I believe this is a follow up from love lies and lemon cake. I haven't read book no1 so I don't know if I needed to have read that first.... No you don't. I was hooked from the first page and I will read plenty more hooks from thus author in the future.
If romance us what you need this is the perfect book for you. You will laugh throughout and also be sat thinking what's about yo happen so with that, it's completely thrilling. There will be a few tears too.... Tissues at the ready
A fantastic story, great characters. The plot is brilliant as it begins with Faye's life as a single mother after one failed marriage but is happy with her boyfriend Dan. He wants to get married but the twist is he's from Australia and she won't want to move over there because of her daughter and granddaughter. And she's not completed her studies... Decisions galore
With that Dan leaves and Faye tells him to stay away and get on with his life without her.. Then Emma decides to move away with her daughter... What will Faye do??? In time Faye realises she's missing.... Dan but there's something he's failed to tell her by the time they've been apart.., a whole year. Will they continue where they left off, is it too late? This is an amazing read and a total page turner.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for this

I was so excited when I saw this pop up on Netgalley, even though I hadn't really read the first one I love Sue Watson books so was eager to get started. I definitely wasn't disappointed with this one! It was funny, heart-warming and I loved it. The cover is simple but the bright blue background and the character running in a wedding dress definitely draws you in.And I love the style of font which is used for the title.

I loved the character of Faye, she was witty and the way she rambles on I found hilarious. She is just a warm and bubbly character - who if she were a real person - I would instantly click with. At the beginning, Faye appears to have it all and is so happy that she has found the man of her dreams, however it's not too long before some cracks begin to show. Another person I instantly warmed and related to was work friend Mandy - I found her really funny but also a bit silly - which just added to her humorous vibe.

I think this novel was cleverly written and I was sucked into the story straight away. Faye and Dan's relationship isn't all what it seems from the off, it isn't what you call a smooth ride but I think this makes the story that much more interesting. I love Sue Watson books and this one is no different, she has a lovely style of writing that funny but will leave you feeling lighthearted.

Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

I've heard of this author loads and have her books in my pile to read but not read any of her books till this one now I want to read them all as it's simply brilliant from the first paged I was hooked. Full of romance and so heartwarming and makes you laugh out loud while reading but also has you on edge as you want to know what happens. Also has you in tears and wiryh far more than the five stars and just simply brilliant. So well written with great characters and story plot and didn't want it to end.
Faye is happily living with her daughter after a marriage break up and she has a boyfriend Dan who they are both happy with the way life is going travelling about and having fun but then Dan asks Faye to marry her and she knows this means she will have to move back to his home country of Australia and she can't leave her daughter Emma and her granddaughter as she knows they need her plus she is at uni and she wants to finish that. Dan goes back home and they go their separate ways she tells him after he phones to get on with his life and forget her but can he do this and can she move on as well. When Emma tells her she is getting married and moving away with Faye's granddaughter can Faye cope. She decides she can't live with out Dan and she's finished uni now so a year later contacts Dan to say she's going over to see him. Is he hiding something from her when she arrives and how will she react and after a year apart is he move on or could he just not forget her. Can Faye be happy or does she think it's just to much for her. This is a brilliant read and hooked from the first page. Well worth reading

I really like Sue Watson's books, but this one just felt really forced. We see the same characters that we've come to know and love (even Mandy), and continue to follow their trials and joys. When Dan leaves for Australia, everything comes to a head and starts a new path. It is the story beyond this point that really drags and pulls all over the place until the very end. It does have a sweet ending, but it takes a while to get there.

This is “ marketed as a “hilarious” romantic comedy. I suppose there were some slapstick situations, but I found that they mostly just made the heroine, Faye, seem ridiculous, and a bit gross. There are descriptions of her having an orange complexion from a bad tanning experiment; or having a frozen face from too much botox; or smelling bad because she’s sweating from a hot flash. In almost scene, she’s just a bit obnoxious or ridiculous in an unappealing way. I just didn’t find her appealing at all. She’s seven or eight years older than the hero, Dan, a sexy Aussie.

It’s not clear what he sees in her, and we don’t get to figure that out because they start the novel already in a relationship. He has to return to Australia and asks her to marry him and go with. Faye decides that she has to stay and help her daughter with child care for her granddaughter. Then, a year later, she decides that she really wants to go out there and be with him. Complications and more of her silly behavior continues.

I just couldn’t get into this novel because I found the heroine so irritating and unappealing. Being ridiculous is not the same thing as being humorous. There is a sweet subplot about Faye discovering that she is a nurturing person, but that wasn’t enough to rescue the novel for me.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

So many moons ago back in 2012 I doscovered this author named Sue Watson. I read a couple of her books and then in 2014 I discovered Love, Lies and Lemon Cake a book that has continued to stay on my all time favourites shelf ever since. It's also one of the few books I have read more than once. Over the years I have been nagging and whingeing for a while about a sequel, and lo and behold look at this beauty! I have to admit I was scared and excited in equal measures. What if she made a hash of it and the book was rubbish? Anyhow, I started it with trepidation and a little fear. Aproximately 7 hours later I can confirm my fear was unfounded. Not only was it unfounded but this sequel just proves WHY the readers needed one.

The original will always hold a special place for me but this follow up was absolutely marvellous. Faye Dobson appears to have it all with the man of her dreams, however all is not as it seems and before too long the cracks start to appear. What I absolutely loved is Faye herself, she is so normal and funny and ridiculous all wrapped up in one. She is no different to the first book, and when you start to read about her again all the brilliant quirks come pouring back. She is a woman who when she makes mistakes feels the need to explain, and then add more explanation, resulting in a very long-winded and sometimes hillarious conversations.

Thankfully we also see the return of the legendary Mandy her work colleague, the woman is a legend. In addition there are Faye's daughter Emma and her hillarious and adorable grandaughter Rosie. The wonderful thing about this sequel is what happens and how, I love the fact it isn't instant flowers and romance and doesn't necessarily work out how you think it will for Dan and Faye. I think how long it took me to read this book may well be an indication of just how much I loved it and I am truly thrilled to get to find out what happened. Not only that but I got to laugh along at Faye, Mandy, Rosie and we even get brief appearances by Sue (Faye's friend who moved to Devon).

As for Dan, well he is just the sort of Man that every woman is almost convinced does not exist. However in the world of Faye he certainly does exist and it isn't such plain sailing this time around. The way the story pans out and seeing the paths that all the characters takes is absolutely brilliant. This was a truly wonderful and funny book that warmed my heart, made me laugh and made me cry. Who needs retail therpay when there's a sequel to Love, Lies and Lemon Cake. Sue Watson is a a genius and in my opinion a hugely UNDER rated author. This along with the first book are what every woman needs when they are feeling fed up, or just need a bit of a giggle.

Sue Watson....I salute you!!!
