Forbidden was a decadent treat that I knew would unnerve and scare the heck out of me I could not stop reading because I was lost in the eroticism in the story and the very sexy characters. I thought this story was great. Luc and Natalie were sexy and compelling and I could not stop reading.

When Natalie James decides to go undercover at a leading fashion magazine, Covet, to expose the murder of her childhood bestfriend, she never would have expected the quagmire of epic proportions she immersed herself in. Filled with suspense and intrigue and mindblowing sexual games, she has no idea who is friend or foe. But when CEO Luciano "Luc" Salvatici sets his eyes on her she has no idea what is coming!

Gah! This novel was sexy and so erotic. I loved the touches of BDSM and how Luc opened Natalie's eyes to her secret desires and wants. BUT OMG that ending?!!! I am SO hooked and can't wait for book two.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Dark suspenseful cliffhanger

Reading Elisabeth Naughton's Forbidden made me a little uncomfortable. I enjoy books about BDSM but what was described in the book was actually abuse. While the book was suspenseful as expected, it just didn't really draw me in as much as other stories I have read. I think the author had some good ideas but it just didn't draw my interest enough to read the next book.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.

Wow, this book was so much more than I expected it to be. The chemistry between Luc and Natalie was so hot and combustible from the very start. It’s clear that Luc was hiding something, but I could have never imagine what it was. This book is full of mystery and suspense, combined with a healthy dose of sexual tension and steam. I can’t wait for the next book to see how this story unfolds.

Wow! This book was like the best kind of crazy, drag you in and hold you hostage wild!

I’m generally not a fan of BDSM and I suspected this story might involve it with a series titled House Of Sin. But I love what I’ve read from this author in the past and the blurb was just too hard to resist. I expected a sex club with friends of the hero who would be dominant and dark. I did not expect what I found within these pages.

Natalie is looking for answers to her friend’s death and ends up in the sphere of the Salvaciti men. As her mind races from one potential suspect to another she finds herself in the company of Luc with all his dominating force. She’s a strong independent woman with no need to submit herself to any man. But what she finds with Luc has her eager and willing…until she realizes she may have allowed herself to become just like her friend.

This book really rocked me. I lost myself down the dark and twisted path that this couple traveled. As a witness to Natalie’s fall, I sensed the traps that could snap up and ensnare her when she didn’t. However, Luc’s point of view was a reprieve from the worse of my concern. Unfortunately, there is a deep dark secret that threatens not only him but Natalie as well and as the reader I was on pins a needles waiting for that secret to loom up and swallow me whole.

I absolutely loved this story, these characters, the darkness of every secondary character introduced because you didn’t know their agenda, and the buildup of tension and angst. It’s not a particularly fast read but you don’t want to skim because every line is full of emotion or needed information. I knew going in it was a cliffhanger so I had braced myself but oh Lord! I didn’t realize how hard it was going to hit me. I need the next book NOW!

P.S. Second book is planned to release three weeks after Forbidden

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Season Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I NEEEEEEED the next book. Holy Hell. Probably the HOTTEST book I've read in a while. Steamy, achingly so at times, shivers in all the right places, and a damn cliffhanger that I could pant over. Sign me up for the next one! The chemistry between these two is insane, I'm hoping there's a little more backstory about the "Family" in the next book, it's all very cloak and dagger, but this one hit all the right spots. I cannot find a single thing I disliked about this book other than that the next one isn't out yet and waiting for me! Well written, great anticipations and flow, full characters, everything you want in this sort of book. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

Ordinarily, I do not read books which end with a cliffhanger as I consider them a cheap gimmick to sell more books, but for Elisabeth Naughton I willingly made an exception. Overall this book was what I expected; well-written, well-plotted, interesting and with an excellent hero.

Unfortunately, and I am going to give spoilers here so be warned, there is a serious problem with this book. I hate to be critical, but I have to be honest. The heroine is extremely irritating and Too Stupid To Live. In order to move the plot forward I could see how she had to do some of the foolish things she did, but she is all over the place; she doesn’t listen to good advice; one minute she is in love with the hero and the next she doesn’t trust him; she rushes blindly into dangerous situations without thinking; she is stupidly impulsive, and generally makes bad decisions. She is the sort of person who, upon coming on a house festooned with signs saying, “A homicidal maniac lives here,” would imagine that she knows better, and parade right in.

“Forbidden” had the potential to be absolutely excellent. The pacing and suspense in this book are perfect. I had to read the book in chunks because the tension was ratcheted up so highly. Luciano, the hero, is everything he should be; big and handsome, compelling, conflicted, strong, protective and alpha. If only Miss TSTL were worthy of him!

