I Was unable to read as it wouldn’t download to my kindle. Must be more of a physical galley kind of book. Thank you anyway
A really cute and easy to follow guide, perfect for children or adults to make quick and easy doll outfits!
This is a great collection of patterns for 18 inch dolls like the American Girl doll. Outfits are stylish and what girls would like to wear themselves and make for their dolls. Pictures and instructions are clear and precise. I do with a cd of the patterns were included with the book for easy printing since not everyone can have patterns photocopied easily.
Cute, Cute, Cute! This book is great! Even with only the basic equipment and supplies, you can make a nice outfit for your doll. Although easy to use, the book is quite comprehensive: from start to finish. Pattern specifics are well demonstrated.
Recommend!!!
Many thanks to F & W Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to both review and utilize this book.
This is a beautifully crafted book that I intend to use lots to make clothes for my children's dolls. The instructions are super clear and there are lots of tips for using different fabrics including speciality ones like knit and sequins.
One of my biggest bugbears about crafting books is that you have to pay the same price again as the book to photocopy/enlarge the patterns. I would prefer them included as a pattern sheet but most books these days don't do that. This book has downloadable templates that are easy to follow. Some might complain that this book has definitely 'girly' patterns, however, I would say that these can be adapted for 'boy' dolls as well. The beauty of this book is that the only limit is your imagination. When doll clothes cost as much as those for real children, this will allow you to use fabric scraps and recycle your children's own clothes to create a wardrobe just for them.
Many thanks Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this in return for an honest review!
Every 18” doll needs clothes and accessories. My Doll, My Style encourages sewers to make them. The book begins with the basics of sewing, tools, favpbrics, pattern use, construction, and projects. This is the perfect book for an adult and the doll’s owner to work together to create for the doll. A young person will need an experienced sewer to help. And, having to print the pattern templates instead of them being included in the book is inconvenient.
My Doll, My Style has a lot of sewing patterns for 18 inch dolls. If this was out when I was about 10 years old, I probably would have tried my hand at sewing and making some of these designs for my doll! I was obsessed with picking out outfits for my American Girl 18" doll - that is until I decided she was possessed and moved at night when I was asleep and locked her in a locker never to be seen again.
The book has some really cute summer/beach attire and accessories and a bunch of other designs too. A lot of great ideas for you or your daughter to sew!
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
