Ethan and Mia's story was a cute love story. Mia is a big city kind of girl who falls for the small town cowboy. There is an instant spark between them even though it's a hate spark that grows into something big for each of them as they find themselves through each other.

This was a good small town romance and I liked all of the characters except for the politician that Mia represented. He did come around, but he was exhausting. I loved how Ethan's family is protective and inclusive and I could see the stories that will be coming for Ethan's sisters.

I listened to this audio and the narrators did a great job telling this story. There was emotion and depth added to each of the characters through their voice.

Did not receive/read in time due to technical error on kindle/tablet. Not having left feedback has due to error has impacted my shelves. Leaving 4 stars.

I requested this several years ago and I don't think it's a book for me anymore. So I will not be reviewing at this time, but if I do read it, I will update this review. Thank you for the opportunity.

The Start of Something Good is the second Jennifer Probst book I've read. I enjoyed the characters and setting of this one much more. I expect the author intended for us not to like Mia at the start, but her growth as the story developed had me rooting for her. Ethan was well written hero and I liked this couple, but what has me looking forward to reading more in the Stay series is the setting, community, and peripheral characters, about whom I would would enjoy hearing in future books.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I really enjoyed this story and how well developed it was. Ms. Probst did an amazing job mixing the battered veteran with the harried big city woman. The slow build of their relationship made me believe these two could work.

My favorite trope is enemies to lovers, so the love/hate relationship between Ethan and Mia were excellent. I really did enjoy this story, especially with such likeable characters. The gradual love that blossomed between the two was absolutely delightful.

It was interesting, and fun, watching these two totally different personalities make it to the happy ending. Add in a distracted, widowed father running for mayor of NYC and his teenaged feeling-left-behind daughter and you've got a good story.
Mia is a high powered PR person, helping Jonathan run for mayor. His daughter Chloe has been sentenced to community service at a B&B/horse rescue center in upstate NY due to some infraction at college. Jonathan can't take time off to be at the farm with her, and the only person he trusts is Mia, definitely not a country person. Ethan is a forced-into-retirement Special Service vet who has come home to finish recouperating and to help his sisters with the farm and B&B.. Mia and Ethan are like oil and water at first, but slowly they realize there's something else going on. Meanwhile, Chloe is blooming at the farm, even though she still has contact with some undesirable people.
When you learn what each has gone through, and why Mia is so gung-ho to make Jonathan win, and why Ethan's PTSD is so crippling, the story makes more sense. Now I can't wait to see what the deal is with his sister Ophelia (!) and a long-time friend of Ethan.

Enemies to lovers was a sweet life lesson…

Oh, how I wanted to dislike Mia. On the surface, a cold, emotionless woman, dedicated to her PR firm and her superficial life in New York City. Oh, how very wrong I was. Her interactions with Ethan at the beginning, however, made me pause. Ethan was abrupt, keeping himself aloof as much as he could even in the midst of family and home. Sparks flew, and not the good kind as they took an immediate dislike to each other. Circumstances brought them together, he was recovering and she was forced working, and abused animals were not the only creatures in need of rescuing… Throw in a rebellious teen with a story of her own and this story had it all…

Including funny moments and others that made me misty. These characters held a lot of pain just under the surface as they became more comfortable with each other, and themselves. They changed and the feel of the story with it as it became more emotional and, for me, completely mesmerizing…

The lead characters were wonderfully human as they morphed from what I thought, at first, might be cookie cutter stereotypes into their own complicated, relatable selves. They made me laugh, and tear up, and simply enjoy watching it all play out.

Can’t wait for more in this series!

This was a decent story and I somewhat enjoyed both the hero and the heroine. Ethan and Mia were well-written characters. However, nothing really stood out making it a great book.

I love Jennifer Probst, she is amazing. And this book was as well. Fun, sweet, addicting, the heroine is really intelligent, bright, loyal, she deserves respect. The story turns from hate to love, and this trope is one of my favorites. The story-arc was good as they come and all in all I was happy with this book. Would recommend it.

Jennifer Probst is a hit or miss for me. That said The Start of Something Good was a HUGE miss for me. I tried, I really did, but I just couldn't get into this one. It was a long book, which usually doesn't bother me. But this book was large and SLOW... If I could have gotten into the story, I would have loved it. But the characters just didn't grab me, and the storyline fell flat for me.

Because of my inability to read this one fully through, I will not be writing a review on my social media platforms.

Jennifer Probst requires no introduction as one of the most talented contemporary romance writers! Her new series starts off with something really good for sure.

