Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I really enjoyed this book and the characters of Eddie and Sarah and how it feels to be in the first flush of love. Enjoyable read.

Sarah bumps into Eddie whilst out walking one day, and they go to the pub for a drink, which then turns into six glorious days together before Sarah has to return to her home in LA and Eddie has to go on holiday to Spain. They have fallen in love, and neither of them have been so certain of anything else in their lives. Eddie promises to call from the airport, but he doesn’t call, and all contact ends.

Sarah’s friends told her to forget him and move on but she just can as she knows something must be wrong. Then Sarah discovers why Eddie didn’t call.

This is an amazing book. All the way through it I thought I’d sussed out several different scenarios, and I was wrong about every single one!! It had more twists and turns than a roller coaster at Thorpe Park, but I still encountered a knot in my stomach, and on several occasions, I read pages and pages whilst holding my breath.

Rush out and buy this – it is a truly wonderful read which will have you absorbed in the beautifully written prose, and the completely believable dialogue.

Bravo Ms Walsh!

The author formerly known as Lucy Robinson has come up with another fabulous story, after an absence of a few years.

I was hooked throughout and even when the narrative made me think of one possible reason why Eddie never called after 1 perfect week, I was still completely surprised for the real reason, and subsequent plot turns.

I felt I was by Sarah's side in her frustration at not knowing why after a great week and a soul mate found, that Eddie wasn't in touch. I loved all of her friends suggestions for what she should do, and laughed at some of the situations she found herself in.

It is a very cleverly written book, and touches on some deep issues in addition the main storyline of why a man doesn't call!

My only complaint is that I had to wait far too long for this book to be released. Can we have the next one a bit sooner please Rosie?!!

Thank you to Netgalley and Mantle for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I enjoyed this suspenseful story about a woman who returns to her hometown and meets a man, they hit it off, fall in love quickly and then something happens, all her calls go unanswered but it’s not what you think!
Something more is obviously going on and as the story progresses it becomes apparent.
A talented writer, a good plot and a few twists and turns make this an enjoyable summer read.

I enjoyed reading this book.
A great new take on a romance yet its not just a romance novel. There’s a lot more to it than just that.
Our main two characters meet, have an amazing connection and spend 7 blissful days together. A prior commitment of a holiday with friends mean they need to part, but they are both certain and sure, that their promise to call each other until they see each other again, leaves no fear or question over the newly developed relationship . However there is no call But instead of a story about a new relationship that doesn’t work out, it is a story full of twists and turns, hidden pasts, raw emotion and wonderful believable characters.
A read I would recommend.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This author's books always keep me reading way past my bedtime because I have to find out what happens. I finished this one in a hotel room at 3am on my Canada vacation because I had to find out what happened!

One of the first things that struck me about this book was just how beautiful the writing is. When this author describes something to you, there is no doubt in your head about exactly what she's describing because she just uses such beautiful words and metaphorical phrases that I enjoyed right from the very first page.

The setting of this one was also something I really enjoyed about the book. I could picture Los Angeles in my head easily and feel the heat the hits the characters at almost every turn. We also have scenes set in Gloucestershire and Leicestershire which felt comfortingly British. I really liked the fact that our main character has lived in both the UK and the states and so has experiences and a personality made up from having lived in more than once country. I could recognise this and appreciated the fact that the Sarah showed this throughout the book.

Sarah is a really interesting character because I didn't always like her as I was reading. I could definitely sympathise with what she was going through and the situations she was put in but I definitely found her more intriguing than likeable a lot of the time. I wanted to find out how her story was going to end and also how he story was going to begin because we meet her somewhere in the middle. The supporting characters in the book are great because they are much easier to like and are also very easy to recognise as people from our own families and friendship groups. All the characters are believable, as is the situation that Sarah finds herself in.

In terms of structure, I really enjoyed how this book progressed as I turned the pages. There are letters, emails and texts as well as pages or narrative in the novel. We have a change in narrator and also some past events recalled as whole chapters. This meant that I kept turning the pages because I wanted to find out the impact of a letter or an event from the past and I did gasp aloud at a few of the reveals along the way. I also cried at a couple of points as well, including in my hotel room at 3am and so to me this book is also well rounded.

If you're looking for something to keep you turning the pages this summer then I can definitely recommend this one and I can't wait to see what Rosie Walsh writes to keep me up late next!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Many harrowing subjects handled sensitively. Willing the characters on all the way through. Would definitely recommend.

Ghosting meets ghosts from your past - why didn't he call?
Some really interesting ideas and a totally gripping writing style. I really enjoyed this, it had a delicate edge of terror running through and brilliant sleights of hand.

