Murder Girl is the 2nd in the Lilla Love series by Lisa Renee Jones, and man does she deliver on the follow up to Murder Notes. This book is again like the first a difficult book to review without destroying plot points and giving away spoilers. This book is very suspenseful and dark, mixed with twists and turns you don’t see coming. We get a great follow up to book 1 and finally get some answers after we were left questioning so many things in book 1. Some answers are given, some we are left questioning, and now we have added even more to contemplate. While this book sticks mostly to the suspenseful side, there is a bit more romantic suspense added in from the first book. In the first book we didn’t get the typical LRJ book we are use too in the romance department. She has kicked it up a few notches in this book, however, I am really not sure that is a good thing. While I do enjoy where the story has taken a turn towards, I am very curious to see how the relationship between Lilah and Kane will play out. I am so excited we get more in book 3, and now just can’t wait for it!
I’m a big fan of Lisa Renee Jones, but unfortunately wasn’t a fan of this book.
It’s very different to what Lisa usually writes. The characters are very unlikeable, especially the main character which made it impossible to get behind her. In turn, it made it very arduous to actually finish the book.
I really hope Lisa continues with her romance novels (which I love immensely) and doesn’t concentrate
too much on this series, as in my opinion it doesn’t work very well. So sorry, Lisa!
This was book 2 in the Lilah Love series. I have to say, I enjoyed this one as much I enjoyed book 1. The characters are raw and conflicted - there is not a "fluff" series.
I look forward to seeing how the story continues in the next installment.
Thank you #netgalley and #montlakeromance for the eARC.
MURDER GIRL (Lilah Love #2) by Lisa Renee Jones is the second book in this thriller/suspense FBI profiler series and picks up right where the first book’s overall plotline left us hanging for more. You can pick up this book which has a great synopsis of book #1 in the beginning, but the first book was just as well written, so I really do recommend you take the time to read it, too.
Lilah Love is one of the best profilers in the FBI. She can get into the mind of the killers’ she profiles without emotional involvement hampering her job and so the nickname “Murder Girl”. Her present case has her returning home to the Hamptons and her ex, Kane Mendez is waiting for her. Lilah believes in law and order, but is drawn to the dark, while Kane is the bad boy, millionaire business man who could be all bad, but he continually tries to fight the dark for Lilah.
Lilah is piecing together the clues of a series of murders others believe are not connected, but she believes are done by an assassin and are all tied together. Each time she gets another piece of the puzzle, she is taken down another path that may go back years and could connect to a secret in her past and her family.
Lilah has to find the assassin, deal with her continually conflicted relationship with Kane and hopefully keep everyone she cares about alive.
Lilah is a great main character. Foul mouthed, beautiful and seriously devoted to catching killers. Her romantic interest in Kane can go so many ways and I am looking forward to seeing if the author can work out their differences enough to bring them together or if he remains more of a character who helps Lilah and just has benefits. Lilah’s FBI supervisor and the assassin, Ghost, are both going to make future books very interesting, also.
I definitely recommend this book and series. It is well written and a page turner that just keeps throwing new twists and revelations at the reader. Bring on book #3, please!
Thank you very much to Montlake Romance and Net Galley for allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for and honest review.
10 stars plus. I started reading the description of this book and the characters that are in the front and it sounded so fantastic that I went and bought book 1 so I could read it first. I loved the characters in this story so darn much. I am so intrigued by her past and what is going to happen in the next books in this series. Will she realize the truth and be able to do something? Will her badge help her or hurt her? Will she realize who she can trust and who she really wants? I am so interested in this book series AND I need them all. Thank you NetGalley and Lisa Rene Jones for allowing me to read and write about this amazing series.
Murder Girl was painful for me to read. I simply could not stand the main character, Lilah Love. I found her brash and abrasive with no redeeming qualities. I kept reading hoping I would get sucked into it, but that did not happen. Instead, I read a chapter, found something else to do, and tried again to read it.
I loved Murder Girl. There were so many twists and turns that my head is still spinning. I loved that some of the questions we were left with in book one were answered, and that now I have more questions that need answering, so I can’t wait for the third book. Thrilling, sexy, mysterious, twisted, these are words that stuck out in my mind after I finished reading. I will be impatiently waiting for the next book.
What an action packed, suspenseful, mysterious, addicting read! So many secrets, so much drama, and the twists and turns.....you don't want to put it down! Lilah Love is one tough, bad talking, smart, dedicated FBI agent. Lilah and Kane are so in sync with each other and I love them together! I want these two to get a happily ever after, but will it happen?? I can't wait for the next book!
