In April I posted my review for The Cafe at Seashell Cove, the first installment in the Seashell Cove series. In my review I posted the following statement:
I kept wishing we could have seen more of the secondary characters in this story. Because I actually found their storylines more interesting. I wanted to know more about Rob and his decision to leave his successful band. I wanted to know more about Meg wedding and why it felt she wasn’t there with whole of her heart. I just wanted more but because Cassie was so into herself we only got glimpsed of the other characters.
You can understand how truly excited I was when I found out I was going to get exactly what I wished for!
The Bakery at Seashell Cove was so much better than its predecessor. Not only because I didn't need to read about Cassie anymore. But mainly because the overall story arc was much better. It's not an overall cheerful story and at times I really felt bad for Meg and all the horrible things that kept on happening to her. But just because it wasn't all fun and games, I loved the book a little bit more. Because let's be honest, life isn't always fun.
Although the overall story is of course heartwarming en lighthearted I think that the character growth Meg has to go true is a very important part of the story. With every tough decision Meg has to make you see her grow as a person. Slowly learning who she really is, without all the expectations of the world holding her back.
I absolutely loved Meg as a character, but that may come as no surprise, considering Meg was already my favorite character in the first book in the series. But now I really got to spend time with her and I absolutely love her! And yes, Cassie from the first books makes guest appearances and I still dislike her hugely. She is still an awful friend.
One negative point for The Bakery at Seashell Cove it is really bad for your diet. I kept on reading about all these delicious cakes Meg was whisking up in her kitchen. The water practically ran down my mouth and I kept on googling recipes for all the cakes that are mentioned. I was overjoyed to see a recipe add in the back of the book! (Although I kind of hoped for the pistachio one.)
I really loved The Bakery at Seashell Cove! It a refreshing feel good book that doesn't shy away from harder topics as infidelity. It a wonderful book about self-exploration, but all very light hearted and with a good sense of humor. I can hardly wait for a third installment in the series, maybe around Christmas?

As soon as I saw this novel pop up on Netgalley I knew I was going to love it. Karen Clarke's novels have a talent for drawing you in and making you feel as though you're right there next to the main character! I absolutely adore this cover. I love the bright colours - and all of Karen's novels make you want to read them just by glancing at the cover! It's stunning, as was the story.

The storyline follows main character Meg, who is having a bit of trouble with her soon-to-be husband Sam and also the Bakery where she used to work to bake cakes. She feels in a bit of a rut, with Sam taking absolutely zero interest in her and her life ambitions, she starts thinking that maybe they shouldn't get married after all.

As well as this, her beloved Bakery is up for sale and she's worried that whoever will buy it won't allow her to continue working there. Until, a mystery buyer comes and decides he wants to pay for the bakery to get back to it's former glory - and for Meg to run it! Meg can't believe her luck, but when she logs onto Facebook and sees that fiance Sam is cosying up to other cyclist George, she doesn't know what to think anymore.

This novel is absolutely fantastic, I wished throughout this book that I could have friends as nice as Tilly and Cassie. And it was so nice to see characters that was in Karen Clarke's other novel: The Cafe at Seashell Cove make an appearance. It was like greeting old friends when I realised it was about the same group of people and I love every minute. I'm really hoping that there'll be a book about Tilly next, then we've got to know the whole group of friends!

Overall, I absolutely loved this novel and there was no way that I could give it any less than 5 stars. I can't wait to read more from this author. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

Meg Larson works in the Bakery in Seashell Cove. She’s marrying her childhood love in a few months, she has a job she loves and lives by the sea – life couldn’t be better….or could it? Her fiancé, Sam shows more interest in his bike than he does in Meg and when he goes off on a cycling tour and posts too many selfies on his Facebook of him and his fellow female cyclist, Meg begins to wonder if marrying him is what she really wants. Meg also has news that the bakery is up for sale and when handsome estate agent, Nathan turns up an unexpected friendship between them blossoms.

I love Karen Clarke’s books. The cover, the title and the blurb always makes me want to dive into the book straight away. This one was no exception and once started, I could not put it down. Meg is a wonderful characters. How she ended up with the bike obsessed Sam I just don’t know!! I lost count of the amount of times I just wanted her to kick him into touch!

