Princess Fuzzypants here: Let me start off saying I like Angie Fox but I am not sure if I am all that fussed about her demon slayer books. This is my first foray into this particular world and it did not catch me like her ghosts series. It felt like she was trying to channel her inner Buffy but without the fun. I found myself skimming through pages to get to the “good stuff” which is always a bad sign for me.
It was not that I disliked it- far from it. But with the volume of books I read, when something falls short of some of the others, it is unfortunate. I must admit my favourite part of the book was Lizzie’s interaction with her dog. He is a great character and very Jack Russell. She certainly has a steamy relationship with her husband and her connection to the big bad was also strong. It just was not enough for me to give it a high rating. If you are a fan of the series, I have no doubt you will enjoy this book. If, like me, you are coming to it cold, it may not meet your expectations.
I give it three and a half purrs and one paw up.
This was my first experience of demon slayer Lizzie Brown and found this was a fun exciting rollercoaster ride. Lizzie, Dimitri and the gang of Red Skull biker witches are coming back to town for her husbands birthday party and her Mum accidentally getting possessed by a demonic entity.
You will love how it unfolds as Lizzie battles to keep all her family safe.
This is part of a series which I would recommend you checking out to see where it all started.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you're looking for a fun read....this is it! The story moves quickly with the characters coming to life on the page. This is the first book by this author I have read but I'm definitely looking to read the rest of the series.
I'm always excited to discover that another book in this series has come out because each book is so fun to read. WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR DEMON SLAYER IS EXPECTING is follows its predecessors in the hilarity and heart that I've come to expect from this series. The plot is filled with action, tension, and clever plot twists. While there are a variety of lovable, crazy characters and fun plot shenanigans, I liked how at its core, the plot had a touching message about family, love, and loyalty. I would have liked to have been surprised by Lizzie's pregnancy since I kept wondering when she was going to find out but knowing about it didn't really hurt the story.
I love that even eight books in to this series Lizzie continues to make mistakes in her demon slaying duties and she is willing to accept that she was wrong and adjusts her thinking accordingly to fix the problem. She's always learning and ready to learn. Granted she has a ton of back up to help her out. The biker grannies, her parents, her adorable, food obsessed dog, and her amazing husband, Dimitri. Dimitri and Lizzie's picture should be next to the definition of what a perfectly equal and loving relationship built on respect and duty is. Dimitri continues to be amazing and really proves himself to be in the running for best book husband ever in this story.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR DEMON SLAYER IS EXPECTING is a quick read and a wonderful cozy paranormal story. This series never fails to put a smile on my face from the first page to the last.
I received this book through Netgalley for a honest review. I love Lizzie and her "family". I was happy and worried when I seen she was going back to her hometown. Now that she is there I think it would be nice to see her visit every once in a while.
Lizzie finds herself wondering if she has screwed up when she goes home and finds her mom has been possessed by a demon (maybe). As the book unfolds we get to have our favorite New Orleans spirit come back for some advice and help only he can provide. Or so Lizzy thinks.
We also cover love and betrayal. Lizzie has a lot going on and can she get her head straight to save her mom and herself. There is a great ending with some surprise people in it.
Angie is a great story teller. I love to seat down with many of her books. You always seem to be on a paranormal ride. You are not going to want to put this book down. It has magic, comedy, hot guy, mystery, and biker Granny witches. What more could you want in a book.
ts probably more sensible to read these books in order. Having said that I didn't. So although I wasn't familiar with all the characters. It sure didn't stop me from enjoying this book. We have a demon slayer, biker witches, a talking dog, and dragon. Not to mention a griffin. Lizzie is on her way back home with her motley crew, to see her parents and celebrate her husbands birthday. When she receives a phone call from her mother. She is at Lizzie's apartment and is suddenly taken unwell. As Lizzie and crew rushes to her mothers rescue. What follows is a journey that will take you to a secret magical garden among other places. I fully intend to read the rest of this series. Highly recommended. I requested this ARC from net galley in exchange for an honest review
Funny, witty and we'll written! I loved this book, it is the latest in a series of which I am now going to find and read!!