Oh man, was waiting for this book, and was NOT disappointed. Lilah Love is searching for a killer, but will she get herself killed in the process. Lisa Renee Jones can seriously write a mystery with a hint of I know who did it, but I am wrong again! She also throws in a lot of I want to know now, should I skip to the end, but then I will never know who else gets killed. Don't forget the tension between lovers, want to be lovers, and brothers. Absolutely wonderful!!!
OMG... this book is brilliant! I don’t want o spoil this book, so just pick this up and enjoy the ride!
Agent Love is my new favorite, loved her in book one.... but this book... wow! SO well written! Twists and turns a long the way that keeps you guessing and wanting more. And I hope there is so much more....once again Lisa has written an amazing book to add to her collection.
Looking forward to what is coming next!
This adventure just keeps getting better with every new thrilling twist and exciting turn. In this book we are following the Awesomely talented Lilah as she stalks a killer that is also stalking her. The danger, mystery, drama and passion all make this a "I so can not put it down for a moment or I might miss something and regret it later" kinda read. Looking forward to getting more answers and unexpected questions in the next book.....
Book two. You know those detectives who don't smile much. All work. All gruff few manners. That's Lilah Love. FBI profiler. Daughter of former cop aspiring politician, sister of local head cop and has had and still does have feelings and a relationship with local syndicate son, Kane, who most thinks is now its leader.
She's in the Hamptons, family home, working on a vicious murder case that spreads far beyond the Hamptons. Just how many of the people she knows and loves are involved? Does this have anything to do with her secret past? A secret only she and Kane know.
Forgot to mention Lilah has a surplus of men in her life. Family. Ex-boyfriends. Old friends. Former partners. Most want to protect her. Some, maybe, want to kill her. She just has to figure out who fits on which list.
Never a dull moment. The clues are well hidden. The danger powerful and there are some steam and family tangles. Old truths may not be so true after all. You have everything in this one, especially a page-turner with unforgettable characters.

I loved this story. It was dark and twisty and sexy and so decadent. I really enjoyed Murder Notes so I was dying to get into this one. Yes, there are some answers, but even more questions and I am so involved in this series. I definitely need to read the next one. I can't wait to see where Lisa is going to take these characters and this storyline.
This is a really hard review to write as I don't want to give anything away. Once again Lisa Renee Jones keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout this second installment of the Lilah Love series. As this story progesses there's lots going on and lots of characters to keep up with as you wait to discover who Lilah can trust and who she can't whilst investigating the murders that may or may not have something to do with attack she suffered and few years ago and other things that have gone down in her past.
Romance does take a back seat in this series and Lilah's relationship with Kane is very will they, won't they I'm hoping they do ad they have amazing chemistry and work well as a team but I'm guessing time will tell.
A fabulous 5 stars from me and I can't wait for more!!!
Lisa Renee Jones is making it personal. She does this to toy with me. I swear it's true. She ends her books at the wrong spot. PERIOD. WRONG SPOT!!!!
Okay, so you argue the whole author point but really, as a reader, it's not cool. Just because she's this twisted ruler over the "imaginary world she creates" doesn't make her special! Ummm, okay, so it does but (said in a super whiney voice) I need more Lilah now!!! [Foot stomp]
Do you hear that Ms. Jones?!?!?!?! (Said in a slightly snotty, 13 year old girl voice with matching head and neck emphasis)
Sigh, you want me to be an adult- whatever!
(Coughs a sound that suspiciously is similar to buttface)
[In the most poised voice, like dubbed over with a posh English accent]
I just finished Murder Girl by Ms. Lisa Renee Jones. It was positively delightful. There is an undercurrent of dark and bad things written through this well written novel. I must say though Murder Girl is book two of the Lilah Love series and must be read after Murder Notes. Once you have enjoyed being tempted by the dark side, teased and taunted by the "love"letters (tut tut, did you catch that little pun?), and are engrossed in the coincidences, you will need more.
[With a less posh accent and the regular voice of this crazed reader]
MORE!!! More Lilah! Free Lilah! We want more LOVE! #MoreLoveToGive
Okay, so the adult in me takes a backseat when I need more. This series, and honestly any I've read by this author, has got me by the proverbial short hairs and until I know what's up, the grip only seems to tighten.
Lilah Love is a woman on a mission. She is determined and set in her ways. She rarely takes shit from anyone but is always dishing it out. She's tough as nails, has bigger balls than most men, and isn't upset by corpses. Clearly, she is a badass. She's my kind of ride or die chick.
