absolutely delightful. Ro is one of my all time favorite artists & their art is exceptional, Spectacle is no exception.

Thank you for providing me with this arc.

The book offers a visually striking mystery set in a circus, but unfortunately, it didn't quite resonate with me. While the artwork is good and the premise intriguing, I found myself struggling to connect with the story and characters. Despite its appeal to fans of supernatural mysteries, this graphic novel didn't capture my interest as much as I had hoped.

I absolutely loved this novel.
Such a great story with defined characters and a great plot.
What drew me in the most was how fleshed out the characters were
The writing style was fluid and relateable.
The cover was fascinating as well.
A reviting read overall
Definitely recommend adding this to your TBR!

Thank you to #Netgalley and #OniPress for granting me access to this arc in return for an honest review.

It's fair to say this is completely out of my comfort zone, but that's a good thing. I wouldn't ordinarily choose something like this. I'm glad I did. The characters are great, storyline good and the artwork is amazing. Solving a murder mystery wit the ghost of your twin sister, what's not to like?

Thank you to Oni Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this graphic novel. This is a graphic novel that is intriguing and interesting, but not everyone is going to like. I like the atmosphere, I like the supernatural and mystery aspects. However, the inside artstyle can be jarring for some to read, and perhaps some of the paneling would be easier to understand. Because of these points, I have to give it 4 out of 5 stars

The cover is much prettier than the art style on the pages. It's very blocky. The dialog comes off a little flat and forced half the time. And the main character is very antisocial. But in a mean way, not a funny way.
The mystery of solving her sister's death and the sudden ability to see ghosts really carried this story. The circus and the personal politics inside it was interesting.

Maybe this book suffers from the first-installment-syndrome, it introduces the story and nothing more.

Again, my rating is low but it's not because I hated the book. It simply has nothing that captivates me into reading what's next.

The story follows Anna and her sister Kat. Kat gets murdered and immediately comes back as a ghost. Anna is the only one being able to see her sister (apart from other ghosts) and together decide to discover the truth: who killed Kat??

This up here could be a synopsis but is actually the whole plot of Volume 1. Anything else that happens adds nothing more to the plot (at least right now in this first volume). So, finished this graphic novel, I'm left with nothing, not even the will to keep reading this saga (right now there are 5 books in it).

5⭐

The story revolves around twin sisters who live and work for a travelling circus. Unfortunately, the circus has broken down and so can't travel and one of the twin sisters is murdered, so can't love or work for the circus anymore. Together, they set out to try to figure out who did it but end up uncovering way more than they bargained for.

This was a really fun read. I liked the art style and I liked the characters and what we learned of their stories so far.
I would definitely recommend the series and will likely pick it up.
The only thing that bothered me was how hard some of the writing was to read, due to it's placement on the page and font style. I realise it was a stylistic choice and while it was still readable it did make the experience slightly frustrating whenever this style of writing came up.

Spectacle is an amazing mystery! I love the dynamic between Kat and Anna and love the air of mystery throughout volume 1. There is some graphic violence which is the only thing that would keep me from involving this in the classroom, but the story is very creative and the illustrations beautiful. I believe there are themes of queer love but that's a mystery that will have to wait for the second volume. Lastly, the book ends on a cliff-hanger which I think is very difficult to do but Salarian does it well. Can't wait to read the second installment!

I wasn't super fan of the art. The premise is interesting and has a lot of potential, though it hasn't been fully explored yet. I feel like we didn't get to know much about the story yet.

Sometimes it feels a bit convoluted because it jumps from scenes a bit abruptly. Sometimes when you passed a page you had the sensation you had skiped something.
I found that what it was developed of the plot was really interesting but it's a bit chaotic.
I'm curious of what the machine that tells the future is, she doent believe in the paranormal but knows the future?
Will Anna be the Ghost Whisperer?

This was a little hard to get into, but once I did I became enthralled in the life of these circus performers, and solving Kat's murder! The art style was very unique and vibrant, I really enjoy this style! It ends on quite the cliffhanger, so I can't wait to read more!

This was so good! The characters are awesome and I cannot wait to read the next volume! I have to see what happens after that cliffhanger that it ended on!

It took me time to really appreciate this story, but when I reached a certain point, I couldn't stop reading!
Anna and Kat are twins working in a circus and when Kat's murdered, Anna tries to find the murderer. But when Kat comes back as a ghost, all of Anna's certainties crumble.
Anna doesn't really investigate per se, but through her, we start to know a bit more about the rest of the circus' troupe (whom Anna doesn't really know as she always kept to herself). This is the part I actually really liked, learning the others' stories and hopefully learning more about Kat.

TW: blood, murder, clowns (not scary), skeletons

This graphic novel was something fresh and really nice change from just reading books for a while. Though it was a lets say "cute" wee graphic novel it was interesting and drew me in from the start. I loved the character and some i dislike but hey that's just life. The setting of a circus was simply amazing. I would recommend if you want a fantasy grapgic novel. It also very like Caravel vibes

Kat and Anna are twins who work for a traveling circus, or at least, they did until Kat is murdered. Her ghost can't find peace until they solve the mystery of her death, but the more Anna digs into the inner workings of the circus, the more difficult it is to differentiate between enemies and friends. They roll into the next town, but some force of chaos is still at play, and soon it becomes obvious that Kat's murder is only the first step in the circus's downfall. Can Anna use her deduction skills to solve the crime before it's too late?

Although this is just the beginning of what promises to be a long and exciting series, I was really satisfied with the way this volume brings in a variety of social conflicts to create a moving plot. The characters are gritty but lovable in their own ways. This is a fun yet thrilling adventure for anyone who thinks ghosts, knives, and clowns go together.

Thank you to NetGalley and Oni Press for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Interesting drawing style. The book was not really my type of graphic novel. I DNF'ed part way through. Wasn't invested into the plot or characters.

Firstly, let’s talk about the art style. This one is pretty cool, but it isn’t my favourite. A lot of the pages felt too busy and I often found my eyes straying from the text to look at the details of the illustrations. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing as it actually means a lot of time and effort went into creating this graphic novel, but I’m someone that gets distracted very easily so it was hard to focus.

One thing I did really love is how vibrant Spectacle is. Every page was filled with colour and it really gave the story movement. The cover alone can prove this.

I’m a big fan of murder mysteries and the fact that this one is set in a travelling circus is really interesting. I am however struggling to remember whether the mystery has been solved yet or if it was left as a cliff hanger.

This brings me to my next point of the story (right now) being a little too forgetful. I remember certain details about the deputy sheriff and Anna working with a cast member but that’s about it. I do have plans to continue reading the series as they are available up until Vol.3 on Kindle Unlimited, so I’ll probably review those too. This time making notes as I go so I don’t forget anything.

There isn’t much to say on the characters as this was very much an introduction to the world, but hopefully in the next volumes there will be plenty of development both plot and character wise.

Overall Spectacle was a decent graphic novel which I am sure is just the beginning of an excellent series. Unfortunately I cannot rate this more than three stars as there were no real stand out moments, it was just ok.

This was a very strange book, but not in a bad way? I think it was a little too strange for me though. The illustrations were good.

I will admit, it took me a minute to get into this book. The art style is not my favorite but the story itself more than makes up for it. By the time I got a few chapters in, I stopped noticing and just enjoyed the story. The art grew on me and by the end I loved it. The story itself is about two sisters who are in the circus and what happens when one of them dies. There's a cast of characters that will make you laugh and keep you interested. I can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the books.
