I felt this book hit the ground running right from the first couple of pages and it is very hard to put down after that. The storyline is masterfully written and the characters are so real, you feel like you’re right there in the story alongside of them as you read their story. The plots twists and turns, so don’t blink or you will miss something between these amazing characters and their story. They have you on th edge to your seat with your heart racing every step of the way. I would definitely recommend this book to all book lovers out there.

I so loved this series!!! The McLaughlins have become one of my favorite book families. Family is everything to them! Aleck had his heart broken years ago and will not have it broken again until Delonna. Now, Delonna's life is in danger from her ex boyfriend and Aleck steps up to keep her safe, but will he let his barriers down for Delonna's heart.

This is has been a wonderful sexy series that I'm sad to say goodbye to. I highly recommend this book, along with the rest of books in the series.

The McLaughlins are back and this time we are focused on Aleck's story. Aleck is a pub owner that is scared to fall in love again. He still wants a no strings relationship with his waitress Delonna, who comes with her own set of problems.

This story is hot. Aleck is a demanding Scot who is protective of the ones he cares about. I really liked Delonna because she is a strong woman that is not afraid to say what she feels. The one element to the story that bothered me was that there were some scenes that felt rushed when it needed to be expanded. 3.5 stars

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.

I’m really torn on Last Call. Here on my own blog it gets a 3.5 star rating, which I’ll round up for the other sites I post reviews at. I simply could not connect with Aleck. And since he’s half the couple, that makes things awkward. From the first book Aleck and Delonna have been flirting, doing an “I like you” dance in the background of the rest of the family’s stories. So I wasn’t quite expecting how Aleck (or some of his siblings) acted in Last Call. I adored Delonna, but she deserved more of Aleck than she got, even in the ending of the story.

So, I’ll make this brief and simple. While I liked Last Call I wasn’t in love with Aleck and that affected how I viewed his and Delonna’s romance. It’s a good story, simply one that I didn’t really connect with. I believe this story is going to be personal in how each reader views Aleck’s actions and reasonings. Overall, I’ve enjoyed The McLaughlins series and I’m glad to have gotten to know this amazing, at times crazy family.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The story line moved at a good pace and the characters were interesting if a bit stubborn. I wanted to really like it but a few things didn't work for me. The reason that Aleck has closed himself off from falling in love again seemed a bit too OTT. It was something that happened 20 years ago and if he's loyal enough to that memory for that long than it would have made sense to spend a bit more page time supporting the fact that he has emotionally moved on from that and was capable of giving himself wholeheartedly to Delonna. In the end, his declaration to Delonna instead came off as rushed and more a knee jerk reaction to the possibility of losing her so suddenly than anything else. It didn't ring as strongly since his lingering feelings regarding his past were so much stronger and constantly mentioned throughout the story.

It was hard to root for their budding romance when everyone was warning, cautioning or doubting a real relationship between the MCs was even possible. Her friend/his sister pushing them to sleep together one minute and telling the h not to get emotionally involved the next was a mood killer. Her advice that it should just be "for fun" was a big flaring warning sign. The fact that they all know why Aleck is anti-relationship but still push Delonna at him seemed kind of messed up. I get you want to see him move on but shouldn't you think of Delonna's feelings too?

After the huge, giant, enormous foot in mouth moments at the end, I expected some epic groveling from Aleck. I was bummed that it all gets pushed aside with a distraction. Again it would have felt more real if he'd come to his senses without an outside catalyst pushing him to declare his feelings. Delonna was really hurt by his actions and completely heartbroken and made to feel really vulnerable when it came to her feelings for him, I think she deserved to be first and the #1 priority, if to no one else, than at least to herself. I don't normally like separations in a romance, but in this case, Delonna should have made Aleck work to get back into her good graces a lot more than that rushed ending.

Last Call by Shelli Stevens, Book four in The McLaughlines series. I've enjoyed each of the books in this series. Shelli Stevens know how to write a great storyline. I've enjoyed the close family ties, the settings and the storyline. A sure win in my opinion. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

I've been a huge fan of this entire series and while I'm sad to see it end, this book was a great way to wrap it up. Aleck is the eldest of the McLaughlin siblings and he's definitely the most uptight. A tragic loss when he was younger has kept his heart locked up tight but Delonna may be the one woman who can break through his defenses. There has always been a spark between them but until now Delonna has be unavailable. Now her boyfriend is history as is the money he stole from her. Will Aleck step up to help her out? Will he let down his walls and give them a chance? When it becomes clear Delonna is in danger Aleck is determined to do everything he can to keep her safe. What she may need to protect the most is her heart.

A great read and one I would recommend.

For the life of me I could not get into this book. I have picked it up and put it down 20 times this week. I think I need to read the rest of the series first. I am lost as to what is going on and not loving it. Maybe I should try again another time. At this time it is a 2 star from me.

Last Call by Shelli Stevens is Aleck and Delonna’s story. These two have been dancing around each other all through the McLaughlin Family series. Aleck, the older brother and now owner of the family pub, is responsible and family oriented but he is also a stick in the mud at times. I thought from the previous glimpses of him in his siblings’ books that he would eventually break free. Delonna is his positively opposite, younger and less restricted in her emotions and actions. If the danger had not come calling Aleck may have never made a move, but of course, it does.

