Krista is basically a spoiled and privileged young woman who has to grow up and become a human for the sake of her child. She discovers family secrets even she learns about herself. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
I absolutely loved this book. It was atmospheric and engaging and had me thinking about it long after I finished it. That's a sign of a great book.
Krista has a great life, she lives in Manhattan and her family have a summer home on Martha’s Vineyard. Krista wants to change her life when she finds she is pregnant, she gives up dancing and moves to The Vineyard. Life does change, but is it as she imagined it. An interesting story, which I enjoyed reading.
There are very few books I read that I can't find something to like. This story left me a little flat. The story line was a little choppy. Krista decides to start making some decisions about her life and later regrets how some people were hurt by her actions. Story deals with the tough subject of young adult pregnancy and abortion. Couldn't really relate to Krista, probably felt more for her mother. I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Interesting story about woman making her own decision about a pregnancy. Not very easy to read.
A little disconnected.
I felt connected to the story and what Krista was going through, but I felt the dialogue seemed so unnatural and didn’t flow well for me. It really distracted from the story as whole.
I was drawn by the interesting premise of a woman deciding how she wants to live her own life, leaving a career as a professional dancer to find her way as mother and woman living life on her own terms, coming to grips with her past and setting direction for the future. Unfortunately, heavy-handed, violently purple prose was too much for me to continue reading past the first pages. Please, dear writer, if you are reading this, continue developing your craft -- you depict New York so well, the individuals, the scenes that I look forward to your next book.
Krista has always led a priviledged life with homes and in New York and Martha's Vineyard so when she discovers that she is pregnant she is suddenly faced with the real world and having to make her own decisions. Unsure of what she wants she leaves her boyfriend Michael to go back to the place of her idyllic childhood summers Martha's Vineyard to make her own choices...... but are her memories of the summer idylls all that she thought?
An enjoyable book, I found it a bit slow to start but once into it it was worth the effort
