I found this book a struggle as it was very disjointed and unrealistic. I chose it as I adored 'I Am Pilgrim' but this cannot be compared with that at all. The way it ended I can only presume that the author plans to write a sequel but I certainly would not buy it or even attempt to read it.
I read all through in case it inspired me further on but from start to finish I did not enjoy this at all. .
A young girl is driven to unlock her past. She wants to trace the mother she barely remembers and to discover why it is she appears to be able to see future events, in a kind of deja vu. Her main problem is that government agencies have been seeking her and her strange knowledge/powers for all of her life.
Will she find answers to her questions before it’s too late?
Absolutely gripping thriller. You won’t want to put it down.
I’ve really struggled with Trust No One. There certainly a lot of action but it seems disjointed and confusing. Not quite as I expected. I am sorry but I have given up on it. Just not a good match for me at this time. Thank you for the opportunity, though.
I was intrigued by premise of Sara's dilemma - but in the end i found it not very convincing - the writing strains to be exciting - I kept losing my place as to when we were .. this one missed me .by - I just kind of lost patience, and stopped!
y Very disappointed with this book but it just wasn’t for me.
The writing was all over the place, and the timelines were difficult to follow it was really difficult to follow the chapters as they were very jumpy - left you feeling short changed because just as you were getting some depth either the narrative changed or the chapter ended.
The main characters needed more detailed description and it just lacked the drama that i would have wanted to keep me intrigued and wanting to read more.
Sarah had so much potential but she seemed too fanciful and in the end it was too far fetched.
It was hard for to connect to the characters in this book, IMHO the author stretched his imagination a little bit to far.
The story itself is fast paced and well written but (spoiler alert) it raises more questions then it answers and I was left with an empty feeling at the end.
If you love espionage and high tech thrillers you might try this one and you might even love it, there's enough people out there who classify this book as a guilty pleasure, which says enough.
Thankyou for a copy of Trust No One. I was really intrigued by the premise and thought it would be right up my street but I really struggled with it and found it quite difficult to read. I am so disappointed as I was really looking forward to it but I just don't think it was for me in the end.
This book is very fast paced, and a quick read. The plot can be a little far-fetched at times, but not any more than a Hollywood action film, which this reminded me of a little.
Sara is an interesting character, as she has no memory of who she is, and only a few possessions as clues. I enjoyed the intrigue of the story. There were a lot of minor characters introduced, especially in the second half of the book, who didn’t really need to be there however.
I enjoyed this book and hope to see more in the series as there are a number of unanswered questions.
This sounded so good when I read the trailer so I was really surprised when I could not get into it, very disappointed.
I just had a really hard time connecting with the characters and with the story. Often I just spaced out when military guys took over the story and I never felt that the characters fleshed out. The idea of the book is interesting, but it just failed to interest me. The worst part was that I often felt lost in the plot since the characters were so unmemorable that I hardly knew who was who and what they were doing ... it was a relief to finish the book...
Trust No One promised a lot of suspense and I liked the the blurb, but, sadly, I couldn't really get into the story. It felt too far fetched and there wasn't a character I could connect to.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin UK!
This debut is an excellent, fast-paced and quite imaginative thriller set in the world of spies. The characters are perhaps slightly opaque and it would be fair to say the plot is pretty complicated. However, it’s actually well-constructed and compelling, and would clearly make a good movie. Trust No One offers something a little different, I read it quickly and found it very enjoyable, and I would certainly look out for Anthony Mosawi’s next novel.
I read this on invite from Michael Joseph Comms suggesting I'd like this book because of others I've read. I'm not sure what those are as I usually prefer psychological thrillers or historical fiction. So I'm sorry I didn't get on at all with this book.
It was certainly fast paced but full of mind control, brainwashing, drones, cloaking devices, security service GCHQ and MI5 stuff, military operations, helicopters, high speed chases, bombs, shootings, violent attacks. Just not for me.
The plot centre on a 10 year old girl who seems to have the strength and cunning of a much older person. I found that very unbelievable and the ending very unsatisfying.
This wasn't my cup of tea unfortunately, but I think it was very well written with a plot that will intrigue others.
I'm not sure if I will read another by this author, but I will recommend this one to friends I think would appreciate it
I'm unsure how to categorise this novel. It's partly a thriller and partly a spy novel. It's undoubtedly well written and will appeal to many readers, particularly ones who are into high technology, but sadly I'm not one of them. I found Sara, who had been found in a sensory deprivation tank to be interesting, though perhaps her antics as a 10 year old are a little far fetched. Overall however I thought the book jumped about too much which detracted from the plot
It's probably only fair to start with the positives - and there were a number of interesting features. In no particular order I would acknowledge: a considerable creative effort in building an almost three dimensional plot that spanned decades and a range of contexts; some well-crafted passages that helped the narrative as,well as providing a sense of place and time; and an ability to describe action sequences in a most credible manner. The downside for me was the awkwardness of the writing technique that switched action backwards and forwards through time that didn't help the reader make sense of what was always going to be a complex plot. I suppose that the modern fashion of casting governments as the bad guys whose conspiracies to fool the mass of the population have to be defeated is one that will appeal to a significant readership, but - for me at least - it can be a lazy and tired cliche within many novels. Despite these less positive features I must recognise that this is a novel whose ending I had to reach and which contained many passages where the tension was skilfully crafted whilst the action seemed to be so real that the sense of danger was palpable. Overall, an impressive effort that didn't quite get into the very top rating but readable nonetheless.
The blurb for this book really drew me in, this book is edgy and thrilling to read. It is certainly filled with plenty of mystery and thrilling moments as Sara unravels the real nature of who she is. The book moves at a decent speed it does not drag, and i liked how it felt quite fantastical it did not feel fully grounded in reality to me. A good read but by the end of the book and the last page i finished the story having enjoyed the book but not being left as thrilled as i wanted to be from the blurb
I enjoyed this book very much. It was a very different story, but it held my interest to the end. It was powerful, stuff.
I was unfortunately expecting much more from this from the premise and was left disappointed. It did not grip me like I thought it would and I ultimately felt it to be a bit far-fetched.
Whilst the concept behind this book is clever and quite original it all seemed just a bit too far fetched to be the enjoyable read I was expecting. Perhaps Sara was too young for me to take some of the plot and action around her seriously
