Enjoyed this thriller. Wilkinson never disappoints and I never regretted reading any of his books

What a conundrum - Rose Denton wakes up in a field in her crashed car which is covered in blood. How did she get there and whose blood is it? What has she done? It's a blank. She has no recall. Following this weird accident many more strange things occur. Now she's not sure who she can trust. Everyone seems to be behaving oddly. There are some red herrings and plausible logic as the novel progresses. A chilling tale but I'd expect nothing less from Kerry Wilkinson. Once again he displays his unique Kerry-style humour which reflects seeing the funny side of the spectrum in the most ordinary situations. Priceless & perceptive. It never fails to entertain me. A good job on Dan with the recognisable traits of a male-teacher-species. Rose was not the person I first thought she was and I never did make my mind up about her but her past mistakes had not gone unnoticed. The ending is sheer genius. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

rose, a middle aged IT sales woman, awakes early hours of the morning in her car seemingly after careering off a country lane into a farmer’s field. her windscreen is covered in blood, she has no recollection of events leading up to her being there and has no idea if she’s injured or killed somebody or an animal. events spiral in her quest to find out what happened and she finds herself questioning the trustworthiness of everyone around her and herself.

i thoroughly enjoyed this book although it is very different from others by the same author. rose is on the brink of separating with her husband and her relationship with her teenage daughter is temperamental at best. throughout the book it is alluded to that rose has a past that she would prefer to forget.

many thanks to netgalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another great read from a very talented author. Kerry created characters that capture your heart from the start. I would like to see Kerry write a sequel.

I enjoyed this book overall but it was difficult to motivate myself to finish toward the middle of the book. In the end; I’m glad I stuck with it because the characters improved and the pace picked back up. 4 stars.

I was not sure about this book in the beginning. It did start off really well and the ending was fantastic but in the middle I started to wonder if I would finish it. So glad I did.. such a great ending that I did not pick.

It starts off with Rose waking up on the side of the road after crashing her car. She can't remember a thing and there is a lot of blood. Things start to come back to her but she is still very confused. Then her daughters boyfriend goes missing, he marriage falls apart and her job is on shaky ground. If only she could remember that night.

Stick with this book, it is worth it in the end. Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read in exchange for my honest opinions

This is a really good stand alone from Kerry Wilkinson. The book opens with Rose Denton waking up in her car which has crashed into a field. She has no recollection of events and when she steps from the car, she sees blood on the windscreen. Rose returns home in a panic, cleans the car and more strange events follow on. Rose has a dark secret in her life and is divorcing her husband. This book has plenty twists and enough suspense to keep the reader interested. as Rose's life begins to unravel. Kerry Wilkinson is becoming one of my favourite authors. Thank you Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads and Facebook, Amazon to follow.

