I absolutely loved this book. There ard some touching moments within the book, that are beautifully written. I struggled with wanting to read more of the book whilst save a couple of chapters because i didn't want it to end. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have been able to read this story.

Curl up by a roaring fire with a glass of wine and a hanky and enjoy this heart-warming romance of missed opportunities, friendships, tears and laughter. It's a lovely read, the characters are all real and Laurie in particular comes alive on the page. It's a romance so suspend belief a bit and just go with the flow, enjoy the twists and turns and wallow in the hopelessly romantic ending.

This book got off to a generic start, it was fun and an easy read but half way through things got a little more interesting with the addition of Ollie and I became much more invested in Laurie’s actions. I was so pleased she’d taken herself away from temptation and did something for her aside from dwelling on a single moment over a year ago.

To be honest I didn’t want a happy cheesy ending, I wanted an ending which was more “real life”. Both Laurie and Jack had missed their chance and I’d have felt more satisfied if they both went their separate ways and were happy and content in their choice - but perhaps that’s just me.

Overall this is a really lovely book with twists and interesting characters that keep up the pace. A great summer read. 4 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin and Josie Silver for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Very sweet easy to read book. It seemed awfully long. I did enjoy it but I found myself getting very frustrated with the characters. It was very sad in places but a nice read on the whole.

I really enjoyed this book. I found the characters well - drawn and was totally immersed in their lives. It is a love story of missed chances, bad timing and misunderstandings where the ups and downs of the characters kept me turning the pages long into the night. A Christmas book for all seasons and I will look for the next novel by Josie Silver. I highly recommend it.

A cute, light read about missed connections and destiny. The characters and complex and well thought out and the plot flows smoothly.

Another love story which proves once again that timing always comes at the worst of times. The attraction between the two main characters is ever so present but life just decides to kick in and the next thing you know, you're forced to live your own separate ways with different

The love story between Laurie and Jack is sad yet heartbreaking that at one point, I wanted to put this book on hold and pick up another book to read but such events and incidents had occured in their story that it made me cave in and read it until the end. I was glad and happy that the ending wasn't heartbreaking and that they have found their light and happiness in the end.

The near ending where they finally decided to fight for one another was a scene so beautiful. It was the kind of scenes where one of the characters are running through an airport, confessing their love in public or even during a downpour that what happened in this book is up to par with movie scenes we have all watched about a couple of times.

This beautiful yet heart wrenching story written by Josie Silver is a book I would definitely recommend to read snuggled up, especially during cold season where love will always find your way, long way at last.

One day in December isn't my usually style of book to read but I was looking for something light to read for a change. The book tells the story of Sarah, Laurie and Jack as their lives are entwined and separated. Told over a few years, we leap quickly through their lives sharing in their heartache, happiness and drama.
A nice easy read, perfect for the beach despite the title of the book being Wintery.

Thank you NetGalley for granting me access to this unforgettable love story, and reducing me to a bit of a wreck.
Not due for release until late in 2018 it feels odd to be reading this in Spring. Timing aside, this is a love story that references some well-known tales and offers exactly what you’re expecting though not quite as easily as you’d expect it to.
Laurie catches a glimpse of a boy as she sits on the bus one evening. A simple event, but there’s something that intrigues her about this boy and she spends months looking for him. Unfortunately her happy ending looks very unlikely when best friend Sara asks her to meet her new boyfriend...and it’s the boy at the bus-stop.
Over the next few years Jack and Laurie settle into their roles. They are happy with their respective partners and seem quite stoical about the way things planned out. To the reader it is glaringly obvious that they are both more than a little keen on each other, and though it’s all very adult the way they behave you can’t help but hope they get to a position where they eventually take a chance.
So many events happen over the course of the story, and some are more relevant to their story than others. The closing section was worthy of a Christmas movie to warm your cockles and I can only imagine how good it would feel to be reading this tucked up in front of the fire.