I enjoyed the change in scenery in this book along with Aleck finally, and I mean finally, deciding to do something about the hot attraction between Delonna and him. Of course, this only happens because Delonna never gives up on him. I always wondered if her jerk of a boyfriend was only to make Aleck jealous. Who knows. Fun read with a vibrant woman and a thick-headed male.

I have thoroughly enjoyed The McLaughlins, and was anxiously waiting for Aleck to get his story. Unfortunately, Aleck just didnlt deliver. After so much expectation around his and Delonna’s relationship, there just wasn’t enough fire and passion for my liking.

As I believe this may be the last in the series, as all four siblings have now had their story told, I’m only sorry it didn’t end the way it started; there just wasn’t the same degree of chemistry and heat between Aleck and his lady.

We finally get the last of The McLaughlins, Aleck. He and Delonna have been dancing around each other since book one. It’s nice to finally see their HEA. There’s some drama with her ex, but overall this whole series was pretty good. I enjoyed reading all 4 books with this family.

This is another in Stevens’ series about a family of Scottish immigrants living on Whidbey Island near Seattle. This novel features the oldest brother, Aleck McLaughlin who owns a bar and is attracted to his bartender, Delonna. But she’s just had one boyfriend disappear with all the cash she’d been saving up and now his loan shark is threatening Delonna for the money. The only answer is to move in with Aleck to protect her and, well, you can guess where it goes from there between two hot people attracted to one another. Aleck has to get over his problems with having a relationship after a bad experience when he was much younger. In a charming interlude, the two of them take a nice detour to Edinburgh to visit Aleck’s parents.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

If I could, I would rate this book as a 3.5 out of 5 stars. however, I feel like only giving it 3 stars would be too low, so I'm rounding up to 4. I love the McLaughlin siblings, and have enjoyed reading the love story of Kenzie, and now Aleck. (I have not read the first 2 books of the series yet!) I enjoyed this book, just as I did with book #3 in the series. I love the Scottish dialogue and slang. Aleck and Delonna made a cute couple, but I wish he would have gotten his act together sooner. I felt like the ending was a little rushed, and would have enjoyed reading more of what comes next before it jumped so far into the future. Overall I enjoyed this story but I did like the Kenzie/Brett romance better from book #3.

I enjoyed this read. I thought Delonna and Aleck had great chemistry and I liked that they had some prior history be gore taking things to the next level. There were times that I wanted to reach through the book and smack Aleck. Even though I think he is ten years older than Delonna, he definitely had some growing up to do. I enjoyed this read and would recommend it.

This book, set to release on May 14, 2018, is a fantastic installment in Shelli Stevens' series. I absolutely adored the hero and heroine. The plot was fast-paced, full of drama and intrigue, and really kept me going. The characters are fully developed and I quickly fell in love with them! The love scenes were just the right amount of steamy and sexy, and I will definitely continue to read this author and her series. I just can't resist a hot Scot!

Aleck was her knight in shining armor. He was always ready to step in when she needed help. There were times he could be nice and other times when he would drive her crazy. The lingering affection they feel for one another finally comes to light. I absolutely loved Alex and his need to take care of the ones that mean the most to him. Delonna was everything he wanted and she would provide everything he needed.

We finally get Alex's book, the last of the McLoughlin and the oldest of the siblings. Alex and Delonna (his bartender) have flirted for each other for years but never acted on the attraction, they did not want to make it a sticky situation. Alex felt that Delonna was too young for him and also his employee, but when there is a threat to her life due to her loser boyfriend, Alex steps in and shows her his Alpha side and it is hot! Good bye guys we sure enjoyed your family!!

Weeeellll , this book was ok? I did enjoy it but it just didn't bring me in? I don't know? It was enjoyable, but just not my favorite? I absolutely loved when they went to Scotland!! My hubby Scottish so I've always wanted to go! This is Aleck and Delonna book, it was well written and steamy and the story did flow nicely i do wish I read the rest in this series I think that might have helped me with this book? It can be a stand alone but there was references to things I didn't understand. I do suggest reading this book yourself, if you've read the series then definitely! Thank you tule publishing group and NetGalley for sharing this book with me!

I have come to love this series, and was looking forward to Aleck’s story. Though I didn’t love it as much as the previous stories, it still was a touching ,at times heartbreaking but also heartwarming story with some suspense thrown in.
The series centers around 4 siblings whose parents owned a pub in an island off Seattle , and have not returned to Scotland, the home of the patriarch. Aleck, now is the one in charge and the owner of this pub.
Aleck, the oldest very protective sibling, has been watching his brothers and sister fall in love . He’s happy for them, but is not interested in marriage and children. He and Delonna/Lana , his very pretty and young waitress , have been flirting for years. When the need comes to help her, he takes it upon himself to be the one to offer that support. All in all , an entertaining story with complex characters.
If you have not read the previous books, I would highly recommend it.
I voluntarily read this ARC copy thanks to Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