This is another author who was in at the start of my reading resurrection back in 2011 when I first got my Kindle which kick started my almost forgotten love of reading with his Jessica Daniel series. I have stuck with that series as it grew as well as reading and loving both his Andrew Hunter series (albeit only two books old, more please) as well as numerous stand alones. Now teamed up with one of my favourite new publishers, Bookouture, he is still a major player on my tbr, and I look forward to and devour every new book of his that I can get my hands on. This, his latest, being every bit as good as expected and a worthy addition to his ever blooming back catalogue. Can you guess I'm a bit of a fan!?
So, our main player in this book, Rose Denton, wakes up in her car in the early hours. It is off the road in a field, and, on further inspection, there's blood on her screen. The blood isn't hers and looking around, she can't see where it has come from. She has no recollection of an accident, in fact, the last thing she remembers is being at a hotel, away from home, on business. She also finds a message on her phone saying that her daughter hasn't come home that night. Being closer to her house than the hotel, she continues on home, hoping to wash her car before her husband sees.
Then she finds out that her daughter's boyfriend is missing. As is a worker from the hotel where she was saying. Could the blood be one of theirs? But she's has covered her tracks, washed the car. It couldn't have been her, she'd have remembered something. Wouldn't she? As the days go on and more questions are asked, not many answered, can she cut through the noise and find out what exactly happened that night?
Well, this book took me all around the houses and back again as I, along with Rose, tried to cut through the noise to get to the truth. As more and more strange things happen to and around Rose, both personally and professionally, it became increasing more difficult to work it all out; more difficult and more scary. There was so much going on in this book it was hard to keep track, let alone work it all out. We are offered glimpses into Rose's past throughout, and slowly the bigger picture starts to become clear. It's definitely a slow burn psychological thriller rather than an action packed one initially, but it packs its punches at exactly the right times as it ramps up towards a rather thrilling conclusion. One that left me somewhat reeling as I didn't see the half of it coming.
All the usual trademarks of this author are here in this book, especially his characterisation. There are a lot of secrets and lies to be found within, as well as quite a bit of duplicitous behaviour so it is especially important for the characters to be believable within their own selves. Especially the main players and here, the author manages to portray them perfectly. There's just enough given to doubt them but not too much to be certain. It's a fine line and the author walks it perfectly. He had me doubting pretty much everyone along the way but not so as I felt cheated when the truth came out.
All in all, a great read that kept me rapt and on my toes throughout. I do hope I don't have to wait too long for the next one. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Rose Denton is having a tough go of it. She and her 20-year husband are just going through the motions at this point - barely - and their 18-year-old daughter Olivia has evolved into a surly witch with a capital B. Rose's job as a high-end IT system saleswoman is getting harder by the day, and she's getting signals from her boss that improvement is in order stat (or else). And when she goes off on what should be a routine overnight business trip, she wakes up behind the wheel of her car in a remote field. If that weren't bad enough, there's blood on the windshield and hood; but Rose isn't seriously injured, and there's no body - human or animal - anywhere around.

Panicking, and endlessly speculating about what might have happened, Rose returns home, surreptitiously spit-shines the car and starts watching the news to see if anyone has turned up dead. In her spare time, she tries to avoid fighting with her husband and daughter, whose good-for-nothing boyfriend has gone missing. Olivia is nearly hysterical, and it doesn't help that his most recent activity was a fight with Rose.

Other strange things begin to happen, such as a possible break-in at Rose's home and personal items that mysteriously disappear and reappear. Along the way, readers learn that there's more to Rose than meets the eye; apparently, she's been keeping a deep, dark secret from her past that involves three childhood friends (one of whom died years ago and another who spent the past two decades in jail).

Weird things keep happening to Rose, to the point where she suspects everybody from her husband Dan to Olivia's boyfriend. But wait, could what happened years ago be connected to what's happening to her now? The conclusion, complete with a bit of a cliffhanger, is exciting, though I can't say it was particularly surprising. All in all, it's a good, solid effort, and I thank the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy.

3 Stars.

“Last Night” Rose wakes up in her car. It is in a field, the windshield covered in blood. The blood, is not hers. Rose looks everywhere but can’t find a body and she has no recollection as to how she wound up there. Pretty nightmarish, right?! The night of the accident Rose was staying at a hotel where a young man went missing and Rose is deathly afraid that she hit him. Thereafter strange things start happening to her: her work pass disappears and reappears, her keys end up in strange places, someone breaks into her family home but doesn’t take anything. Rose suspects her estranged husband and/or Tyler, (her daughter, Olivia’s boyfriend) who she doesn’t like, till he is found to be missing by the Police. And then Rose begins to worry. Could she have... did she?.. Tyler? No.

Rose is a completely unreliable narrator which kept me on my toes as a reader, but which I also found to be incredible frustrating. “Last Night” was more of a slow burn that didn’t pick up till the very end. That said, it was an enjoyable novel with well developed characters. I would recommend it to those who enjoy a slow paced suspense with an unreliable narrator.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Published on NetGalley and Goodreads on 3.11.18.

Another gripping page-turner by Kerry Wilkinson! It is fast paced, the plot engaging from the start and the characters multi-dimensional. Looking forward to the next book by this talented author!

Bookouture and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Last Night. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Rose Denton wakes up in her car, but has no recollection as to how she got there or what happened. With blood on the windshield and holes in her memory, Rose searches for answers in the days that follow. When troubling things start to happen, including the disappearance of her daughter's boyfriend, will Rose's paranoia threaten her very sanity?

