This is a good standalone novel by Kerry Wilkinson, an author I haven't read a lot of but he is yet to let me down by supplying another very good novel.
Rose Denton wakes up in her car, stranded in a field with the windshield covered in blood. The blood, is not hers and she cannot find anyone else around. She has no recollection of how she got there or how the blood got on the windscreen. On the night of the accident Rose was staying at a hotel where a young man went missing and she fears that she may of hit him. Further unexplained things begin to happen, her pass disappears and reappears, her keys move location and someone breaks into her home but takes nothing. Rose suspects her estranged husband or her daughter Olivia's boyfriend. But when the boyfriend Tyler is reported missing she suddenly starts worrying that she may be involved.
I would like to thank both Net Galley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in return for my honest opinion.

This was a great book. A really good thriller, lots of twists and turns, and I definitely did not see the ending coming. When our main character, Rose, wakes up in her car and there’s blood on it and she cannot figure out from what or who; I was hooked from that point on. It was quick moving, lots of mystery, just a great all-around read. I will definitely be looking for my books from this author.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Having only previously read one book by Kerry Wilkinson, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I thought the premise sounded interesting and I was immersed in the story from the beginning. However halfway through the story, I still felt like the action still hadn't actually started. It had a tendency to drag in places.
The story wasn't helped by the fact that I couldn't identify with any of the characters, but especially the main protagonist. I felt Rose's rocky relationships with her daughter and her husband were of her own making and her whole outlook was pretty self-centred. I couldn't help but wish some kind of comeuppance upon her.

I finished the book but could just as easily have put it to one side.

Rose wakes up in her car in the middle of the night. There is blood on the front of her car. How did she get here? What did she do? These questions are eventually answered. This is a really good fast paced story with a conclusion that I did not see coming. I was gripped from the start and read this book in one sitting. The characters are good and believable and the plot is really good. Kerry Wilkinson is really good at writing thrillers and I hope that there are more books to come.

This is the story of a narrator who is losing her mind, or is she? Rose Denton awakens in the middle of the night in a field, sitting in her car on which she discovers blood. But when she tries to find someone or something injured, there. Is nothing and no one around to explain the blood. She drives home and cleans her car, then has to deal with the reality that she may be culpable for a horrible crime. She also finds out that a young worker is missing from the hotel that she was supposed to stay in that night, and her daughter’s boyfriend is also missing. Did she have anything to do with their not being around any more? Rose has a marriage that is falling apart and a relationship with her daughter that is non-existent. She also has a memory that continues to fail her. The drama in this novel is real, but the pace is slow. You just want to tell the narrator to get on with it and let you in on the secrets that she is guarding so closely. Rose is not a very good narrator as she continues to get off the track of the story, with a lot of side issues with her boss, her job and a co-worker. The book was an enjoyable read, but not fast-paced or action-packed. It does fool the reader with a lot of clues that lead you in the wrong direction, so the ending is a surprise.

I grabbed this book from NetGalley and for some reason didn't get to it so I decided to grab it on audio. I really enjoyed this book. It was so good and I really didn't know what was what half the book. The mystery was great and it had me on the edge of my seat for sure. Quite a fast-paced page-turner of a read.

Rose is a mother and a wife. She isn't happy with her life, but she lives it. After a work engagement out of town, she wakes up in her car in the middle of the street, and there is blood. There is nobody, no animal, she is not hurt. Not knowing where the blood came from she drives home and cleans up the car. The next day she finds out her daughter's boyfriend is missing. This leads to a bunch of questions and many strange things happening that she can't explain. She doesn't know if she is guilty of something or someone is messing with her head. She needs to figure it out before she is hauled off to jail.

I really truly enjoyed this read. I haven't read such a crazy read in a while. The mystery was so well done, I didn't figure out until I was mean to figure it out and I was just as lost and confused as the main character. The pacing was well done and I never tired of not knowing what was going on. I was at times afraid to find out. I didn't want it to end badly for the main character... unless she was truly guilty. I was in suspense for most of the book.

The main character... well she was a little annoying at times. She made some choices I would have mot made and I did not approve of and were just morally wrong.. I think her choices made things worse for her and just played into whatever was going on so easily. She loved her daughter and I think she was scared of losing her and also losing herself if she found out she was guilty of something. I can't imagine what it would be to wake up with blood on your car and no memory. I did read the book with as little judgment as I could... I wanted to enjoy it and not pick it apart. She was a little whiny too. I don't like whiny characters, especially adult ones. But the story was so good and all over the place, she was easy to deal with.

May of the book is just trying to figure out what the heck is going on and for some reason, I love these reads. There is something in the main characters past that is really affected her, the story, the details, the truth are slowly revealed. I also love books that do this. I liked the past and present being involved in different chapters and I liked things to come out slowly. Keep me in the dark, please!

