Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Love, Lies, and Wedding Cake is a fun read. There’s an interesting juxtaposition between a lighthearted and serious vibe. Take a mental vacation to this fun location and enjoy the delicious food without worrying about the calories!

Important themes and elements of the story:
Theme of being at different seasons in life and yet still finding a way to come together. Second chances. Second marriages. New adventures. Being in love and finding a way to make it work can be one of the greatest adventures of all. Concept that it’s important to take care of your children but it’s also important to be true to yourself and be an example to them by pursuing your dreams. How can you show your children that they should pursue their dreams if you don’t pursue your own dreams?

In a Nutshell: Fun rom-com perfect for your Summer reading list.

This was a middle-of-the-road read for me. While I liked a lot of aspects, there were some things I disliked, and overall, I just didn't feel strongly enough about the book to really warrant adding an in-depth review to the blog.

I loved this book. It was just so cute, so funny. Total chick lit and it just put me in a great mood. I loved all of the characters, they were so witty, and the storyline was just really sweet.

Sue Watson has this magic way of making you fall in love with her characters. Another good, easy and emotional read.

Thanks to Bookouture for allowing me to read this in exchange for a review

This was a good book. I enjoyed the characters and didn't get annoyed by them. I would read more books from this author in the future.

I really liked Love, Lies and Wedding Cake. It had a lot of funny moments that were absolutely refreshing to see in a novel. I loved all the characters and how different they all were. They each brought something unique to the book. The romance was wonderful as well and now I kind of want to visit Australia....even though there's so many creepy crawlers there that were conveniently (and thankfully) left out of this book. Overall I think if you are in the mood for a funny and light hearted read, then this book is for you.

I hadn't read the first book in this series, but I don't think that mattered.

A quick and easy read, funny in places but also quite sad in places too.

What a 'bruddy' brilliant book!! Ms. Watson has done it again, given a book so full of love, laughter, and ridiculously loving characters. The warmth Sue Watson's writing exudes literally lights up my day. Even a heart soaked in pain finds solace and a way to smile with this book.
"Death is not the greatest loss of life, the greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live"

Dan and Faye are in love; he proposes, she says no as she has to be there for her daughter Emma and granddaughter Rosie, and her degree in English literature. Dan moves to Australia. The break up. Fast forward one year, Faye has no responsibilities, she wants to be with Dan and rushes to Australia. But there is a shock waiting for her...

Sue Watson's books are always about love and keeping an open heart. Her books make you fall in love, to understand the power of love and to heal. Faye is fabulous in her role, I could identify with her decisions, her pain, her guilt, and finally her heart. The other characters especially granddaughter Rosie was so cute that I longed to spend more time with them. The story has the first half in England with Dan in Faye's life and second half in Australia with Faye in Dan's life. Both parts show how life and love finds its own way back!!

Easy and fun book to read. I enjoyed the characters and thought the author did a great job of "taking" me to England and Australia. Grab your coziest chair and a glass of your favorite refreshment and enjoy! Thanks netgalley for supplying the download from the publisher. The opinion is my own.

This was easy to read and the feel good factor of chick lit! Was disappointed that I didn’t know it was a serial although I don’t think it spoilt it for me! In the midst of all the serial killer, suspense, murder it was a nice bit of escapism.

A quick easy read. This is a curl up on the sofa read. I liked the characters and the descriptions of the beautiful scenery. I did not realise that this is was a sequel but it works well as a standalone as well.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Faye is having a great time since she met Dan a gorgeous Aussie and they have been having great fun... but all good things come to an end and Dan's brother is dying and'so he has to go back to Australia. Totally in love with Faye Dan proposes and wants her to go back with him but Faye feels unable to leave her daughter and grandaughter who she helps look after and so they split. A year later Faye's daughter decides to leave and move to Scotland....... is it too late for Faye and Dan now or has he moved on?

A lovely lighthearted summer read. I haven't read the first part but it didn't matter at all..... although I might go back and read it now!

I did not realize when I read this book that it was a sequel. That didn’t really matter because the author did a good job setting the story for those of us who had not read the first book. The book is cute. The story goes exactly how you think it will and the one attempt at a twist I saw coming, Still a fun read.

I had just come off of a downer of a book, so Love, Lies and Wedding Cake was the perfect antidote. It was a light easy read, and I breezed through it.

