Brilliant book.
A real page turner again from this author.
Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
Thanks a million Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book. A truly moving rags to riches story. Loads of tears so keep those tissues beside you. Highly recommend and I'd give it more than five stars if I could.
Review: Lyn Andrews is a fairly new author for me. My Grandma has given me several of her books to read and if they are anything like this one I cannot wait.
This book is very enjoyable and is a defiant page turner. Well written with lovely descriptions of the settings and characters it really highlights the times of the 1900's.
A story following Lizzie has to use her courage to survive life. This story is full of hope, hardship, family and romance. I loved it.

Liverpool, 1901. The Tempest family is all but destitute, barely able to put food on the table. When Florrie falls ill with pneumonia and Arthur is imprisoned after a drunken fight, their thirteen-year-old daughter Lizzie finds herself parentless, desperate and alone.
Despite her young age, Lizzie has spirit and determination, and she knows that she must find work to keep herself off the streets. In a stroke of luck, she gets a job in the match factory, and foreman George Rutherford takes her under his wing. A new home with the Rutherfords promises a safe haven, but the years ahead will be far from trouble-free. And when Lizzie gives her heart, how can she be sure she has chosen a better man than her own father?
Another wonderful family saga by Lyn Andrews. Ms Andrews ,in my opinion writes superb family sagas and I just love when a new one appears . This book is so well written me it gives us an insight into what life was like for many people in Liverpool in the 1900’s. I loved it .
Enjoyable characters. Good descriptions of those times and place.
Fantastic story, relatable characters and although predictable at times, thoroughly entertaining!

A tale of poverty, hardships and people who stepped in to help their neighbours even though they did not have much themselves. Lizzie gets taken in by George and his wife Eileen so that Lizzie could help Eileen around the house and learn how to sew to help Eileen with her work as a seamstress. George learns Lizzie to read and she learns how to draw patterns and designs, and eventually gets herself a job in Lewis's home department store. She eventually moves to London for a job in Liberty's. But eventually has to return to Liverpool to save George from killing himself through drink. A heartwarming and at times heartbreaking read. Lyn Andrews at her best.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Headline and the author Lyn Andrews for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoy reading historical fiction and this is the first book I have read by this author. I found the characters likable and really felt for the main character Lizzie. The book is set in The early 1900's, Lizzie is born into poverty, with a mum who loves her and tries to do her best for her but her father doesn't care and spends most of his time in the pub. Unfortunately for Lizzie things soon take a turn for the worse when her mother falls ill but Lizzie finds herself living with her neighbour and things in her life start to improve.
I found this an enjoyable, easy read. If you like this kind of story I would recommend this book