A really enjoyable read but you do have to suspend belief a bit... but it’s worth it. I read it in two sittings on the beach and it was perfect for that. I did guess half the big secret quite quickly but there are other twists and turns and it’s told in such a way that it holds your interest.

I'm not sure about this book. It didn't grab my attention at all and I struggled with it .

This is a nice easy beach/holiday read for romance lovers. It had a good twist halfway through which gave me an oooh! moment. and a happy ever after ending.

Interesting, absorbing and gentle book about loss and how we deal with it. I predicted some of the outcomes but not everything and really enjoyed the gentle pace of the book.

4*

WOW!
I enjoyed reading this book up to around the middle part, it was unpredictable, with a character going slightly mad after the potential love of her life fails to call and seems to disappear off the face of the earth. Then, the rollercoaster of emotions that this books takes you on went out of control - in a good way. I have laughed, cried, sobbed and related to the loss and grief of losing someone suddenly and tragically as I read this book and perhaps it was just perfect timing but this book helped to heal my wounds. Twists and turns galore, I had to re-read sections to understand how i could have got things so wrong. An amazing summer read, but CAUTION, you'll need a pair of sunglasses to hide your tears. Don't be fooled by the cover, this is not just a love story.

I couldn't put this down. I just had to know what happened! Complex, tense, funny, honest, sometimes rather heartbreaking, this was a brilliant read. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the book turned everything upside down. Definitely, one to recommend for this summer!

Brilliant. This is a really well written story. I was totally shocked by the twist. I did not expect it at all. This book had me gripped from the start. I laughed and I cried and I got caught up in the lives of the characters. I am definitely going to be looking out for more books by Rosie Walsh.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Wow I don't even know where to start with this review because I ADORED this book. It's easily one of the best love stories I've ever read - I cried 3 times reading this book and I NEVER cry. The last time I felt like this about a love story was reading The Time Traveller's Wife. This is definitely 2018's Eleanor Oliphant breakout novel. I want to tell everyone I know to read this and talk about all the bits I loved in it and all the amazing scenes and the beautiful wonderful writing!

So, the plot - Sarah Mackey, on the brink of an amicable divorce from her husband is over the UK for a holiday and to visit her parents for an (unspecified) reason. And then she meets Eddie and they spend 6 amazing days together in the wilds of Gloucestershire. He goes on holiday, promises to call and then never does....the story revolves around why he doesn't call and what happened in Sarah's life to make her come home on the same date ever year.

Full of moments that will make you gasp and laugh and cry and unguessable plot twists and reveals that just leave you rooting for Sarah and Eddie. I couldn't read this book fast enough - I need to go back and read it again to savour the wonderful lyrical writing now! I'm a sleep deprived mummy but I stayed up til almost midnight to finish this book and then raved about it on Twitter and Facebook. I know I sound like a gushing idiot but this book really is that good! i'd give it 6 stars not 5 if I could!

Thanks to Netgalley and Mantle books for this eARC

If you enjoy romance with a twist, you'll enjoy The Man Who Didn't Call. At first I thought it would be about "ghosting" and a journey of self discovery for the female protagonist who realises she doesn't need a man who can't be bothered to tell her to her face that he's just not that into her (been there, done that). But no, it was very different to what I expected. Essentially, it is a mystery but one that really gets you emotionally involved. Sarah meets Eddie by chance and, having been burned by love in the past, they throw caution to the wind and spend an amazing week together. She's so certain the feeling is mutual. But then he leaves....and doesn't call. It then unravels into a love story that asks some hard questions, of its characters and of you as the reader: can you ever move on from a dark past? Can you ever really forgive? Do we ever really 'get over' trauma and find a way forward? Can love really conquer all? The characters are well drawn, believeable and Rosie Walsh really lets you in to their personal struggles. Knowing someone who went through something similar, I felt it was very well done indeed. Definitely one to read at the beach this year!

Brilliant book - so well crafted, you absolutely know the twist coming, you can feel it - and then you're wrong! And it all falls into place. Such a lovely read, I couldn't put it down.

We meet a recently separated, thirty-something woman who finds love the old fashioned way, ironically in her childhood home. What are the odds?! They spend a perfect week together and the feelings are mutual - they are crazy about each other. Questions, fears and doubt explodes when he doesn't call when he promises. She's crazy in love with him and she's definitely sure it was reciprocated, so why doesn't he call. In a state of frenzy until the point of breaking we find out the truth why, maybe just maybe, they can't be together.

This was an excellent read by Rosie Walsh, the story was written fluidly and complex. It was well written - many times I could determine what would happen next but I was wrong in many cases! The plot twists, cliff hangers were fantastic! I highly praise Rosie Walsh and cannot wait to read other titles.

All opinions are my own. You can pre-order this book in the UK from Waterstones/Amazon now and will be released in the UK in summer 2018.