I liked “Forbidden,” but I wanted to love it. The next book, “Deceived,” releases in three weeks, and I will read it, hoping that the heroine is more likeable, but mostly because I want to see what happens. I am awarding this book four stars based on the excellent elements I have described, but deleting a star for the ridiculous heroine.

Forbidden: House of Sin Book 1 by Elisabeth Naughton will take you to the edge of your seat while reading. The author knew where to take her readers imagination and she knew how to tweak and activate it.

Her story was plotted thoroughly and perfectly. I understand doing a three-parts book because a story like these can't be contained in just a single book.

There's so much depth to the story that it's a good thing Naughton writes very well or us, the readers will get lost in the story, and not in a good way.

The scenes depicted were all riveting. I truly can connect with her charaters. The heroine's dangerous search for the truth and the hero's struggle to leash the evil he tries very hard to steer clear.

The chemistry of the main characters is off the charts. You will really feel the sexual tension and frustration around them the author delivered. The pacing was just perfect. It was not too fast, not rushed and most importantly, not stagnant or worst, it did not fluctuate. You can feel the story builds up as the story progresses and it will make you second guess along with the heroine.

I love that this book isn't just about unleasing dark desires but that it delves into a more sinister truth that probably, mostly do exist somewhere. The highs the author will take you is so addictive you wouldn't want to come down from it.

Once again, Elisabeth Naughton proves her writing prowess and this time, she will take us to something only the willing dips into.

I highly recommend this book. This isn't your ordinary mystery and romance. It is really a romance full of mystery and twists and turns as well as secrets, lies and deceptions. And that ending? It was a perfect ending. One I didn't see coming.

When I requested this ARC, I agreed to give a fair and honest review in return. Riveting! Heat and intrigue and danger all in one book. Well actually, 3 books and I can't wait to finish the series if the remaining two are just as gripping.

Forbidden is the first of what will be a three part series, so if you don’t like cliffhangers, this may not be the book for you. The story is also very different from other books written by Ms Naughton, so don’t expect the same style of writing.

While there were aspects of the story I enjoyed, I struggled a little with multiple viewpoints and Natalie’s dialogue was at times frustrating. However, that said, I’m obsessed enough to need closure, and will therefore read the next two books.

Wow, I'm not sure yet how I feel about this title. On the one hand, the kink elements in this book bordered on abuse and not what BDSM truly is, so that's a huge negative for me. But, the suspense of the story was pretty engaging so I enjoyed that. The ending was, of course, a nail biting cliffhanger that means I'll have to read the rest of the series just so I know what happens.

This isn't the first book I have read by Elisabeth Naughton.

Forbidden is the first in a 3 book series that follow two main characters into a dark world or possession, obsession and Sex.

Trust me I understand the series is called House of Sin but still the story disappeared and is replaced with graphic sex scenes readers will either flip though or enjoy.

Before anyone picks up the book they are warned in a blurb "**WARNING!**

This book is very sexy, very dark, and very addictive! Contains consensual kink and a dark and dominant hero with a dangerous secret. This is a big story that can't be told in only one book so there is a cliffhanger"

The story is interesting but the erotic sex scene take away from whatever story you might to be reading to the point readers will be flipping though at least 75% of the book to find the story and the dark hidden secret.

I was disappointed not with the sex scenes while there were many and readers will need a glass of water and a window open. The main story didn't pick up until the last 10% of the book. We were give two points of view and yet we didn't learn anything about the family until the last part of the book which ends in a cliff hanger.

I wish the story not the sex was the main focus of Forbidden. That being said the writing is well done and everything is paced well throughout the book

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the advance copy of Forbidden

I received an arc from Netgalley. Seriously this book grabbed me right from the beginning and Incould not put it down.
So many secrets and once found out there are some Natalie is not sure she can live with but can she live without Luc now that they have grown so close?
I honestly cannot wait for the next book in this series.

He mystified her, she intrigued him. Luciano Salvaciti was a man who wanted everything to be under his control. When he caught sight of Natalie James inquiring for a job at Covet, he knew she was trouble. And trouble seemed to follow them both, wherever they would go.

Natalie only wanted the truth about her best friend’s death. Going to Covet could bring her close to her suspects. But what she found was something way beyond the norm. More like an occult. A sin. Something forbidden. Something primal. Something deadly.