It was a pretty fast read and really the only big complaint I have that kept this from being rated 5 hearts, the ending. It wasn't bad, but it felt rushed. I liked the ending, it made sense, I could see why it all went down. There were things I never saw coming... just felt rushed in a way.

I really enjoyed this read and look forward to reading more by this author!

Rose Denton wakes as if from a dream to find herself in her car and no memory how she got there. She sees what looks like blood on the bonnet and windscreen. The initial confusion causes uncertainty - has she been in an accident and the blood is hers or the victim’s? To make matters worse she has no memory of events from the night before.

Rose has a husband called Don, a marriage falling apart, a job she does not excel at, and a secret in her past.

Olivia is the daughter struggling with her mother daughter relationship and the disappearance of her boyfriend. The same boyfriend her mother may have been the last person to see alive.

When the police open an investigation into the boyfriend’s disappearance Rose suspects she may have played a part in this.

I became so engrossed in the book I did not make as many notes I normally do. There were too many suspects provided by an author who cleverly threw me off track. I think I suspected nearly everyone at some stage.

I was very surprised how this book ended and loved every minute of this gripping read. Fantastic read and one I highly recommend to lovers of psychological mystery thrillers.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the free digital copy and I really enjoyed the chance to provide an honest review.

I discovered Kerry Wilkinson a while ago with his Jessica Daniels detective series and he is definitely one of my favorite authors. This one is no exception. It is a great read and I was hooked right from the first chapter! Definitely recommended and thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this

I've enjoyed all of Wilkinson's Jessica Daniel series and several of his stand alones. This one was a bit of a disappointment. Rose isn't a very likable character, and while I was curious about what was going on, I didn't care much. I began to suspect what happened fairly early, but wasn't satisfied to find I was right.

I was fond of it but there was something just a bit off with this book. It was a good book which shows the depth of the writing style that the author has.

Gripping from the start and I didn't guess how it would end. Loved this book. Would definitely recommend it

Differently a book I would pick up, it pulls you into the story, and keeps your attention all the way through it. It's one of those stories that has you setting on the edge of your set. With that said I want to think Netgalley for giving me a chance at reading and review Last Night.

I received a digital ARC of #LastNight from #NetGalley for an honest review.

I've not read anything by Kerry Wilkinson before but will definitely look out for more by the same author. This book had me hooked from the first page. The story takes place over the space of 7 days, and a lot happens in those 7 days!

It's not a spoiler to say that quite quickly we discover that someone is trying to frame Rose, hence the waking up in a field with blood on her car. The question is who is doing this? And why? I thought I knew who it was. I was wrong. The big reveal was very good though and was tense! The story kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through!

Highly recommend this book!

I'm a huge fan of Kerry Wilkinson's writing and this story did not disappoint. Rose wakes up in her car after driving off the road and into a field. Her car has blood on it. She has no recollection of what happened the night before and is terrified of the unknown. As Rose tries to piece together the pieces of the puzzle, with her daughter's boyfriend missing and the boy who worked at the hotel she stayed at missing, she wonders if she hit, or even worse, killed one of them with her car that night. Rose soon realizes that she really doesn't know who she can trust and who she can't. Can she even trust her own thoughts and memories? Wilkinson does a great job of pulling everything together in the end.

Thank you to Netgalley, Kerry Wilkinson and Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've explained to the publisher why this book wasn't for me. Thank you for the copy which I read .

A fast paced well written story about a woman who wakes in the middle of what seems to be an accident but she can't piece it together because while there is a lot of blood on the car, there is no damage and once home finds out that the boyfriend of her daughter (whom she doesn't like) is missing. Great story, fast paced and twits abound.

2,5 Stars

This is not my first experience with Kerry Wilkinson, I read many of the Jessica Daniels series as well as other stand alone and I enjoyed them. This one however was not as enjoyable as the others.
The plot seemed interesting at first; Rose waking up in the middle of nowhere with blood covering her car, she has no memory of the night before and no idea whose blood it is.

The main problem is that the story was incredibly slow. It was told by Rose, so at one point it was interesting to see her confusion and fear. But I did not like her at all from the very beginning, and I felt no sympathy for her; maybe that’s what made it difficult to keep my interest in the story. I never considered abandoning the book halfway but at the same time I wasn’t rushing back to it everyday which is why it took really long time to finish.
The end came as no surprise at all. It made sense in a way. And the fact that the last 25% of the story went faster didn’t really help making me enjoy it more.

I was a bit disappointed by this book but this does not mean I won’t look out for the other books of Kerry Wilkinson.