Karen definitely has the knack of writing stories which are both heart-warming and funny. The location for this book sounds absolutely perfect and I could feel the warm sun on my face and hear the waves lapping as I was reading it. Of course, it’s not just a simple story of Meg and Sam, but we also get to meet so many other characters, some a lot nicer than others! We also get involved with Meg and her family. I won’t spoil it by saying what happens, but all in all it was a fantastic story!

As usual, there is plenty of fun, friendship and romance. There was also the added attraction of cakes! If I was any good at baking (and not on a permanent diet!) I would have tried out the recipe which was included! This was definitely one of those books that had me hook, line and sinker right from page one and I sped through it taking delight in every single word. It would be the perfect book to laze by the pool with on a summer holiday, preferably also with a large slice of Meg’s cake!

A wonderful read by a wonderful author! Highly recommended!

I enjoyed parts of this book, and would recommend it as a good beach read, however I kept getting frustrated with the heroine,

I’ve finished the book. I liked the book. There was drive to finish it to see what happened. However I can’t shake the feeling that Meg is just a bit too much of a wet blanket. This is not the book for you if you like your heroine to make things happen for herself and take a stand. This is the book for you if you like a damsel in distress where things happen for her and it all ends happy ever after. It was heart warming and well written but Meg is just too drippy. I’ll keep a note of the author and a couple more books might make the to be read list but they won’t be at the top of it.

Another enjoyable Karen Clarke book. Although at one point the agency changes from estate to a travel agent and then back agaon.
Easy read and perfect for a holiday read. Bit obvious in places

This kind of books have covers that already put a smile on my face, even before I have read one single word. They make me want to sit down, put a 'do not disturb' signal on the door and read.
Love, romance, betrayal, misunderstandings and of course the happy ending are some of ingredients that are needed to create a story in this category. It ticked all the boxes for me.
I felt like I could smell all the delicious creations Meg was making and the recipe at the end of the book was a surplus.
A story well constructed and thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining.

Solid chick lit…doesn’t take itself too seriously! You’ll laugh, cry, and say “Oh! No!” Definitely a fun weekend read :c)

Meg and Sam are a young couple engaged and soon to be married. Meg works part time in a cafe and the rest of the time in the old bakery as it awaits sale after the death of its owner.



Nathan whose overseeing the sale catches her eye and she starts to daydream about him much to the amusement of Cassie and Tilly her friends.



When she gets the chance to take part in Britain's hidden gems tv show she talks of never knowing her father and her mum's agoraphobia amongst things and soon the world or at least programme viewers learn their business.



Sam is too interested in Cycling and so she looks on Facebook and discovers George, a woman secretly in their cycling group. Whilst his family always seem to disapprove of Meg and judge her harshly.



Meg's mum suffers with agoraphobia and is also constantly pushing Meg to get pregnant ASAP as she is unawares of her daughter's growing unease and feelings about her situation.



So when Freya a rich local woman and her husband want to buy the bakery to become an ice cream parlour, Meh is unhappy but then an anonymous buyer appears...



facing up to her relationship and work life woes Meh needs to turn her life around fast and make herself truly happy forever.



This book was a lovely chick lit, women's fiction read and was full of drama. The writing was engaging and there were some hilarious one liners at times in this book. Meg's story will probably be relatable to women out there suffering the same issues. I would've liked some different scenarios with whom the anonymous buyer turns out to be but you shall have to judge that for yourself!

I have read and loved all of Karen's previous books so I was excited read this one. I was not disappointed - I couldn't put it down.

An easy read, a story of family, friendship, romance and delicious sounding cakes! Heartwarming, funny, lovely seaside location and strong characters I loved. A perfect cosy read for an afternoon on the sofa or in the garden.

Highly recommended, I loved it! Can't wait for the next one!

I found this book to be a pretty fast read. I loved the fact the Meg was able to find her self worth. She didn’t give up on her dream even when her fiancé didn’t approve. This book had its funny parts as well and showed that true friends stick together and true love provails. Such a light great contemporary read.

New author for me and I did laugh out loud a lot and fun to read .
Meg was a bit of a door mat and Sam took advantage of her until she meats Nathan.
I loved the book and will definitely look out for more .