I have to admit, this is absolutely the most electrifying, most titillating and most seductive book I’ve read from Elisabeth Naughton. And this is just scratching the surface. Forbidden is the first book in the House of Sin series, and I am already overwhelmed by the amount of super hot, erotic and mindblowing sexy scenes. The pages nearly burned my skin because of the scorching hot details in the story. Luc and Natalie could easily combust and burn the house down. I was speechless while reading the book, and when I came to that astonishing end, I screamed and now I am asking for more.

That’s how good this story is, very very articulate and very very stimulating and very very mystifying. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. Elisabeth Naughton needs to release the sequel immediately!!

An exceptional start to the House of Sin series. Elisabeth Naughton has written a solid winning story. Temptation leads to romance. I found the story to be interesting and unique. Can't wait to read more in this series and about these characters. A+

Forbidden, is the first book in the series. I didn't like it. lets just get that out of the way! It ends with a shitty ending, a CLIFFHANGER!
I don't know what to say, honestly! I wasn't really expecting to not like a book so much! BDSM, Dark secrets, I felt uncomfortable at times. Natalie is doing her own investigating into her mates death, and Luc he owns a rather popular fashion magazine. The writing wasn't too bad, I just didn't like the story, it felt like I had read it before some where, Nat made stupid decisions and dangerous one too. This just left a bad taste in my mouth. I was really looking forward to this, but then about 20% I was already like Nope, this isn't for me!

I really enjoyed this first installment in the House of Sin trilogy. The main characters were very believable if not a little naïve sometimes. I can’t really go into any detail without giving away much so all I can say right now is read it and wait like I am on the next two books.
Thoughts to leave you with…I enjoyed it, will read other books by this author again and April cannot get here soon enough!

***ARC received for an honest review***

Every time a heroine says "This seems like a bad idea, but..." and justifies her dangerous behavior I die a little inside.

Natalie is in New York investigating a friend's death. She's not a cop or anything... Luc owns a fashion magazine, but happens to be interviewing interns on the day Natalie comes in... He's so powerful. She's so dewy-eyed. You know the spiel. There's darkness and secrets and sexual shenanigans that I felt were unrealistic and uncomfortable. I can dig on some good BDSM, but it need to be realistic for me to enjoy it - both partners discussing it beforehand (like reasonable adults).

The writing wasn't bad. The story felt like I had read it before. And the heroine made stupid decisions and did unrealistic, dangerous things.

***ARC received in exchange of an honest opinion***

Forbidden has an intriguing premisse, similar to one I've read before and liked a lot.
I didn't know that before I started the book, I confess I read the blurb of this one before reading it, but it didn't give much away, which I'm glad. From the blurb I waa a bit intrigued, but became more afte thefirst chapter.

And while it intrigued me, it still didn't make my heart beat faster. Some parts were better than others, but Forbidden may have a bit too much drama for my taste. Some of it was very predictable, some were surprising, but not all surprisingly good.

I expected more from it, but I'm willing to bet on the story and give the second book a go. I want to see how the Beast will explain himself and get the girl.

This is one of the best books that I've read in 2017. It's a smart, intriguing mystery, and I could not put this book down until I finished it.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Mystery and Thrillers, Romance

Well, this was quite a dark read, told in alternating viewpoints from Natalie and Luc. It was uncomfortable reading in parts, though I'm OK with BDSM in stories, in this book it takes a much sharper edge, with the liberal use of alcohol and drugs, and the possibility of not all sex being consensual.
In fact that's almost certainly where Natalie's friend Elena met her end. She supposedly died from a drug overdose but Natalie doesn't believe that and is on a quest for the truth.
I fond myself struggling with this story, it wasn't the writing but the story itself. I just found so much of it hard to believe, and for me I need that reality. I kept putting this aside and picking it up later.
I found it hard to believe in Elena and Natalie, they'd been friends since young kids, but for the last four years they haven't met, just corresponded. Yet now she's dead Natalie can take off as much time as she likes in her quest. If they really were best friends surely they'd have made time to meet up somehow?
Natalie has a kind of naiveness about her and yet is very astute in others. She very determined and yet falls for some rookie mistakes, one of which brings her into real danger, that she escapes from only by the fact that Luc suspects what's happening. Surely the “don't drink unless you see it poured from the bottle” is a mantra for everyone when with strangers? It was things like that which irritated me.
It ends on a massive cliffhanger, and I hate those, really, really hate them. Its a well written story, its just that it didn't hook me in. Though there were parts of the story I really enjoyed I don't think I'll be continuing with the trilogy. I just find parts of it difficult to believe in and when I'm reading I need to be convinced everything could happen.

Stars: Two and a half, a story I struggled to believe in, didn't feel real to me.
