Three secrets?! That’s all?! It felt like much more with practically every character having at least one secret! This slow burn mystery surrounds the suicide of main character Fran’s husband, Robert, a wealthy executive. There are many questions around his death. And—get this—secrets! So many. But amid all the secrets, I wouldn’t call it a page Turner, so much, but the secrets and need to find out what happened with Robert’s death propelled me forward.

Read in May 2020- just clearing goodreads and netgalley missed reviews!
Secrets and lies unfold in this fabulous read. Francesca is piecing her life back together after her husband’s death but all is not what it seems.
Clare’s books are always fantastic and gripping and this was no exception. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

The tale of a dysfunctional family and secrets they hide amongst themselves! The brothers who couldn’t be more different and their wives who are poles apart!!! A controlling mother and downtrodden husband!!!
Well written and an enjoyable read from a brilliant author!!

This book could have been very good, but it dragged quite a bit, which took away from the story. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.

Having recently read and thoroughly enjoyed Clare Boyd’s most recent book ‘Her Closest Friend’ I was delighted when I realised I had this book of hers to read. It is just as just a super domestic thriller.
Fran is enjoying dinner one evening with her husband, Robert, and his brother, John. When Robert does not return from his trip to buy extra supplies nothing could have prepared Fran for the shock of finding out that he had killed himself that evening by jumping off of a bridge.
Two years later Fran is still struggling coming to terms with his death and being a single parent to their daughter, Alice. What are the three secrets that are so fundamental in this family’s life? Who is guarding them and will the secrets come out? Will the remaining members of the family survive any disclosures?
An excellent thriller highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5

Finally got to reading this one. 2018 seemed the year of the secrets for mysteries and Three Secrets didn't disappoint. It was full of suspense and kept me guessing. The writing made it easy to keep turning the pages and the plot made it hard to put the book down.

There are three secrets, one of them led to Robert's suicide. This twisty thriller will lead you on a journey to discover which one and why everyone wants to know.

So many secrets, so many lies...

A man leaves his house after dinner with his wife and brother and commits suicide. Who is to blame?

This psychological thriller alternates between past and present, each shift getting closer to the truth. In addition to suicide, it also touches on scietal topics such as infidelity, spousal abuse and opiod abuse. There was a slow building of tension throughout.

The characters were somewhat stereotypical which the rich being presented as untouchable and preoccupied with reputation. Most of the characters were heinous and unlikable. It detracted from the story for me because some of them were too over the top.

Overall a good book that kept my interest. If you enjoyed the author's other book, you will probably enjoy this one.

The plot was good but certain topics dragged on and on. It was from suspense to slightly boring. The removal of a few chapters would go a long way.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for my review copy.

Unfortunately i didn’t enjoy this book as much as i thought I would. The blurb sounded great but for me it was a very slow read with nothing exciting happening until about 80% into it . Many times I felt like giving up but persevered with it . A very mediocre read for me sadly.

Did not leave review on Amazon .

Wow! I loved, loved, loved this book! Two years ago Francesca's husband Robert kissed her goodbye on the way to the store for wine only to then jump to his death from a motorway overpass leaving Francesca and their young daughter devastated.
Fran takes the decision to relocate to a new home that her mother in law has found for them as money is an issue and to be closer to Robert's family - but this may prove to be a very bad decision.
The story is told through the viewpoints of both Fran and Robert's brother John who incidentally has been in love with Fran for many years which made for interesting reading. After the initial few chapters the pace increased hugely and the general feeling was one of suspense and drama.
I really enjoyed reading about this dreadful and dysfunctional family - some of them are truly awful. A good read for readers of family thrillers.
Thanks to Netgally and publishers for advance review copy.

Two brothers, Robert and John and Francesca, Robert’s wife. One night Robert pops out to the shops but doesn’t come home, instead leaps to his death. Everyone thinks they are responsible. There are secrets in this family and no one tells anyone anything they ought to. Definitely dysfunctional at best, with no redeeming features and to be frank they all deserved each other! The cover and description were enticing and there were a few moments of intrigue but it was a very slow burner which only livened up in the latter part of the story. It was easy to read and there was just enough happening to make the reader continue to the end. Wouldn’t describe it as a thriller though, more of a domestic drama.

Three Secrets? I'm pretty sure there were a lot more secrets than that it this novel. This is Claire Boyd's second foray into the domestic thriller and I think I'm sensing a pattern already. Basically crazy characters, mental situations that frankly are completely unbelievable but good god just completely and utterly entertaining and compulsive.  It's tough to explain my reasons for calling it unbelievable without giving tons of spoilers but suffice to say that there are many convenient occurrences in the plot and also characters making rather odd decisions that conveniently move the plot along. I sound like I'm been dismissive I know but here's the thing. I loved it. I didn't want to, especially when Francesca made another stupid decision, John was a blind fool or Camilla and Dilys donned their fur coats made of passing puppies. But those moments are what makes it so enjoyable. Contrary I know, call it a guilty pleasure if you wish!

This book will definitely while away a few pleasant hours so grab a glass/mug and a big box of choccies and settle in.

I really enjoyed this modern thriller. Robert committed suicide two years ago. Three people from his life feel guilty about what happened. They are his wife, mother and brother. The book takes us on the journey to find out whether anyone was responsible. I found this story very interesting and read it slower than usual so I did not miss any details.
