Very gripping and twisted book.
I did guess early on in the story but didn’t spoil the book. Well worth a read.

Wowsers. What a read. I read this one in 24 hours. I could not put it down. It’s a very easy reading psychology thriller that’s centred around New Year’s Day when Rachael wakes up in her friends spare room. She knows she was at the party the night before, but wakes knowing something has happened to her.

Lisa had covered the sensitive topic of rape and turned it into the heart of the novel. Which is based around finding out who raped Rachael. There are a few possibilities. But who was it.

A great easy read for summer.

The Party is a fast-paced ride where you hold on tight and wonder where the next turn is coming. It was incredibly compelling and I found myself reading with my Kindle propped up whilst cooking and allowing myself a page or two between marking my classes books - I simply couldn't put it down as I had to know what had happened - a sure-fire sign that this author has hit the mark!

I didn't warm to the characters as people but I think that almost added to the tension and that sense of discomfort that a good psychological thriller gives you. The fact that they weren't warm and lovely meant that you could believe anything of them! You second guess every person in the book, just as Rachel does herself and I was completely engrossed right to the end.

The day after a New Years Eve party at her neighbour’s, Rachel Walker wakes - still in her neighbour’s home - aware that something has happened to her. Returning home she finds her husband, Gareth. He is angry that she stayed out all night. He believes she was with another man. A reasonable fear as we learn that Gareth and Rachel are trying to repair their marriage after she had an affair last year.
Rachel can’t remember anything about the party but the bruises on her body tell her that whatever happened, she wasn’t a willing participant.
Rachel and Gareth report the crime to the police, but with no evidence and with Rachel’s memory loss there is little to go on.
Rachel needs to find out what happened to her. Unbeknown to the police she starts looking into the events of the party and the people who attended. To her horror she discovers there are more people in her life who might have reason to hurt her than she ever imagined.
An excellent ‘who dunnit’ and a five star read.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the book in exchange for an honest review.
I have read the authors other books, which I have enjoyed and was looking forward to reading her latest book. This was a very clever, psycholigal drama which built up the suspense and even at the end kept you wondering. Her third book was as good if not better than her first two. I would look forward to reading her next book.
Highly recommended.

A very well written book. The author should be proud at producing such a touching story about such a sensitive subject. The only negative I have would be it felt a bit rushed at the end.

This is a lightweight, easy read. It is not particularly original, and the characters do not have much depth. It looks to be written to a formula. Some of the police procedures semed a little lax - did they not examine the room and bed sheets that she slept in? And how did the DNA get on her knickers when she did not put them back on afterwards - is this a mistake? However, it was readable and passed a few hours.

Rachel and Gareth Walker having been together almost twenty years had had a really tough year which had tested their marriage. New Years Eve their neighbours The Greene’s Liz and Neil were having a party. A New Year a new start.
When Rachel wakens the morning after the party she can’t recall much of the night before she didn’t know where she was but soon realised it was The Greene’s spare room. She had a horrible feeling something bad had happened she just didn’t know what.
After telling Gareth her fears he persuades her to contact the police who start an investigation but with little evidence and Rachel’s memory lapse it falls flat.
Rachel is determined to find out what happened and by whom. She starts her own investigations that’s when she realises that nothing is what it seems.
This is first book by Lisa Hall I’ve read I absolutely loved it. Will definitely be looking out for more from her.

Lisa Hall is extremely good at taking difficult subjects and writing sensitively about them but also making the story gripping.

Rachel wakes up on New Years' Day after a party, knowing something isn't right, she can't remember the night before but she does have a gut feeling that she's been attacked, coupled together with her physical soreness she knows something bad has happened to her. Her husband convinces her to go to the police.

With most of the party guests having their own secrets to hide people seem reluctant to co-operate with the police, leaving Rachel to try and uncover the truth herself. There are a number of suspects and Lisa Hall does well in making you believe it could be any of them. I was pleased that my gut instinct proved right when the truth was revealed.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion.

Top character-led drama... A brilliant exploration of the effects of one stupid mistake in a small community where everyone is hiding something... with a stunningly dark ending.