I found The Bakery at Seashell Cove to be a refreshing and delightful book. A woman, Meg Larson, finally comes of her own, learning about what really matters and striving to achieve it. In her path is a fiancé who is more into bike races than into her, an overbearing future mother-in-law, and agoraphobic mother, and two of the best friends a girl can have. Throw in an adorable real estate broker and mix it all together for a perfect recipe for an afternoon read.

The Cafe at Seashell Cove by Karen Clarke

In The Bakery at Seashell cove we follow Meg who we think has it all, that is how it seemed when reading The Cafe at Seashell Cove. However, the bakery is up for sale and with no money to buy it she has to hope that whoever does buy the bakery will take her on to, that is if they keep it as a bakery. Meg is also marrying her childhood sweetheart but something is not right there either. When some shocking news enters Meg's world will she find her happy ever after ending in Seashell Cove with her friends?

This is a book that must be read if you like a very good feel good summer read full of love and hope with the bonus of tasty treats.  

Karen Clarke has very quickly became one of my favourite authors.

My usual go to book is crime drama so it was really nice to read this lighthearted English romance without any fear of a dead body turning up in the bakery!. It was lighthearted, funny and easy to read and it was fairly obvious early on how the Meg, Sam, Nathan love triangle was going to end, but nevertheless I really enjoyed this book. Set in a quaint seaside town with colourful characters and an endearing storyline not to mention some delicious cakes! This is a lovely summer read. I also appreciated the author adding the recipe for the chocolate and raspberry cake at the end of the book!!

I couldn't wait to read this book as loved all Karen's other books and she certainly didn't disappoint at all as such an amazingly read just didn't want to put it down. It's worth far more than the five stars I have given it as it's full of romance and an easy read while being funny and heartwarming. It's full of families and cakes and of course it is set in beautful countryside makes you want to be there. Fantastic read highly recommend it.
Meg has worked in a bakery for years and when the owner passes away and it's been left to a family member who doesn't want it so puts it up for sale. Meg can't afford it but she's with her boyfriend who is her school sweetheart but he's more interested in bikes and he's about to go off on a tour on his bike but can they plan their wedding. Nathan is the estate agent for the bakery and meg soon forms a friendship with him. She is asked to take part in a tv show that will show the bakery at it's full potential so hopefully someone will buy it but in doing this she goes home one day and finds her mother with a mystery man and this turns her life upside down for ever as she wasn't expecting this news she tries to ring Sam but she can't get hold of him and she's sees photos of him on his tour. Is Sam the right man for meg or is she really falling for some one else suddenly a mystery man buys the bakery in order for her to run it still as a bakery so meg is so happy. Can she find who the mystery man is or not and can she decide which man she's wants to be with or not.
Simply fantastic read.

Karen Clarke is quickly becoming one of my must read authors.

This is the second book in the sea shell cove series and it's a good one! I have to say that the main character Meg did annoy me a bit at times. I just wanted to shake her and say wake up woman!! She got there in the end and made the right decisions.

Loved the story, this is what I would call the perfect cosy read, I'm really hoping we get another book in this series .

Second book in this series set in Seashell Cove, this time centred around Meg. She works in the cafe, but really wants to run the bakery which is currently for sale.
She is engaged to Sam, her high school sweetheart, but is becoming more attracted to Nathan the estate agent selling the bakery. The more you learn about Sam, you find that although Meg supports him in what he wants in life, he does not offer her the same in return. but will she realise this before she loses her chance with Nathan?

Great to return to Seashell Cove. This book was a fun read and would be great to tote along to the beach.

I look forward to reading more about this seaside town.

I really felt for Meg. She loves her job in the bakery so it certainly couldn't have been easy having an uncertain future, especially when she is literally months away from tying the knot.

Now Nathan the love interest sent my pulse racing never mind poor Meg's. I fell head over heels in love with him myself. The blossoming friendship between the two will certainly have your heart melting.

Meg has so many decisions to make that I didn't really envy the position she is in getting pressure from her boyfriends family with the wedding arrangements. You can see her heart and soul goes into her baking, of which can I just say had my mouth watering. I probably wouldn't advise reading this book on an empty stomach that's for sure!

Even though Meg has some serious decisions to make, this is still a heart warming and very much light hearted read. I loved how the author threw some little surprises in there for the readers making this one novel extremely hard to put down.

The Bakery At Seashell Cove is a deliciously, wondrous story that you will devour within no time at all. It is escapism at it's finest and I really enjoyed every minute of it.