I literally devoured this book. I loved all the characters and cried more than once. I’m a hopeless romantic and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. I liked the two perspectives which gave depth to the narrative. Well done Josie Silver

If you are the mood for a fun, sweet, heart-warming read with attractively relatable characters, I recommend this. I devoured it in one like cramming in bites of a giant chocolate cupcake.

Great things about this book: it is a pleasing mix of slightly fantastical romance and reality. The underlying premise is a bit farfetched- Laurie the girl’s eyes meets Jack the boy’s eyes across a crowded bus stop and an instant connection is made, only to be foiled by the efficient British transport system and the brisk closing of the bus doors. Laurie meets Jack a year later at a party only to discover he’s now dating Sarah, her gorgeous best friend and flatmate- what are the chances? Still, it works and adds a right sort of sense of fate/destiny to the whole thing. The course of bus love does not run smoothly however and as the years pass, there’s a certain amount of real life sort of drama that keeps the story plausible as to why the main characters don’t drop everything and run off into the sunset together. There is a strong underpinning of female friendship between Sarah and Laurie while at the same time a recognition that the situation does not always make for easy choices. The unresolved sexual tension between Laurie and Jack throughout is riveting and kept me turning pages

I did find the ending a tad schmaltzy but also fun. I would have also enjoyed a bit of an epilogue as I was left wondering what becomes of the characters afterwards.

Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. 4.5 stars.

Love, loss and laughter, a book full of feels. Beautiful writing, with characters you care about, this unique story pulled me in from the very beginning. It might be fluffy and Christmasy but can be read and loved anytime for the year.

When Laurie locks eyes with a handsome boy she knows instantly he is the one yet it is such a fleeting moment that she cannot possibly hope to find him again. So when her friend Sarah brings home her new boyfriend and Laurie realises he is the boy from the bus she can't tell Sarah and so begins one of the most enthralling love stories I have read in a while. Fantastic!

I really enjoyed this book and read it at one sitting on a fine day. It explores the relationships of the 3 central characters and the effects these relationships have on others. The characters are well developed through the course of the book and it is a very good read.

What a lovely book. A good Christmas feel-good read. The characters are linked together, but each tells a different tale.. A well-written and enjoyable read.

This is a wonderful book. I read it almost without stopping, I loved it. The two protagonists are lovable, Laurie more than Jack, and you really feel for them. I’m not sorry to admit I had tears in my eyes at the end. A lovely story with all the right ingredients, what a perfect tale for Christmas. I can’t repeat how much I loved this, it’s a gorgeous read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was full of twists and turns and was so gripping that after reluctantly putting down late last night I found myself picking it up again early this morning to finish it before work. I was not disappointed. It’s the story of three friends and their friendship and romances. I’ll certainly look for more work by this author in the future.

What an adorable book.
The characters were all so realistic. The author didn’t pretend that her characters had no faults and this just made them all so much better. I laughed, a lot, and spent far too much time sniffling and scrabbling my hands around, feeling out for tissues, as I couldn’t bring myself to lift my eyes from the words. I just didn’t want the book to end. Even though I devoured this book in one sitting, I felt that I had come to know Laurie, Jack and Sarah and I although I wanted to know how it was all going to work out – I just didn’t want it to end. I even tweeted the author when I had finished to congratulate her – and that’s not me at all.
I wish nothing but the best for her with this book. She really deserves this to be a huge success and I shall be singing its praises from the rooftops when we’re a little closer to the publication date.

Predictable? Yes! Screaming Richard Curtis from all the rooftops? Yes!
Laurie has a very brief glimpse of “the one” on a bus, cue lightning bolt, but subsequently discovers that he is her best friend’s boyfriend. Major awkward!
Simples, you think...bit of fluffy holiday read, you think? And yet, and yet, the characters of bezzies Laurie and Sarah will grow on you almost instantly. Will Laurie and “bus boy” come clean? You follow this group of twenty-somethings through the maze of relationships, careers and family and you cannot help but root for them, scream at them, laugh and cry with them.
And if you don’t spend a tear at the last scene, you’re some unfeeling, granite-hearted....reader!