Her story is a very unique one. And it seems that it's constantly being updated. Things aren't always what they seem. People aren't always who they pretend to be. And Lilah, well, Lilah has to wade through all the shit to find the real.
I can't say it enough, I need more Lilah Love.
In the second installment of The murder series by Lisa Renee Jones. We find Liliah Love and Kane where we last see them. Lisa gave us a cliffhanger at the end of Murder Notes but she doesn't disappoint us when she brings us Murder Girl. Through the story we learn more history of not only Lilah but her family and Kane. This book had me wonder who it was and why until the end. The suspense, mystery, murder, and heat of this book will keep you on your toes. Even with all the suspense and drama Lisa finds away of bringing a little humor to the story. With Lilah 'hangery' moments to dealing with the heat with Kane and the love/hate with the men in her life. I've absolutely fallen for Agent Love and Kane hope there is more to come for them. Thanks for the ARC from the publisher, netgalley, and Lisa Renee Jones this is my honest review.
Murder Girl starts off exactly where Murder Notes ended and Lisa gives a quick review of what happened in Murder Notes just to bring us quickly up to speed in case anything was forgotten.
What I love about this series is the suspense and mystery of things and Lilah (I really want inside her head!). Without giving much away in lines of the plot, I will try to be brief which will most likely keep this review very vague in terms of what to expect.
There are some characters in this book that add to the suspense of everything playing out but the biggest one is obviously Kane. Kane is the only one Lilah feels she can trust but I felt their interactions had a lot of build up in the romance portion with a huge letdown. As I said, my biggest love for this book is the suspense, so I am not looking for a lot of romance. But when you keep hinting at, I am expecting something at some point.
Overall, Lisa delivers another amazing novel in this series. She answers some things, but still leaves us with more unanswered questions. I am curious to see where Lisa takes this now that we've been introduced to a secret society.....
3 Agent Love Stars
I was intrigued with book 1 and so I had to continue. This books focus is on connecting dots. Lilah is burning every bridge in sight and it makes me question who she is and if she is an effective FBI profiler after all. The book is unnecessarily long because I just don’t feel I need to know every meal she never eats and the building of a relationship that doesn’t feel complete. I think the story would have been enhanced if she wasn’t an FBI agent because her attitude and responses were not FBI worthy. I thought this series was a 2 book series but now I can see this book going on for a few more books at this pace. This second book will leave you with way more questions than answers so keep that in mind~
I have to start by saying if you haven’t read the first book, stop here and go read it first! These are not stand-alone books and I really don’t want to spoil anything! Lisa Renee Jones jumps right back into Lilah Love’s story and the mystery. I do appreciate the recap that she gives at the beginning of the book, there are so many characters in play and so much going on, it was a good to have the reminder.
These books suck me in to the world that Lilah Love lives in, although it’s not a very nice one and it’s definitely hard to tell who I like and who I don’t most of the time. I felt hot and cold with so many of these characters, second guessing them just as Lilah does. Now, she definitely gets some answers in this book, but there are now even more questions. Kane’s role changes a bit from the previous book and we see what these two really do mean to each other. I also think we see Lilah coming to terms with who she is and who she wants to be. I really don’t want to give much away, because it is quite the journey!
This book has a good pace and a story line that kept me reading, just needing to know what was going to happen next. I’m intrigued and invested and while I thought I’d get more answers in the second book, I have a lot more questions and I’m looking forward to seeing where this series will go next! Another great, thrilling read from Lisa Renee Jones, filled with suspense, heat and twists!
Murder Girl is book 2 in the Lilah Love Series. Something that Lisa Renee Jones does that I wish all authors would do is create a recap of the previous book. She also does a glossary of her character’s so you can refer back to. I think this is so useful especially for complicated series but, also if there has been any time between books. It just helps to remind you of the previous book and gets you ready for the one you are about to read. So, THANK YOU for the recap Lisa Renee Jones! You have done this for other books that I have read by you.
Book 2 starts out where Book 1 Murder Notes ended. Kane and Lilah are standing in Kane’s garage with Lilah pointing a gun at Kane and the patriarch to the Romano family is tied to a chair. That’s all you will get from me. It is a very good book and I am loving this new series by Lisa Renee Jones! If you love romantic mysteries/suspense you should read this series but, you do need to start with Murder Notes so you will know what is going on. I loved the story. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. 5 Stars
