I liked the first book in this series but just couldn't get with this one and I'm so sad because the first book had so much promise.

Thank you netgalley for this copy. I liked the sound of it and I do read a lot of different types of books and this looked promising. I have to say I have never read anything by this author and I would attempt another book even though I wasn't keen on this one. I got about halfway through then decided I wasn't enjoying it so to give up. And I can honestly say it's not often I give up on a book.i found the story so far fetched it was crazy. Sorry just really didn't like the characters they irritated me. But even though it's not for me it could be ok for you.

Obviously not my style of reading. Perhaps this is aimed at a younger generation of reader? There is a plot and plenty of action, which normally appeal to me but Esposito's writing is too coarse for me - I know many people today swear quite openly and freely but I feel there is unnecessarily too much here - it overrides any story-line and leads to a book without substance. For some readers Esposito's use of the underlying element of the subconscious governing the main character's actions may be quite devious but for me it just seems to give her carte blanche to do whatever she wants, without any real background support.
This just doesn't work for me but perhaps if you like a book that has plenty of straightforward killings (without any mystery), lots of swearing and sex scenes (the coarser type) then this could be for you. But if you prefer your killings more along the lines of a whodunnit or a detective mystery then this probably isn't for you.

A sex and murder romp with identical twins which spent their lives jealous of each other then mad gangsters plus Mafia bosses and set it between London and Italy and you are off on a race to see if anyone stays alive. Alvie is jealous of identical twin Beth's glamorous life but when Beth is found dead then impersonating her leads to more chaos and adventures with criminals and crooks after the money. A good read for the beach.

Hold on tight for another roller coaster of a ride where anything and everything goes.

Alvie was envious of Beth and wanted her life, well maybe she should have been careful what she wished for, as life as Beth is anything but idyllic.

Alvie is hot on the heels of Nino and she wants revenge, this brilliant cat and mouse chase takes us through Rome with more casualties and lots of hilarity strewn along the way. I’m still chucking about the hand grenade, viagra drugged cop and the priest!!

They say leave the reader wanting more and after that cliff hanger I NEED the next book in this trilogy NOW!!

My advice is to buckle up and enjoy the ride, yes it is over the top with larger than life characters but boy is it entertaining and funny.

Thank you for Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review

This book is funny, outrageous and enjoyable. I liked the anti-heroine and laughed a lot.
I also like how it describes Italy, so different from many fantasy or touristic description.
I look forward to reading the next instalment in this series and will read the previous book.
Even if it's the second in a series I had no problem in understanding what was going on.
Recommended!

The blurb for this story was misleading, I don't know what I was expecting but I barely made it halfway through this book. Not a fan.

I didn't read the first book and I can not wait to read it. My problem was only I didn't know too much for the story but the quick catch up, in the beginning, is really helpful.

Holy Mother f*cker, I can't stop grinning now I've finished MAD.  This is like Killing Eve with Dildo's.  It's rude, crude and downright dark and I absolutely LOVED it.

Alvie (Alvina) is a 26 year old twin, living (slumming) in London, working in a dead-end job and basically hating everyone and everything around her, when she gets an invitation to visit her estranged, identical twin sister Beth, who lives in Sicily in a life of riches and luxury and married to the man of Alvie's dreams.

Without spoiling the story for you, once Alvie arrives in sunny Sicily things take a rather sinister and murderous turn.  Alvie, basically, is a horny psychopath and events in Sicily allow this dark and disturbing side to come out with jazz hands and bells on.

MAD is absolutely MAD, it's hysterical, sexy, shameless and completely outrageous and 100% highly recommended by me.

I should start by saying, this book was not what I expected when I first requested it, entertaining for sure but a little.. odd?

This is not a normal read for me but, heck, it would give it a go. The events in the previous book are summed up in the first few pages of Bad, great for me as I haven't read the previous one. But, maybe a little tedious for a committed reader?

