Didn't realise this was just a sample. Will be buying myself a copy as I want to keep reading and find out what happens next.

I have always enjoyed Paige Toon books and decided to start going through my long list of unread books and selected this one. I didn’t read the synopsis so was going in with no idea of the story line but I was very pleased I selected this book. Nell and Van are the stars of the show and the book slowly unfolds in increments of five years starting from when they met as children. Nell’s Dad was in a relationship with Van’s Mum and as such they met as young children and their friendship blossomed.

As the story progresses so do Nell and Vans life and it was an absolute joy to go along for the ride. It was glorious tale of friendship, love and loss and frankly although it is very different from her other books it was a brilliant read. I was surprised at the ending but though it was fitting and not too contrived. Although a departure from her normal type of book it was very enjoyable and one I would recommend.

Paige never disappoints. She is my go to read. Her books make my summer and this story was no different. Hugely enjoyable, full of emotion. Quite simply the perfect read.

Paige Toon is one of my favourite authors, I've read nearly all of her books and I cannot wait for the full version of this to be released.

I never don’t love reading her stories and getting to know her characters. I get utterly lost in Paige's writing and I finish her stories feeling like I've known and loved her characters for years. This didn't quite live up to her previous offering, but it was still a highlight of my reading year as Paige's books always are.

I didn't realise this was only a sample and not a full book. I'm not sure if I'd go and buy the full installment, it didn't grip me enough to do this. Thank you for letting me read and review this book.

I loved this book as did my friend, we both thought it was amazing and so well written, as are all Paige Toon books

I usually love Paige Toon’s work, but when I found out this one did not have a happy ending (at least in the traditional sense) I realized this book wasn’t for me. I know many people won’t find that the issue that I did, but for me, happy endings are a must.

This was a satisfying, heart-warming read. As I'm sure I was supposed to be, I was rooting for Nell and Van to be together at every five year meeting point, and I thought the author's handling of their entanglement was realistic and well done. The characters here were strongly drawn, and I was emotionally caught up in all the illnesses, break-ups and arguments. The ending was unexpected in the best way, and I finished the book feeling satisfied and happy.

I downloaded this sample of ‘Five Years From Now’ after hearing good things about Paige Toon’s work in the various online book clubs and communities that I’m part of. I haven’t read any of the author’s other work so can’t comment as to how it compares to her previous books.
The story opens with the main character, Nell, talking to her teenage son and then quickly moves to her childhood in Cornwall.
I read most of the sample thinking that, whilst enjoyable enough, I wasn’t convinced to download the whole book. However, an event right at the end has me intrigued as to what might happen next so maybe I’ll pick it up after all!

Another Paige Toon book! The excitement is huge every year and yet again she didn’t disappoint.

We meet Nell at the age of forty in the prologue, which is great, because it made me curious and I wanted to find out what happened. Each chapter then brings us back to her past. It starts with five years old and we finally get to meet Vian as well. Her father and his mother fall in love and Vian and Nell have to spend a lot of time together. A friendship builds. However, Vian leaves for Australia five years later, because a tragedy hits them. That changes everything.
They only see each other again five years later and a lot has changed. They have changed. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but he has to go back to Australia.

It’s only every five years they see each other afterwards as well. Their chemistry is still their, but of course their lives move one. They meet people, have boyfriends and girlfriends and soon build families as well. Things get really complicated. There is just now way, they can stay together.
This gap of five years in the chapters allows you to really get to know the characters and you realise how long five years actually are, so much can happen. We see the main characters as children, teenager, young adults and adults. Paige Toon captured this transformation beautifully and it really makes you understand them. I was hooked from the start and couldn’t put the book down.

I loved how close Nell was to her father. Family plays a very important role in this story and there are some really adorable scenes. This book has everything: romance, passion, grief, friendship, family relationships, love and so much more. I laughed, cried and just got so absorbed by this story.

Paige Toon has an amazing writing style. It’s natural, elegant, fresh, unique, vivid and really authentic.

I think the title is brilliant, the cover suits the story really well and you just fall in love with the characters and the setting. This story definitely stole my heart, especially the epilogue.

It’s a bittersweet story, which shows that love doesn’t always end with a happy end. Beautiful, emotional and touching!!!

I loved the premise of this book, starting with the modern tale of Luke and his mum and then flipping back to her childhood and how clearly she was affected by experiences of a broken home and wanting to please people

Shame it was a sampler as I was getting engrossed - definitely going onto my books to be bought list!

Not sure if it was because it was just a sample of the book, but I couldn't get into this one, which is unusual as I love Paige Toon.
