It's been a long wait for this concluding part to MK Hume's Tintagel Trilogy, and as a fan of her previous works i've waited with excitement for a couple of years. Sadly though, this book falls short of the high standards she has previously set.
I LOVED her King Arthur trilogy- it still ranks as one of the best trilogies i've ever read. This latest story just seems like one tale too many for Hume's Arthurian legend. The characters feel one dimensional, the story and plot feels rushed, and by the end i realised that sadly i had given up with the tale.
That's not to say this is a bad book. Hume's passion and love for the Legend shows through, she truly loves writing about this period of history, and it shines through.
Fingers crossed that her next offering is back to the high standard i know she is more than capable of achieving.
A great retelling of the early parts of the Arthurian saga.
The style of writing and the storytelling are superb and the mix of historical and legendary characters is superb.
Even if I didn't read the previous instalments in this saga I was hooked since the beginning by the developments of the fast paced plot.
I found this book fascinating and will get the previous instalments in this great saga.
