No Strings – Cara Lockwood
I’ve read quite a few of the Mills & Boon Dare series now and found this, as with previous ones, easy to get into and easy to read.
I really liked the premise of this particular story, and it was very relevant with the key hook being centred around an app. Although this app doesn’t hide behind a claim to be a dating app, but is purely for hook ups. Freelance writer and somewhat naïve, Emma, is tempted into trying the app by her best friend, but has no intention of following it through. For her, it’s merely to be a subject to write about, having already made up her mind it’s not for her. However, she has a surprise in store when the mysterious Mr X comes along. Will Emma be tempted after all? And if she is, can she really let go after the stipulated time of 48 hours passes when his details will disappear from her profile forever?
This was a good story that kept your interest, although I did find some descriptions and wording a little repetitive at time. It wasn’t the ‘hottest’ Dare I’ve read, but I’d be happy to read more by this author.

4/5
Modern, believable, and hot as heck, this book is a real page turner. This series is really getting into its stride - the stories have all the best elements of romance with a very sexy edge - the best of both worlds. And this book is no exception.
Thanks to M&B and to Netgalley for allowing me to read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
No Strings is written by Cara Lockwood and is part of the Mills & Boon Dare collection. Emma Allaire is a writer who is persuaded to use the NOST (No Strings Attached) dating app to improve/ spice up her sex life. The creator of the app, Xavier Pena doesn't believe in love but enjoys the philosophy of no strings attached sex and then move on. They meet on the app, then in real life, have great chemistry and great sex. Will Xavier see that love can and does exist. The novel also has a more serious angle- namely internet safety and the potential danger of dating apps. Emma is stalked by another app user and Xavier has to intervene.
This is a very modern romance, hook up on a dating app, have lots of hot sex everywhere and ... fall in love! The book also reveals not only the pros but also the cons of these apps. A side storyline had Emma being stalked by a deranged app user. Lots of chemistry, interesting, up to date storyline which I enjoyed reading.
I received this book via Netgalley and Mills and Boon in exchange for an honest review. I am a #MillsAndBoonInsider #netgalley
Another smoking hot book in the Dare series.
Wow this didn't disappoint either, it was up to the same high standard of sexy, emotional, hot stuff.
An interesting story line! I like stories were dating sites feature. I was quite annoyed with Xavier’s App though as it wasn’t very safe! So that made me root for him less, although I liked how smoking hot he was and enjoyed the chemistry between Emma and Mr X. I much preferred Emma’s character and felt she was quite grounded and real. I liked the parts of the story also were Emma and her friend were exploring the app, that was fun! Preferred those light hearted sides to the story than some of the heavier stuff like the odd ball she meets from the app. It’s worth a read.
A very modern love story about the pros and cons of online dating and no string relationships.
Writer Emma is talked into using dating app NOST (short for No Strings) in an attempt get herself back into the dating game. App creator Xavier doesn’t believe in true love and happy ever afters, but, one night with Emma begins to make him wonder if there is life beyond the 48 hour relationship his app promotes.
This being the Dare series, Emma and Xavier naturally fall into bed (and bathrooms and alleyways…), but their chemistry is believable and the two are likeable characters who have an assortment of trust issues based on things that have happened in the past. Indeed, by the last section of the book, you really do root for them to overcome their reluctance and take a chance on their future happiness together.
There is a serious sub plot involving a potentially dangerous user of the app who contacts Emma and essentially seems to be stalking her at points, and it is this incident that prompts Xavier to re-think what he is promoting.
I enjoyed the book, although it could have perhaps done with some secondary characters, or a bit more background into why Xavier is so untrusting of falling in love - what is written is well done and explains a lot, but, his vulnerable side could have been explored more in my opinion.
Escapist and easy going, this is an enjoyable summer read.
Emma is single and pushed in to dating by her firends. Using the app NOST she she arranges to meet a guy for no strings fun - what the app is all about.
After meeting him in a bar she realises straight away that he lied on his profile and looks nothing like his profile picture, and his attitude puts her off most of all. She is rescued by the mysterious Mr X, who she ends up having a night of fun with.
As the blurb of this book rightly says, "Mystery lover, man of her dreams or liar—will he save her heart or break it forever?"
Quite an apt read in these times of dating apps