Faye is a hairdresser, a mother who has sacrificed her independence to help raise her granddaughter. But Faye also has a hot Australian boyfriend that she gets to enjoy around her daughter's daycare needs.

When Dan proposes and asks Faye to move back to Australia, she puts her desires aside and says no, she needs to be here for her daughter and granddaughter. Ugh. Faye puts on a stiff upper lip and gets on with her life without Dan.

But a year later, her daughter decides to get married and move herself and her daughter to Scotland. So now Faye wants to reconcile with Dan, but he's not answering her calls or texts. But she decides to go to Australia for the chance to talk to him and see if their love can be rekindled.

But when she gets there she finds more complications than she is sure she wants at this stage of life. Will it be worth it to be with Dan? A great book about how amazing the second chapter of life can be!

Love, Lies, and Wedding Cake by Sue Watson
Book #2: Love, Lies, and Lemon Cake Series
Source: Netgalley
My Rating: 4½/5 stars

Faye is living life to its fullest! She has a hot, considerate, kind, culinary god of a boyfriend, she’s on her way to completing her college degree, and her daughter and granddaughter are a delightful part of her life. What’s more, when the mood strikes, she and the aforementioned boyfriend hop a flight to some fantastic destination and soak up all of one another they can before returning to their “real” lives. Yeah, Faye is living life to its fullest . . . .

Dan, otherwise known as the hot, considerate, culinary god boyfriend loves Faye beyond all doubt and reason, but he is not living most of his life to its fullest. He loves Faye, he loves their weeks and weekends away, and he loves her family, but England isn’t home nor is it where he wants to spend the rest of his days. Dan doesn’t want to leave Faye, but he does want to go home to Australia, see his ailing brother through his final days, and open the café he’s always dreamed of owning. The only thing missing from his grand life plan is Faye who adamantly insists she can’t leave her daughter and granddaughter.

Though Faye is certain her decision to stay with her daughter and granddaughter was the right choice, she is terribly saddened by Dan’s absence. She goes about her days and nights, working diligently toward her degree, and caring for her granddaughter, but there is absolutely something missing in her life, and that is Dan. Trouble is, unless something dramatically and drastically changes, Faye just can’t see how she and Dan can ever be together again. Long distance is hard enough, but long distance across the world and across hemispheres, impossible. Lucky for Faye, something dramatically and drastically changes.

In the more than year since leaving Faye behind in England, Dan has moved forward with his life, but never beyond Faye. Sure, there’s been a fling or two, but nothing and no one can ever replace Faye in Dan’s heart. Lucky for Dan, things in Faye’s life have dramatically and drastically changed which is how he has found himself at the airport waiting for her arrival. Trouble is, things in Dan’s life have also dramatically and drastically changed and if he and Faye are going to make it as a couple, he’s got some serious explaining to do and she’s got some super-serious thinking to do!

The Bottom Line: I had no idea this was the second book in a series, and while normally that revelation would make me hella crazy, it really didn’t here as I found this read, all on its own to be supremely satisfying. In fact, I blazed through Dan and Faye’s story in a single sitting and regret nothing! I just devoured this well-written, emotional, often funny read. There is so much here for readers to enjoy including a solid couple/romance you can’t help but root for, a tiny little dynamo with a potty mouth, a crazy salon owner, and food descriptions that will make even the pickiest eater’s mouth water. In all, I couldn’t care less what happened in the first book in this series and don’t feel like I was missing anything by starting (albeit inadvertently) with this book!

Love, Lies and Wedding Cake by Sue Watson is the 2nd book in the Love, Lies and Lemon Cake series. Faye is dating Dan, who is from Australia, they both are very busy but manage to take trips together. When Dan announces that he is going to move back to Australia, his family needs him, he asks Faye to marry him. Faye is not willing to leave England where her daughter and granddaughter live. What is going to happen, well you need to read this book. This book was a good romance, where the couple has it's ups and downs.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I didn't realise that this was a sequel but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of it and I didn't feel like you needed to read the first one to understand this one. I found the writing to be the right mix of emotional and comedic, especially the little 4 year old who gets some great lines. Characters were well developed and the storyline was easy to understand and enjoyable. While I didn't agree with all the decisions the characters made this simply added to the realism of them, in my opinion. A recommended light read.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