The Party by Lisa Hall is a psychological thriller about lies, adultery, secrets and revenge. Rachel wakes up the morning after a New Years Eve party in a strange room. She can't remember where she is or what has happened. She fells sick and disoriented and she knows that something bad has happened to her. Now she has to find out who has attacked her and why.
I would like to thank NetGalley and HQ for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rachel and her husband go to a neighbours party, but when she wakes the next morning she finds herself in a strange bed. Where's Gareth and why has he left her alone? As she tries to recall what happened she realises she has no memory of the party at all apart from going through the front door. Surely she didn't drink THAT much. Getting up she's horrified to find that she's not only sore but there are bruises on her body. Needing answers she tries to find out just what happened, but those she asks say they can't remember. Someone, somewhere must know.
As the story flips from before and after the party, this thriller kept me on my toes trying to guess who was responsible, changing my mind with each new discovery. There's also a great twist thrown in at the end which I didn't see coming.
Superbly written and one I highly recommend which gets five stars from me.
My grateful thanks to Harlequin UK for my copy via NetGalley

Someone did something to her, at the party but who? She doesn't know who but knows she didn't consent and the attacker is still watching.

Terrific but disturbing story of an all to real life story.

I enjoyed the Party, although I did have a good idea who the protagonist might have been.

This is the story of a girl in a rocky marriage, who goes to a neighbour’s party and is drugged and raped. She remembers nothing about the party from entering, to waking up in the spare room very battered and sore.

The story is told pre party, and post party. Very enjoyable until the end which I felt was a little rushed and implausible for several reasons. All in all a good read though.

The Party is the authors third book and another dark and gripping read.

Rachel is married to Gareth and they have a teenage son Robbie. We first meet Rachel when she wakes up in a bed in her next doors neighbours house. Obviously alarm bells start ringing as she doesn't remember anything other than arriving at the house and the fact that she only lives next door, why she would be waking up in their house?

Obviously the reader is just as intrigued as to what has happened also. I think due to the nature of the story some readers may find it uncomfortable or upsetting to read. The story focuses though on the who and why and it makes for a page turner of a read.

The author weaves a twisted tale pointing us in different directions making us second guess who it could be. I kept swapping my mind as to who it could be and have to say when we do get to find out, well I didn't see that coming!

The Party is a story that will have you hooked throughout. The tension and suspense builds throughout and will certainly keep you on your toes. Fans of the author certainly won't be disappointed.

I wonder how many times take Rachel people have woken up on New Year's Day in a strange bed and have no memory of the night before. But once awake Rachel notices deep bruises to her body and the missing clothes and well it doesn't take brain of Britain to work out that something's not right and so the story begins Lisa Halls thriller grabbed me from the start and didn't let go and even once I finished I wanted to know more not because the story had no end because oh boy it did and then some, but the characters where so real and believable. The good and the bad where believable the twist and turns the red herrings keep you guessing, and Rachel was someone you want to win her faults made her human and loveable, I was routing for her the whole way through. How much can one person take what is the switch you are going to have to read this great book to get the answer to this not just for Rachel but some of the others as well. I can't think of the best way to recommend this book so I will let you make up your own mind as you should read it because it is one of lives pleasure to find a book like this or a author as good in my view anyway. Thanks Lisa and to NetGalley

Told over different time spans but everything centres around the party and Rachael's inability to remember what happened to her, before she awoke in her neighbours spare bed feeling bruised and violated. A very dark and compelling read, as you would expect from Lisa Hall, I loved it

Another masterpiece written by this Maid of Kent. Lisa Hall has again written a novel that keeps you guessing from start to finish. The storyline is realistic as are the characters.
Who would think that going The Party would change so many lives?
It's a must read for lovers of gritty novels.

This was my second book by this author and wasn’t disappointed. The story focuses on Rachel who suffers a terrible ordeal and her way of getting to the truth. Couldn’t wait to get to the end. Would thoroughly recommend. Thank you for letting me review this book.

I really enjoyed this book! The content was obviously quite dark and it made me shudder to think that things like this do happen. I enjoyed the way the story was told with the "after Party" and "Before Party" chapters. At one point I didn't know who could have been the perpetrator but towards the last third of the book I had pretty much figured it out. This didn't stop my enjoyment tho and it would be pretty cool to have a sequel documenting what happened at the trial and after although the way this one ended I'm not sure if that's plausible now. A solid 4/5 a gripping, enjoyable read. Would recommend!
