Enjoyed this fast paced, tense psychological thriller. Thanks to publisher and Netgalley for the advanced reading copy.
This book was gripping and exciting and I couldn't wait to get to the end to see what happened. Worth a read if you like a thriller that keeps you hooked.
What a remarkable thriller/family drama. Francesca and Robert have an adorable daughter, Alice. One night he leaves and throws himself off a bridge. His brother John and his parents are very “helpful “ getting her a place in their village to live. When Francesca finds evidence of drugs concerning her husband she suspects his mother was his supplier. Secrets abound and it seems every time one is exposed someone is hurt or dead. Suspenseful and a hot page turner, I have to admit I never saw the last 4 chapters coming. Wow. I received a copy of this arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This was a good read. Several subplots which I liked, it got a bit confusing in the middle and lost a tiny bit of its fluidity in my opinion.
I hope that I don't meet families like this! 😳
Thanks to Netgalley, Clare Boyd and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book.
One a night Robert kisses his wife Fran before heading out to the shop to pick up some more wine leaving her with his brother only to leap to his death from an overpass into the traffic below.
Two years later Fran is still struggling with the shock of Robert's death and decides to leave the London flat they shared to be closer to his family. His family is eager to offer her help and she is looking forward for her daughter to have her cousins around for support. However, as Fran spends time with Robert's family she soon begins to suspect that there was more to Robert's death than meets the eye.
Boyd did a great job creating this twisted domestic thriller! It is full of family disfunction, secrets, lies, more secrets and lies, and twists and turns. We see the story from alternating points of view from both Fran and John, Robert's brother, as well as alternating timelines, giving glimpses into the past. Through these glimpses into the past we are slowly able to unravel the truth behind Robert suicide.
Three Secrets is a fast-paced psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the very end. If you love dark, twisty thrillers, then check this one out!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this copy for and honest review.
Clare Boyd is a brilliant author and fast becoming one of my favourites. You can always depend on her to deliver a brilliant book. Highly recommend it.
It took me a while to get to this book, but what a satisfying read it was! The story moves along at a clipped pace and there were so many twists and turns I did not expect, especially towards the end. Hard to put down. I will definitely be reading more by this author!
I loved this book so much.....I literally couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting! Twists, turns it has them all.
I will definitely look to see what Clare Boyd has written, and look out for her next book!
Loved this book, even when I was not reading it I kept thinking about it and couldn’t wait to pick it up again and I finished it in a day. Would definitely recommend to others and can’t wait to read other titles from this author.
Highly recommend!!
Without giving away any spoilers, all i can say is.. this family is the definition of DYSFUNCTIONAL! I liked the contrast between now and then and seeing all the relationships develop into what they had become. The middle was bit dry but all the twists and turns came together in the end.
Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If you think your family is messed up... check out this one. Everyone has a secret, no one seems to be completely honest with each other, and they've all been affected by a tragic, unexplained death. They are the definition of a dysfunctional family, and you get the feeling no one knows anyone else... not completely. How could they, when they keep so many secrets?
This is a fun, dramatic, twisted, and unpredictable read. I never knew what was going to happen next, and managed to devour it over two sittings. The main characters are realistically flawed and sometimes frustrating, but delicious to read about. Some of the other characters are shockingly cruel, making the poor decisions the others make almost understandable.
Perfect for psychological thriller and suspense readers who crave lots of drama and a bit of soap opera energy.
I received a copy of this book from Net Galley and Bookouture, thank you! My review is honest and unbiased.
Francesa has recently lost her husband and is trying to navigate her new life, raising her young daughter. But her husband’s death was not as cut-and-dry as it originally seemed. As she attempted to move forward while remaining close to her in-laws, everyone has secrets that aren’t as buried as they’d hoped. While the premise of this book appears intriguing from the outset, I found it took a few tries to really get into the story. It was difficult for me to feel invested in the characters. However, I appreciated the unexpected revelations for certain secrets and was very satisfied when an unseemly character finally got their much-deserved comeuppance. I give this book three stars for an interesting cast and a storyline full of life-changing secrets. Thank you to Bookouture, Clare Boyd, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book , it was well written and fast paced and I really liked Francesca . Her husband pops to the local shop and doesn't return , he jumps to his death and it seems that all of the Tennant family , Francesca included are keeping some pretty big secrets . After Roberts death Francesca moves with her young daughter to be near to his family , this is a huge mistake as her mother in law is very interfering and simply unpleasant , life soon becomes very complicated for Francesca and the rest of the family . Only a slight criticism from me was that I found the ending quite melodramatic and over the top . That being said it was still a really good read .
I would like to thank NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
The book is a compelling read. The format is nice is switches between the POV of John and Francesca and its told in several time periods. The story follows the suicide of Robert Tennant who leaves behind his wife Francesca and young daughter. Fran moved to live near Roberts family. As the story unfolds and you discover secrets and lies held by many of the characters and how these have impacted on lives of others. I would definitely recommend this book to all psychological thriller lovers.
An enjoyable story that started off quite slowly but built up to a gripping ending. Well worth a read
This is a definite must read book. I enjoyed every page. The story and characters were fabulous. I highly recommend it.
Excellent story line which was gripping from start to finish. Great characters. I would highly recommend this book.

enjoyable book and a nice read. I found it quite slow to start and I wasn’t in a hurry to pick it up and keep reading.
I wanted to like this book as I couldn't get on with the author's first book, but this one for me just didn't grab me either. Sorry, not for me.
