This book did start out really good but It wasn’t one that kept me hooked so I regret to say I did not finish this title.
Taylor, who is a complex, intense and manipulative character, has recently moved from California to Croydon and as her husband works, she is lonely and friendless. She joins a walking group and fixes her sights on Anna, another similarly aged woman who is also expecting her first baby – perfect friend material. More characters come into play as she joins a book club set up by one of her neighbours.
Interspersed through the chapters is an unknown narrator, a media stalker who knows intimate details which give creepy and sinister overtones throughout the book. We don't know who is being stalked – it could be Anna, it could be Taylor – and I love that it keeps us on our toes wondering who is going to have their life devastated. This is a thought provoking read of what we give away about ourselves on social media. We trust our friends in what they see but what if one of your followers goes rogue?
I've read several books by Annabel Kantaria and I've enjoyed all of them. She's a brilliant plotter and knows how to tell a rich, fulfilling and flowing story. She's definitely an author I look out for.
Taylor is married to Jake and living in London. Having come from California, she is trying to acclimate herself to the cold weather. In an effort to make friends, she has joined a walking group. She is also pregnant and having spent too much time on social media, she needs to branch out and meet people.
She meets Simon at the walking group. He is an older, single man taking care of his ailing father. She also meets Anna whose husband is working in Qatar and Taylor hopes they will become good friends.
Taylor’s neighbor, Sarah stops in to introduce herself and invites her to join a book club. She is delighted to do so and invites Anna to join too.
Jake travels a lot leaving Taylor alone for days at a time. The loneliness of it is hard on her. He had cheated on her once which makes trusting him difficult.
Soon, Taylor and Anna have a begun a great friendship and spend lots of time together. As both of them are pregnant and their husbands are gone most of the time, it’s comforting for each of them to have a good friend. What could go wrong with that?
This book explores the friendships that women maintain and the honesty they share with one another. I think men rarely have friends as close as women do. But sometimes they can go all wrong.
This is such a good book! I wasn’t expecting such an exciting buildup to a breath-taking ending. This is what I call a thriller!!
This is an ok modern thriller. I did read it to the end however I felt that the plot didn't go anywhere. There are better books to read.
I really did enjoy this book. I did guess what it was about but that didn't ruin the enjoyment for me. One thing it did make me think about is the impact of living your life on social media can have. If you are someone who puts your life on there if you check in to every place you visit or show a photo of where you live and your family then if someone really wants to they can find where you are and if they wish to infiltrate your life and become the person you want them to be. A really good read.
This book had me hooked! It freaked me out a fair bit as I'm fairly new to social media and this made me remember why! The storyline was gripping, it was exciting and creepy and I loved it! I liked all the characters, even the not-so-nice ones and couldn't wait to race to the end to see what happened! I wasn't disappointed. I couldn't work out if it was going to be a predictable ending or a total surprise....I wasn't surprised at the run up to the end but the end itself was a shocker! Well worth a read guys 💜
Brilliant suspenseful thriller full of dodgy characters! Really highlights the issues with social media and the modern world, made me question a lot!
Well written. This book sucks you into the mystery and thrill. Fast paced and keeps your interest. The author has a great way of writing to capture your interest and keep you on the edge of your seat
I Know You is a fab psychological thriller that from the first page it drew me in and i knew I was going to love.
Taylor is the main character and has recently moved to the UK from the USA and is finding life hard as she knows no one and her husband is away a lot of the time with work so she joins a walking group and befriends Anna, Taylor tries hard to become her best friend which after the start becomes easy especially since they are both pregnant.
The story is based around social media and how really the things that you see cannot always be trusted. It is written from Taylor’s perspective but at the end of several chapters are the thoughts and feelings of whoever is stalking Taylor via social media, which made it a little eerie.
The ending was a shock I had my doubts but they never came close to the actual ending and made me love it all the more.
