The story opens with Sasha who discovers she's in hospital after giving birth by emergency caesarean, but it's not the hospital she had planned to be at, and where's her baby? When the nurse takes her to the nursery to see her baby, she takes one look at him and knows this baby is not hers, she is convinced the babies have been swapped and is determined to find hers, but nobody believes her, what does she need to do to prove them wrong and will she find that proof before it's too late?

Sasha and Mark had been desperately trying for a baby, after a couple of miscarriages and many failed attempts it's starting to take a toll on their marriage.  Both of them have troubled pasts which they are struggling to let go of, is this going to break them completely or will Sasha discover the truth and finally get the family she and Mark both crave.

I too went through a premature birth and ended up having an emergency c-section for the same reason as Sasha with my first child, so part of the story resonated with me and it brings it back how much trust you put in the nursing staff that are looking after you.

This was a good debut novel with twists along the way which keeps the reader guessing throughout.
I would be interested to read more by this author .  Thank you to Penguin UK - Michael Joseph for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads and Amazon

Sasha awakens to find she has had her baby. An emergency caesarian means she remembers nothing of the birth and she discovers she had a boy not a girl. Meeting him Sasha is convinced this is not her baby and something has gone wrong. Can she figure out the truth of everything?

This was such a good read but so emotional too. It deals with some very difficult issues around birth and miscarriage but is written very well. The mental health issues are prevalent in this but again handled well. The story is fascinating and scary at many times. The ending really does make you think but it was cleverly done.

Sasha goes through the ringer in this but you can see her strength shining through and you want the story to prove her right. It is very much her story but I loved Ondine too, she was a good addition to the story.

A Brilliant thriller that deals with some real emotions.

Waking up after a Caesarean section, you demand to see your baby. But it's not your baby and no one believes you. Not even your husband.

When Sasha wakes up after an emergency Caesarean section, all see wants is to be taken to see her new baby. She is adamant that the baby is not hers. No one believes her, not even her husband, Mark. Sasha ends up being put into psychiatric care. But Sasha is a Doctor and knows something is wrong. A story that is relevant, full of lies, cover ups and a past Sasha has never been told about.

Having to undergo an emergency c-section under general anaesthesia, Sasha, a doctor, wakes up relieved to discover her premature baby has survived the procedure. HOWEVER...when she lays eyes on her baby, she is adamant that the baby in front of her is not the baby she gave birth to. No one believes her. She must be in shock after her trauma. Is this a case of ' mother always knows best' and there is a terrible conspiracy at play, or is Sasha beginning to lose her mind?

Susi Fox's medical background held her in good stead to convincingly tackle the emotional strain and grief that several failed pregnancy attempts and miscarriages can have on marriage, which is a featured theme of this book.

The author cleverly used that theme to play with my mind, taking me on a journey of back and forth...one minute I was as adamant as Sasha was that she had to find her real baby, then the next minute I was wondering if perhaps Sasha was suffering with mental illness. I was enjoying the guessing game, I just had to get to the bottom of what was fact and what was fiction.

Which leads me to the ending...Sadly, I found it to be somewhat of an anti-climax in relation to the direction the story had been leading up to. A bit disappointing really. Unfortunately, because of that, I had to give this read a 3.5 star rating.

I'll be the first one to admit that I am a sucker for a climactic ending, but the journey to that ending plays a great part towards the entertainment factor and this is where this story shines. I definitely enjoyed that this psychological drama played with my mind.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Penguin UK -Michael Joseph and the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Covering the sensitive subjects of miscarriage, potential IVF and marital problems Mine is an complete page turner from beginning to end.
Broken down into minuscule time fragments – the storyline draws you in deeper as you live every single desperate moment alongside the main character. The novel is perfectly plotted to maximise her overwhelming feelings of anxiety, horror and terror. With dark descriptive prose the author makes this a novel that you won’t want to put down. Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin UK, Michael Joseph and the author for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review. Highly recommended.

An interesting book if a bit slow paced. The plot is quite terrifying and would be very scary for expectant parents to read. The ending was bitter sweet and quite unexpected. A good book but not gripping or fast paced enough for a 5 star.

Sasha and Mark have been together for a long time they are having problems highlighted by the fact that Sasha can't get pregnant until now. We join Sasha after she has had to have an emergency C-section and when she finally lays eyes on her baby she knows he isn't hers but no-one believes her, none of the nurses, her husband or even her dad, just her best friend that lives on the other side of the world does. I'm not going to go into too much detail about this book as although it was a good read not a lot happens for ages then something small does that is totally relevant and turns this novel on its head so I think your best going in blind like I did, as I had requested to read this that long ago id forgotten what it was about!!
Despite it being slow going it did make me keep reading and I did enjoy it and there are some twists and turns along the way and the ending was not how I envisaged it at all.

Mine is a fantastic read, although I’m not sure I would have loved it as much if I was pregnant.

