Loved this book! DJ is a corporate attorney and Kat is recovering from the loss of her wife. The book weaves some complex storylines, but the characters depth of love, empathy, honesty and vulnerability are felt throughout the story. The supporting characters Rebecca and Virgil are hilarious. This is a heartfelt book about love and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book.
This started out ok (although I dislike books that are based on a lie because you’re always just waiting for the reveal). The characters were fairly interesting and their interactions were flirty/fun.
But after about the 1/3 mark it just delvoles into a mess of a soap opera.
I was annoyed that Dani didn’t come clean with Kat before getting together with her, especially as she had ample opportunities, and had already confessed her true purpose to Virgil. But that was far from the only storyline that bothered me. I could understand Kat falling out with her parents, but not why she abandoned her sister. Rebecca is supposed to be this ruthless corporate shark but isn’t really. There’s also a ridiculous villain, even more ridiculous family ties, and everything is interlinked in ways that just made my eyes roll. Then the story just ends and is tied up in a rushed epilogue.
Can’t recommend this one. 2 stars.