Another fun ride with demon slayer Lizzie, and her sexy husband Dimitri and her biker chick grandma and friends. Of course cannot forget her dog and his pet dragon. Going to visit her mom, they find out she has been invaded by what they think is a demon. Spell after spell doesn't work, until they come to realize it is an evil spirit instead. Creepy, and at times funny, this story has a lot to offer. Great series, and this one is ranked right up there. Highly recommend this book and series and author.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book through NetGalley, in exchange for a review which I am happy to provide. Even though I am a fan of Angie Fox I was not at all familiar with this series, but since I love her work I decided to jump right into the middle of the series, and it paid off. I loved the characters and the storyline moved along nicely and I never felt lost, next thing to do was get the first 3 books of the series all lined up to find out how it all started. Very entertaining and a delight to read, with some action a bit of steamy lovemaking and lots of biker witches.
There is never a dull moment when Lizzy is around!. Definitely, a must read if demons and witches are your thing.
Whether or not you've read the rest of the series, I don't think you will be disappointed if you love paranormal books with a lot of humor. Can't wait to see what comes next!
This, while not my usual fare, was truly a breath of fresh air! I need to go back to read the earlier titles now, as I did feel a bit lost not knowing the back story, but not lost enough to stop reading. Looking forward to more of Angie Fox's work!
This is a fun book. I enjoyed it every much, from the zany characters to the fast-paced action. #WhatToExpectWhenYourDemonSlayerIsExpecting #NetGalley
This is a great book; this is the eighth book in the Demon Slayer Series written by Angie Fox. Lizzie is pregnant with Dimitri Kallinikos’ baby, and the shapeshifting griffin is hell bent on keeping her safe at the risk of life, limb, and Lizzie’s sanity. Lizzie must fight for her child and her family, while battling dark spirits, demons, and morning sickness. And when a rival witch offers her unorthodox help, it opens up a whole new world of trouble. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
Lizzie’s husband Dimitri was a shape shifting griffin and Lizzie was a demon hunter and they were going home to her hometown where her parents- Hillary and Cliff were having a surprise birthday party for DImitri. Dimitri was all a woman could want and more. He also treated Lizzie right and made her laugh and her dog Pirate as much as Lizzie did what more could someone ask for? They had just busted an evil voodoo cult in New Orleans. It was what Dimitri and Lizzie did They fought evil in the world sometimes into the next. Lizzie’s life had certainly changed since she had let out of town after discovering she was a demon slayer. For the her most part non magical adopted parents took her career change in stride. Also Dimitri had helped save then all at their wedding day. The biker witched which included Lizzie’s grandmother- The Red Skulls- were on both sides on Lizzie and Dimitri and had been with them in New Orleans as Hillary said she could bring some friends.A white dragon-Flappy- flew overhead Lizzie had found Scrappy as an egg about two years ago and he had grown a lot. But Flappy couldn’t be heard or seen by non- magical people. Every since Lizzie had come into her demon slayer powers she could speak and Pirate could talk to her. Lizzie and everyone had stopped at a local gas station and LIzzie tried to call her mom. She tried a second time and her mom picked up but she was at Lizzie’s condo and there was a strange mist Lizzie told her to leave but Hillary passed out before she got the chance. When everyone got to Lizzie’s place her mother was on the floor alive but unresponsive. He witches spells just seemed to be eaten up. Hillary was being possessed by something. Lizzie let the witches do their work. Her grandmother said whatever was possessing Hillary is dark and very powerful. Also they only had three days at most before it took Hillary over completely. They couldn’t afford to make any mistakes. Then her grandma called to Lizzie and said Hillary was awake. Lizzie had encountered a spirit in New Orleans but Lizzie didn’t call to him because she didn’t want to owe him anymore than she already did as he had helped her to defeat a crazed voodoo priest in New Orleans. But then he was in her head. And he was a powerful spirit, Lizzie's grandma said they needed a herb that was powerful and very rare, and dangerous called Moly. She also told Lizzie there was no tougher herb to get. She warned Lizzie that she had to be very careful, brave, and fireproof. Moly could eat right through your hand if its juices got on your skin. Also Moly was an incredibly powerful supernaturally attractive substance and legend said it grew out f the blood of a giant. It is usually protected by vicious supernatural predators or crazy witches. Then Freda brought up Phillipa the crazy who hated the Red Skulls. Lizzie< Freda, dimitri and Pirate went to talk to Phillipa. Pirate ran into Phillipa’s garden chasing a rabbit and Dimitir and Lizzie went in after him. They got Pirate and then Phillipa told Lizzie to follow her alone and Lizzie did as she may have the Moly Lizzie needed for her mother and the big spell the witches were going to cast. One of the rules of a demon slayer was to sacrifice yourself to save others. Phillipa said she needed blood. Blood was a valuable spell ingredient. It was life itself and now Phillipa had some of Lizzie’s but she got the Moly. Lizzie finally called the spirit and he said the creature inside of Hillary wasn’t a demon but was attracted to them and fed on the demons magic - the Moly hadn’t worked. And Hillary was doing worse. The spirit said to think of the spirit as a demonic scavenger- a long distant parasite They were extremely rare and existed between dimensions. Scavengers were on a small astral plain called Scour They were going to find Scour and let Lizzie trace the predator Lizzie’s biological father was a fallen angel named Xavier and he was now at the house. The spirits had tricked LIzzie as she was pregnant with twins and he wanted her babies and had a cage set up in Lizzie that stopped all her powers.