This psychological thriller has all of the elements of a great thriller, but there is one substantial misstep that holds the book back. The main character, Rose Denton, is slowly losing the grip on her sanity, yet I never felt sympathy for her. The author never allows the reader to forge any sort of connection with the reasonable, rational Rose because the book begins at her lowest point. She instead seems calculating and somewhat cold, making her mainly unlikable. Last Night is a good psychological thriller, but just does not quite reach the level of some of my favorites.

You wake up in the middle of the night in your car. You are in the middle of an open field and you have no idea how you got there or why there’s blood on the windshield. Could anything be more terrifying? But that’s only the beginning of the nightmare for Rose. As she struggles to deal with problems at work, a disintegrating marriage, a troubled teenage daughter, and the re-entry of Jason into her life, she must also unravel the mystery of what happened that night. Rose’s character is so well written that you feel that you are there with her. She is not your typical innocent wronged-by-all heroine, but a complex woman with a past. A must-read if you love suspenseful, nail-biting psychological thrillers!

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Amazing! This author always delivers, whether with his crime stories or his psychological thrillers. And this book I thought was his very best with the pace never letting up from the jaw dropping beginning to the brilliant and tense end. Loved this fro start to finish. Twisted and satisfying. Highly recommended.

I had a hard time getting into this book, slow going. Once it picked up a bit, I did enjoy parts of it and while I guessed some of the plot, I was never quite sure what was going on.
I didn't really connect with the characters at all and this made the book a bit harder to read. I did skip a few chapters but found I could pick up the story easily and continue on.
I DO like this author and look forward to new books...

Rose wakes up in her car on the side of the road with blood all over her windscreen and no idea what happened and after getting out of her car and searching she is none the wiser. The last thing she remembers is being at a business meeting in a hotel. As she sets out to find out what happened in the missing hours I was totally hooked and read this book in almost one sitting and I didn't guess who dunnit until the book told me which is always an added bonus.

I am a HUGE fan of Kerry Wilkinson's books and have read all of his books to date and this is another cracking 5 star read!!!!!

Thank you very much to NetGalley, publisher Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for the opportunity to read and review Last Night by Kerry Wilkinson in return for my honest review.

It’s the early hours of the morning and Rose Denton wakes up behind the steering wheel of her car. She’s off the road, through a hedge and in a field. It's dark and she isn't hurt. No injury. No blood.

However when she steps out of the car, a bit groggy and unstable, she finds blood on the hood and windshield of her car. No damage to the car. Nothing lying dead or injured on the ground. Just blood on the car. But just how did she get here? The last thing she remembers is going to bed in a hotel where she had a business meeting.

Deciding to just go home, no matter the hour, when she sees a call from her husband, Dan saying their daughter hasn't come home.

After cleaning up her car and seriously questioning her sanity, she finds out her daughter's boyfriend is missing. And then odd things keep happening. This was a pretty good case of gaslighting!

I really felt sorry for Rose. Trying to separate from a man she doesn't even have feelings for. Re-living past tragedies, Rose will have to face her own past head on before she loses everything.

A nail biter to the end!

Last Night is a standalone novel by Kerry Wilkinson and the first one by this author I have read.
It starts with Rose wakens up at 2.42 am sitting in her car with blood on her windscreen, in the middle of nowhere. She is wondering how she got there and why is there blood on the car. She looks around the car to see if she hit animal or something but, there is nothing there. The last thing she remembers is she is in bed in a hotel. Where she was supposed to meet someone for a business meeting but, they never turned up.
As the story progresses other things to go wrong. There is a break in at her house but nothing seems to have gone missing. Her husband Dan, who she has grown apart and may divorce soon, starts acting strangely. She is on the verge of getting fired from her job and her daughter Olivia is moping around as her unemployed boyfriend Tyler has gone missing. Rose is worried that that something is wrong with her and she goes on a mission to find out what happened to the missing hours when she woke up in her car.
I have heard a lot of good things about Kerry Wilkinson and I just love Psychological thrillers. So I was excited to be given the opportunity to read this. I liked and enjoyed this but, it didn’t WOW me liked others in this genre does liked others there was something missing for me.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy of this book.
