Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
Another great read, I do so love this series.
DI Hillary Green has handed in her resignation to the shock of her team...they really don't want to see her go. But after Janine's killing of her husband's murderer (Hillary's former boss and best friend), involving Hillary, the subsequent media storm and police investigation has put the two in the crosshairs of Superintendent Vane. He would love nothing more than to discredit Hillary before he moves on to his next job. On top of that, Hillary has only 2 weeks to solve a murder. She's determined to solve the case, so she can leave her job with pride and dignity.
The victim, a larger than life womanizer and gambler was clubbed to death at the warehouse compound where he worked. The odious Frank Ross happens to be the night watchman there...Poor Hillary thought she'd finally got rid of him after helping to nudge him off her team - up to no good as usual, he makes life difficult for her again. Just what she needs!
It's amazing how Faith Martin is able to keep this series so fresh, every book is a delight which makes me eager to get to the next one. Can't wait for the next one, when Hillary starts the next chapter of her life.

What a fantastic read, thoroughly enjoyed it. I love this series of books they are always so full of twists and tension. This was a real page turner, I had a real job putting it down. I didnt see that ending coming it took me completely by surprise. Cant wait for the next one in the series!

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
Hillary works her last case as a DI before her early retirement - a murder on a business park - and pleasingly Frank Ross turns up as the night watchman. There is the murder investigation, the scam Frank is involved in, and the continuing saga of the mess Janine has got Hillary into. Each of these novels includes chunks filling the reader in on Hillary's ex-husband etc from way back before book 1 starts and I wonder if it is really necessary, although at least references to the infamous Dick Francis novel have petered out.
A quick enjoyable read. I look forward to the series where Hillary works on cold cases.