It had been a while since I had read a demon slayer book by this author but I was so happy to get this book to read and the author didn’t let us readers down with this book. This was a great quick easy action packed read and I loved it. I read this all in one setting I just didn’t want to put it down. It held my attention from the first page until the last. There was so much to this book: biker witch club, a griffin, a demon slayer, adopted parents, possession or so it seemed, a fallen angel, a biological father, lies, secrets, spells, a talking dog, a dragon, magic, wondrous magic flowers, dangerous flowers and herbs, other realms, and so much more. I found myself chuckling at times while reading this. I loved Lizzie and dimitri together. I also loved the Red Skull Witches and Phillipa The Crazy, Cliff and Hilary, pirate and everyone else in this book. Such a fun read. I loved how Dimitri saved Lizzie when no one else could. I could find nothing to criticize in this book and that was GREAT!!! I loved the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend.
I really love this series! I am glad to see a new book in the series! I love the characters in this series Lizzie, the biker witches, Pirate, and of course super sexy Dimtri! I am really sad to see this series come to an end but this book didn’t disappoint, action packed till the end! Thank you Angie Fox for the wild ride over the years! I will revisit often!
Lots of loony fun, biker granny witches and a spirit with ill intent! There is nothing like being thrust into Lizzie Brown's family. Purely. Delightful. Spirited. Reading.

I received a copy of What to Expect When Your Demon Slayer is Expecting by Angie Fox from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was intrigued by the summary initially, but a little apprehensive when I found out that it was the continuation of a series that I had never read (thus no background or understanding of the world it exists in). Happily, it was easy enough to fall into the story and pick up on the characters and their relationships to one another.
I thought this novel was a fun read overall. Generally fast paced, likeable characters, and a fun plot. It was an enjoyable way to pass a rainy spring day.
I would definitely be interested in reading earlier novels by Angie Fox and recommend this book without reservation.
Lizzie, along with the rest of the Red Skull Biker Witches are heading to Lizzie's parents' house for a birthday party for Lizzie's husband Dimitri. On the way there, Lizzie gets a call from her mom...... she is at Lizzie's apartment and something odd is going on. They head there first and discover that a demonic entity has taken over her mom's body. The race is on to save her before it is too late.
This book was a fun quick read. There is lots of action, quirky characters and is equal parts funny and exciting.
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
Lizzie was going back home to visit her mother.
To saver mother that was being possessed by a "scavenger," Lizzie makes a deal w/ spirit.
However, the spirit double crosses Lizzie and She loses her slayers's power.
More importantly, the spirit is after Lizzie's babies.
Of course Lizzie, Griffin, Pirate, and the red skulls witches are not going to let this evil spirit get away with it.
They will fight to the end.
Now it is a race against time to rescue not just Lizzie, but the babies as well.
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in the series!
Love Lizzy and her crazy band of characters so much, was glad to see this one released and wasn't disappointed. One of my favorites for the series. Well done as always.
