Ronica Black does it again with this book. At first I thought it would be similar to In Two Deep but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t. Avery Ashland a hotel mogul was accused of murdering her nemesis and Detectives Maria Diaz and Silas Finley were assigned to prove her guilt. Along the way Maria and Avery developed feelings which were scary for both women. The book moved quickly and kept me guessing who the murderer was. I felt the end was a bit rushed and the resolution wasn’t totally fleshed out. Overall this was a great Ronica Black read!!

Dark Euphoria hits you from several angles. Crime drama, murder mystery, erotica, and a romance are tied together when Detective Maria Diaz is assigned to track down a brutal murderer. Practically all evidence leads to resort owner Avery Ashland, whose wild sex parties for the rich and elite are legendary at her posh resort. Life becomes much more difficult for them both when there’s undeniable chemistry between them. The push and pull between them was intriguing with Maria trying to avoid conflict of interest and catching the killer, and Avery eluding the evidence that points directly to her and questioning her sanity in falling for Maria. It’s an odd mix that at times seems a bit contrived, but this author has a knack for good story-telling and sultry, erotic moments that will keep you hooked in. I was kept on the edge of my seat right right to the end, and was shocked at who the murderer was. Their epilogue was endearingly awakard and appropriately so given their unexpected romance during a murder investigation. This was a unique murder mystery that I won’t soon forget.