Sasha awakes in hospital to find she has had an emergency caesarean and can’t wait to see her new baby. When she finally gets to meet her new baby all is not as she expected. The ultrasound showed she was having a girl but the hospital have taken her to a baby boy. Sasha also doesn’t feel any motherly love towards the baby and therefore is convinced this is not her child and the hospital have made a mistake. No-one believes her, not the hospital staff, her husband or even her dad but Sasha won’t let it drop so much so that she is admitted to the psychiatric mother and baby ward.

Is all as it seems or is Sasha right in her thinking ? Has there been a terrible mix up ?

The story is so well written and really draws you in, so much so that I started to question everything Sasha was saying as well as everyone else in the story. What is the truth ?

This is a fantastic read and really keeps you guessing. The end for me was totally unexpected but I absolutely enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it. I am looking forward to reading more books from Susi Fox in the future.

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book

this book hits all the nerves, its also a book that first time mums should avoid...this is the stuff of nightmares and beyond...it can also make you feel uncomfortable but eager to read on and see what happens next...

its hard to describe this book without giving spoilers and you really need to read it yourself to find out what happens next....

When Sasha wakes from an emergency c section she is told that her beautiful baby boy is in the nicu and doing well, Sasha is confused as she believed she was having a girl. I’m meeting her son, she feels that something isn’t right and the boy in the incubator isn’t her son, but no one will believe her, believing instead that she is suffering from some sort of post natal psychosis. Now very much alone, Sasha must try and get to the bottom of this mistake and find her own baby all by herself.

An uncomfortable read at times due to a personal experience, but wonderfully written and I look forward to reading more from Susi Fox.

Sasha, a pathologist and 35 weeks pregnant, is involved in a car accident resulting in her going into early labour. awaking in hospital she discovers her baby has been delivered by emergency caesarean and is in the special baby care ward. when she is taken to meet her baby son she is adamant he is not her child but no one will believe her including her own husband.

whilst this is a good read i found it dragged on abit too long for my liking.

A hideous reality or a delusional nightmare?

This is a truly formidable debut. The main story is broken down into minuscule time fragments - this serves to draw you in deeper as you actually feel that you are living every single frantic moment. Every single word is perfectly plotted to ensure that it maximises the overwhelming feelings of anxiety, horror and terror.

The prose is dark and descriptive - breathing life into Sash and the horrific situation she finds herself in. Is it a hideous reality or a delusional nightmare? Either way It had me completely in its grip. I raced through it in 24 hours and even that felt like too long. Like Sash I had to know the truth.

As the pages ahead began to diminish and my fear enveloped me I hurtled through this book with my heart in my mouth. Barely coming up for air and certainly not taking my eyes off the page.

Thank you so much to the Publisher and to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review. Highly recommended.

Mine is a book like nothing I’ve read before. It covers such a sensitive subject of miscarriage, potential IVF, marital problems.

Sash is pregnant with a longed for baby. After an emergency caesarean with a general anaesthetic, she is finally allowed to meet her baby. But this isn’t her baby. Everyone including her husband thinks she’s delusional and fear she wants to steal another baby. Everyone thinks she’s losing her mind. But she’s a doctor so surely she knows the truth.

This book is an absolute page turner from start to finish. It’s thrilling and heartbreaking all at once and I can highly recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin UK Michael Joseph and the author for the chance to review.

Really enjoyable read. The story is essentially about Sasha and her husband Mike and what happens when Sasha has her baby (early). We also see a couple of other characters, her father and friend, Bec, who add another dimension. I won't say too much as I don't want to spoil the story but make sure you read to the end!

An interesting premise, alot of women could relate to-it would be their worse nightmare. However,it didn't grab me,the story was slow moving and the end a let down..

A very clever book that plays with your mind so you're not sure who to believe. This is about Sash who wakes up after her baby is born prematurely and she needed a c-section. Instead of feeling full of maternal love and adoration when she sees him she is convinced that the baby isn't her baby. People write her off as being crazy but is she? Or has there been deceit at play.
Lots of twists and turns and kept me hooked throughout,. There was parts which I felt were sluggish. The medical knowledge in the book is brilliant and really helped me as a reader. It's a solid psychological thriller which I enjoyed very much.

Sasha wakes up after an emergency caesarean and refuses to believe that the baby boy she is shown is her son. The novel follows her attempts to convince the hospital, her husband, friends and family that she has been given the wrong baby. As the reader you aren't certain whether Sasha is right or wrong.

This is a dark novel which deals with the issues of miscarriage and mental illness. The author is a GP and there is a lot of medical detail. I did find the novel a little too long and some aspects were slightly implausible. It is marketed as a psychological thriller but I'm not convinced that that is an accurate description.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

I was looking forward to reading this book but have to say found it a bit slow and too drawn out. After being told that she was having a girl when she came round after a c-section and was shown a baby boy she started to tell everyone that the baby wasn't hers. This book wasn't for me but others may like it. .
