Look at all the things to see and do on a train. Caillou take his first train ride and Daddy tells him not to be afraid of the big moving machine. It looks like the station is moving when the train leaves. There are lots of interesting parts to a train, especially the Dome car, where it feels like you are flying through the air under the clouds. Caillou has been wondering where the beds are in his cabin. When it's time to go to sleep, he finds out. Cute.

This was for a friend's child. He loves Caillou!
So, Caillou takes the train for the first time... Explores a bit of everything, the restaurant... with his dad... and asks questions.

Really well done for children!

Title: Caillou Takes the Train

Author: Anne Paradis and illustrated by Mario Allard

Publisher: Chouette Publishing

Released: April, 2018

My boys own a number of Caillou books in our vast collection. I’ve always enjoyed them because they teach my children to be caring and to encourage learning by taking risks, even when you think it might be scary.

In Caillou Takes the Train, we follow his bright adventure as he learns about what it’s like to be on a train for the first time. Many kids can find trains to be scary and intimidating because they are so much bigger than themselves. But Caillou walks us through his small but exciting adventure as he explores his first train!

Caillou has never been on a train before. He is a bit scared because of the size of the train and the loud noise, but daddy is able to calm him down. He and daddy decide to explore the train once their trip is underway. They walk down the swaying aisles holding onto the walls, eat in the dining and car and observe the view from the Dome Car. At night, the beds appear and he falls asleep with the rocking of the train. A great little story to read before going on a train or when learning about different types of transportation. A good story if you have a little one that loves trains. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

As the title tells ya, the little boy and his family are taking a train trip. Since they’ll be on for two days and this series is Canadian, it’s an easy guess what route this will be.
This book really does a great job of making a train trip fun. Looking out the window as it starts to move does indeed make it seem like it’s the station that’s moving, and walking on a moving train can feel like being on an amusement park ride. The views from the dome car make you think you’re on a plane, and beds magically appear.
But what about the other forty hours. . .?

Caillou is a show on PBS that is very popular with some preschoolers. This book was a story about visiting different places by going by train. This book would be perfect for reading to a child in anticipation of their first train trip. It was a quick and easy read. Great for a bedtime story. For the price, it will be a great gift for a child loving Caillou A solid four stars.
