I loved this book and the locations used; it was refreshing that they were all real places and were lovingly described. Although it was fairly obvious that Colette and Etienne would eventually get together, the slow drawing out of the secrets from their pasts kept the suspense and drama moving along. well worth a read.

Great book for taking on holiday to Brittany, the places really do come to life. Great summer reading

I have read other books by this author and would recommend her to other readers. This books provides an interesting escape to Brittany and has made me want to visit the places mentioned in the book. for many years Colette has avoided returning there but she returns when she receives news of her mother's failing health and the book centres on the past breakdown of her relationship with her mother and people who have been part of her mothers life.
Although I enjoyed the book I found that the way it keeps switching from one person to another to be quite irritating at times. I have only given it four stars because it was a book that I could easily put down and return to later which is not often the case with a good read!
I would however recommend it to other readers, who may not be put off by this format.

Her Mother's Secret started off really well and it was easy to relate to the characters. The story is told from each of the characters' perspectives which was a good way to build the story. However the storyline of Etienne was incongruous and irrelevant as it made no difference to the outcome of the main storyline. Overall, her mother's Secret is a good read.