The story was good, the narrative carried you along and kept you entertained but I wouldn't say it ensnared me, it didn't keep my picking it up for more. I read it on my commute because I had nothing else to do and knew I had to write a review!

Alvie is entertaining but so so flawed. I am glad I don't know her in real life, just as a fictional character. But this is a large part of what kept me entertained so I wouldn't change it.

A good read for on your summer sun lounger - which I think is the point!

Really great read. It takes you on a really great journey of different emotions. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is the sort of book that once you start reading it, you just don want to stop. Although if you rad it our loud it sounds blocky, the words flow so well. I didnt realise it was part of a trilogy until afterwards. This is deffinetly chick lit - and aimed at an audience who like something a little silly.

The book starts in London, with Alvina. Shes the less successful twin, and really doesnt have her life together. Shes always felt the misfit, and her dont care attitude differentiates her from her twin, whos life is seemingly perfect.

We all know thats never the case though....

This book was insane! Alvie is terrifyingly self absorbed and unhinged. Her antics are fearless and crazy and as far as escapism goes you'd be hard pushed to find a story set in this world so far from reality. This story is full of sex, drugs and lots of death. Many bodies fall as she tries to exact her revenge and get back what she feels is hers. The locations are glamorous, the men (and women) hot and the crazy unstoppable. Not my usual read, but enjoyable none the less.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book at all. It seemed as though the author was trying too hard to be comical but it translated as just silly. Only got halfway through.

It's difficult to see who this book is aimed at. Alvina, the main character, is thoroughly unlikable and nothing but a caricature with no real depth. She careers from one ridiculous disaster to another in an unbelievable comedy? Thriller? I don't even know what genre this is supposed to be. It's an easy read and I didn't dislike it per se, but I can't imagine who I'd recommend it to.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Didn't realise this was a sequel, not sure it would have made a difference. Not for me. Unlikeable characters and felt very silly.

For a book that has such a beautiful cover, I’m so disappointed that it ended up being a tacky mess. I probably should have guessed from the title that this book is just plain bad.

Bad is a sequel to Mad, which follows Alvie Knightly visit her twin, accidentally kill her and then take her identity. You don’t need to read Mad before Bad, as at the start of Bad, the reader is given a full synopsis of the crazy shenanigans that took place in the prequel - and to be honest, that’s when I knew this book probably wasn’t for me. It was just so crazy and all over the place from the get go.

Alvie Knightly is a horrible character- probably one of the worst protagonists I’ve ever read in my life. There is literally nothing redeemable about her at all so when reading the book, I couldn’t sympathises with any silly situation she got herself in or be able to excuse the way she treated everyone around her.

Everything in this book is also highly implausible as well, I’d just like to add. It’s definitely not one of those crime thrillers that feels like it could actually happen. Nope, definitely not this one - especially with a main character who nicknamed her favourite sex toy ‘Mr Dick.’

I just can’t emphasise enough to people not to read this because it’s such a waste of time. And even when you think it’s finally over, and the book will end, it just doesn’t - it goes on and on and on. This is BAD. BAD BAD BAD.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I did not know that this was the second book in the Trilogy and struggled with some of the characters so for me would have been easier if I had read Mad first of all.

I'm very divided about this book. There were times when I thought, "This is so bonkers, it has to be satire" and then there were other occasions when I thought, "Oh, come on, this isn't satirical or funny, it's just silly". I did enjoy the writing, which I felt hit some very high moments, and was mostly sharp, with the dialogue fitting exactly with the characters. I thought all the players were well drawn and in keeping with the tone of the book. So what is it that is stopping me from loving this book. I'm not sure, maybe I just found the whole thing too contrived, too far-fetched. Of course, it's meant to be far fetched, so ultimately, it's all about personal taste, and it might just be that this story didn't hit the spot with me personally. But it contains all the elements necessary for a good book, so the issue is definitely me. Don't let me put you off. I'm obviously turning into a miserable curmudgeon!