"The Start Of Something Good" brings Ethan Bishop and Mia Thrush together to give them a new leash of life even as they clash with a fiery passion, but then it all leads to "The Start Of Something Good"!

[SPANISH BELLOW]

I began to read the author in Spanish with the book called: Searching for Someday. I read Searching for Someday last year and I loved it, I really knew I wanted to read more about this author.

This saga hasn’t been published in Spanish so I taked the risk and I reading it in English, I don't regret anything. Sometimes I find hard to read in English because of the lack of habit, but I can tell you that this book is addictive, it hooked me completely and despite the language I read it in a very short time.

The story is adorable, entertaining and I really liked it. Mia is a workaholic city girl who suddenly has to go to a farm. There she will meet Ethan, a man who has just arrived from a very tough mission and just wants some peace. In this novel, we find the typical story of enemies to lovers that I enjoy so much. The two protagonists have a lot of chemistry and I have loved every scene they have together.

In addition, we found many secondary characters that I am looking forward to knowing more.

Enjoyed this new book in this new series by Author Jennifer Probst.

I instantly fell for the main characters of Ethan & Mia!

I liked the set up of all the characters introduced for future books in this series.
Book has a good amount of romance, humor and sweet moments that are signature style of Author Jennifer Probst's writing.

I'm hooked and dived into the second book right after this one.

My Thoughts:
Lately, I've been trying to make progress on a goal of mine. I'd like to have all of my books on my TBR read by 2021. I don't know if that's going to happen because I have a lot, but I'd like to try. I've been using my Kindle Unlimited subscription to listen to a lot of my TBR books as audiobooks. I have a lot of Jennifer Probst's books, so I decided to start with The Start of Something Good on Audible. After finishing the book, I thought it was fairly good.

I do have to admit, I was bored with the first half of The Start of Something Good. During the first fifty percent or so of the book, I felt like not much happened. The plot was slow to start. I also didn't like the main character, Mia, at all. I thought she was a spoiled, stuck up, rich brat. In fact, the only character that I really liked from the beginning was Hei Hei. He cracked me up, and continued to do so throughout the book.

However, the second half of The Start of Something Good completely changed my opinion of the book. It redeemed the whole thing for me. I found myself really loving the book for the first time. It was full of intriguing drama that kept me wondering what was going to happen between Chloe and her friends. I also loved the humor that happened when the elderly couples were around. I remember I was sitting at Starbucks with my headphones in, finishing the book. I was trying not to laugh out loud throughout the second half of the book so people didn't think I was crazy. By then end of the book, I even loved all of the characters, including Mia.

After a slow start, I found myself really enjoying The Start of Something Good. I'm not sure if I will read the second book in the series because the book ended in a way that tied most of the story line together, other than the thing that was talked about towards the end with Ethan's sister and his best friend. If I do read it, it will be a little while due to my overwhelming TBR that I need to get through first. However, I have other Jennifer Probst books on that TBR that I plan on reading asap. I hope that her fun sense of humor continues throughout her other books.

I give The Start of Something Good: 3.5/5.

The Start Of Something Good is the start of a really good series. This book is a touching, romantic comedy/enemies lovers and very entertaining read. It's the breath of fresh air that I needed and thoroughly enjoyed.

Mia is a witty, sassy and successful owner of a public relations firm in Manhattan. She's been given the task of being the temporary guardian of a nineteen year old college student named Chloe who's gotten herself into some legal trouble. Chloe just happens to be the daughter of one of Mia's clients who's running for mayor and her legal problems would have a negative effect on his campaign. Chloe has been sentenced to serve community service hours at a Bed & Breakfast/Horse Rescue Farm in a small country town in upstate New York. Reluctantly, Mia has no choice but to spend her summer guarding Chloe and it's the last place on earth she would rather be.

Ethan is a brooding former military agent and Hollywood bodyguard who returns to his home town after suffering tragedy and heartbreak. He shares ownership and works at the Horse Farm with his two sisters. When meet the uppity city girl and down to earth country boy meet, their dislike for each other is immediate. The clever comedic banter begins and so does their undeniable attraction. The Start Of Something Good has the perfect balance of hysterical love/hate relationship, intimate and swoon-worthy moments. I found Ethan and Mia to be very charming couple. They made each other come alive and their deep connection was palpable. Reading how their relationship developed, was very heart warming.

One of my favorite things about this book is the "Golden Girls" crew!!! These guests at the inn brought hilarious noteworthy comic relief.

I truly enjoyed The Start Of Something Good from beginning to end and I can't wait to read the next book, A Brand New Ending.
