I loved seeing the world of ballet in mamga format. The story telling was beautiful and made me nostalgic for my days as a dancer. Would absolutely love to own and would recommend to manga lovers.

As someone who trained as a classical ballet dancer, this booked hit me in all the feels! The author’s research on the subject matter shines through, making it realistic and nostalgic - at no point did I experience the eye rolls and annoyance of so many non-ballet writers. The artwork is expressive and elegant, giving levity and heart to the story. I could practically hear the practice music and smell the studio. A real joy to read!

As a former ballet dancer in my youth, I loved this book! It was beautifully done with gorgeous imagery as well.

I adored LA MAGNIFIQUE GRANDE SCENE! It follows a ballet student named Kanade as she navigates the difficult path of being a ballet dancer. I enjoyed how the manga didn't solely focus on the passionate, controlled, and graceful side of ballet. Rather, it shows how hard dancing is - that it takes dedication, practice, and a positive spirit to persevere in ballet. I heartedly recommend this light and lovely graphic novel!

A beautiful must read for anyone interested in ballet, the drawings are expressive and lovely. I would highly recommend this for someone looking for a good story of a young girl learning how to dance, practice and deal with injury.

Entertaining story with a good art style. If you are familiar with the clasic sports manga premise you have a basic understanding of how the plot is going and is unlikely you will be surprised by this story, nevertheless I was thoroughly entertained and I finished the hole volume in one sitting. It may not have convinced me to sign up for ballet clases but it did give me a craving to atend a dance recital.. If you already love dance you will love the story but I will not be reading the rest of the volumes on my own.

A fun if not slow start to a dancing series. I have a soft spot in my heart for dancing manga and this helped fill the void.

As someone who grew up dancing, I absolutely loved this. It was beautiful and I'd love to read more. The way the bodies, costumes, and details are drawn show familiarity with the ballet world.

Although I like graphic novels and comics, I rarely read mangas. But, I’m glad I chose this one. La Magnifique Grande Scene is a nice manga about ballet student Kanade. It shows that ballet is not just a lovely dance but very hard work for dancers. I enjoyed reading this story with many details and words from the world of ballet. 3.5 rounded to 4.

A really sweet slice-of-life manga about a young girl, Kanade, who wants to learn to dance ballet, and so joins a ballet school. She idolises an older girl, Risa, who is also a student at the ballet school. We follow the ups and downs of Kanade (and several other girls), and her bright personality and passion steal the show.

I don't know a lot about ballet, but Cuvie seems to have done her homework - there's an impressive amount of attention spent on the technical side of ballet, both in dialogue and in art.

It has the hallmark of a good first volume - the moment you have a good grasp on the characters, you hit the end, and you don't want it to stop.

I wanted to read and review this book but it never would work with any of the readers netgalley recommends. I got an error message of: E_Auth_bad_Device_key_or_PKC-S12 on Bluefire and none of the others worked at all.

This ballet manga follows a girl who falls in love with ballet and works hard to achieve her dream of becoming a great dancer. After watching an older girl named Risa dance at a recital, she throws herself headfirst into classes and struggles to reach her goals.

Unfortunately, I DNFed at 58%. I normally can't watch ballet in real life because it makes me very uncomfortable to watch how their feet move (too much sympathy pain!), so I was hoping this manga would capture the graceful motion, beautiful costumes, and other elegant and lovely elements of ballet without focusing on that part of it. However, I found the art style too simplistic for such a beautiful, moving dance style, and the pacing felt off to me. I had to stop reading after the book began heavily focusing on Kanade's desire to wear pointe shoes, which has a LOT to do with feet...

I would still recommend this to those who think they might be interested, as I may have been predisposed to not liking this sort of story.

La Magnifique Grande Scene was a delight to read. It centres around a girl named Kanade, who is inspired to start ballet after she goes to watch her neighbour, Risa, perform on stage.

It's sort of a slice-of-life manga set at a ballet school/company, looking at the daily lives of young ballerinas. It follows Kanade from late childhood to her early tweens, showing the highs and lows of being a dancer, and the hard work that goes into it.

I really liked Kanade's character, because she reminded me of myself as a young ballerina. I was never the best, most naturally talented student, but I loved it and I worked hard, just like Kanade. I also appreciated the comment on how expensive it can be, and how fierce the competitions for scholarships can be. I think the comparison between Kanade and her friend Shoko (who is in the same class but a year older) is also important. Shoko may have more natural talent than Kanade, but Kanade's passion is what drives her, and in the end, it's passion that will keep a dancer going. Both have to put in the hard work, but Shoko struggles with nerves and perfectionism, whereas Kanade thinks more outside the box.

I also loved the beautiful illustrations. The manga-ka has clearly put in a lot of research, learning all the French terms and the progression of a young dancers lessons, as well as the visual aspects of ballet, including how the steps should look, as well as the costumes.

I look forward to reading future volumes to see how Kanade progresses into a more mature dancer. I think anyone who loves ballet or dance would enjoy this, and perhaps those who are curious about it. The illustrations alone are appealing enough for most manga lovers, regardless of the storyline.

This was so much fun. I enjoyed reading and following Kanade’s ballet journey. This would be such a great anime or cartoon for children if there are other volumes. It is a nice story to follow and I’d also like to know what happens to Risa and how her story ends as well. This was written well and is definitely for children in my opinion but it is touching and I liked it as well.

This is definitely a great Manga for those who love Ballet. The artwork was pretty standard for a Manga.

The story follows a girl named Kanade and her thoughts and emotions as she joins a Ballet group. Im not a Ballerina but this seems like a pretty realistic experience to have with trying to learn Ballet and be the best you can be.

The sorry ends abruptly but that's because this is just the first volume. Definitely recommend.

This is a fun ballet manga with good atmosphere.

Aspiring dancer Kanade has a good developing story in the first volume of this manga, hugely ambitious but too young for pointe shoes and searching for a way to make the best of things as she works her way up in the world of ballet.

I really enjoyed the atmospheric aspects of this. Manga is at its best when the setting is immersive, and this is a good encapsulation of ballet school, and both the art and the writing shine in that respect.

The story has potential, though the end is a bit abrupt and doesn’t tell us much about where this story is ultimately going. I hope we’ll see more of Risa in the next volume, and that Kanade will continue to advance as a dancer.

I will give this a three stars, as 1) it sounds great 2) the cover is stunning 3) I have heard great things about it.
I'm really upset that it would not open, but I hope this is explanatory enough.

Since I was a child I have always admired ballet dancers. In this manga I related to many of the things that the main character was feeling, as I felt many of those emotions too as a child. This was a fun, refreshing read.

I love how enthusiastic Kanade is and how she chooses to approach the world even when things don't seem to be going her way. The supporting characters' emotions don't get explored as much in this first volume but I'm sure as the story develops that will change.

The artwork is beautiful and the story is fun, I highly recommend this manga.

I loved Kanade and her optimism. Her enthusiasm is infectious and it was refreshing to see her learn from her mistakes instead of throwing a tantrum (which I thought would be her thing considering the tantrum she threw to get into ballet lessons). The lessons reminded me of my lessons as a child and her desire to be better was a breath of fresh air. I look forward to the next one.