I would like to thank Netgalley and HQ for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! What can I say! Took me a while to get into this one but once I did I literally couldn't put it down. Fast paced and kept me gripped from one page turn to the next. Fantastic and a well earned 5 stars.
I really loved this book, and kept rushing to pick it back up when I finished work. Eventually I powered through it, unable to stop reading.
It has everything a good thriller should have; characters you don't trust, an ever present threat and a sense that something deeper and darker is going on behind the scenes. The story follows Taylor, an american now living in Croydon with her husband, and struggling to fit into London life. Pregnant and lonely she desperately seeks out a group of friends, but they're not all as they seem...
This is a well written story and I love that it highlights social media and the potential problems faced when oversharing details of your life. An important message thrown into an extreme light, but done extremely well.
This is a cracking psychological thriller, lots of suspect characters and it did keep me guessing as to the perpetrator. My only criticism is that the ending seemed a bit abrupt but other than that I look forward to the author's next book, I recommend this author.
I wonder how many readers out there remember the old song from Sesame Street? you know the one that goes,One of these things is not like the others, one of these things is not quite the same. Well almost all the relatable, vivid characters in this twist packed thriller have secrets, lie and are totally untrustworthy. But one of them is so many sandwiches short of a picnic, they need to be thrown into a padded cell and the key conveniently lost somewhere were no one will ever find it,ever, ever again. What the reader has to figure out is which one of our cast of characters is the victim and which one or is it more than one is our psychopath. We have Taylor who had recently moved to the UK from the USA,she is married to handsome Jake and is heavily pregnant with their first child. Then there's Taylor's new BFF Anna, they met after Taylor decided to join a walking group, hoping to do exactly what she did do,find a new best friend.Anna is married to Rob and is also pregnant.Taylor also becomes friendly with another walker called Simon. There is also Sarah and Caroline, two women that Taylor becomes friendly with after Sarah invites her to join their book club.
Most of the story is voiced by Taylor,a complex character who I struggled to like at times. I had my doubts and suspicions about all of the characters as this riveting story unfolded, the misdirections and suspicious behaviour of the characters certainly keep the reader guessing. The feelings of tension and anxiety increasing as the story moves towards the final shocking, nail biting confrontation. Throughout the book there are chapters that give the reader a insight into the twisted mind of the devious, cunning, manipulative antagonist. It was really scary and eye opening how much this person was able to learn about their intended victims life through that person's activity on social media. You don't stop and think how much you are giving away just by posting that innocent picture of the tree or plant in your driveway that also includes a shot of your car or front door. The selfie that you post as you enter a park, shop, pub, hotel or any other location, the selfie that informs any potential stalker exactly where you are. Anything that we post on line gives people who intend to harm us a open window into our lives.
This thriller is not fast paced but it is #creepy,#intense and #Thoughtprovoking. This is the first book that I have read by this author and it most definitely will not be my last.

Who can you trust ?
This book revolves around the use of social media and how we allow people to know everything about our lives, without actually knowing anything about them.
Taylor has recently moved to Croydon from the US, with her husband, and knows no-one. She is pregnant and her husband spends a lot of time away from home so she finds herself home alone and very lonely. Desperate to find a best friend she decides to join a walking club, where she meets Simon, a loner who cares for his elderly father, and Anna, who is also expecting and her husband spends weeks away to work. But is everyone as they seem ? Someone knows everything about your life, but who ?
I really enjoyed this thriller and thought the content was very current with peoples use of social media ........ do you really know who’s watching you ?
The way the story was written was also very clever. It was written from the perspective of Taylor but we also got to see snippets of information from the mystery person watching her via Socual Media. Although we knew this was happening, Taylor has absolutely no idea, which was very different to most books I have read.
A great read and a definite 4* from me. A book that really draws you right from the start.
Thank you to HQ and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.
Having recently moved to the UK from her native USA, Taylor is lonely. Her husband is at work most of the time and with her being heavily pregnant, she is finding it hard to make new friends. All seems to change, however, when she is invited by a neighbour to join a book club and she decides to take part in a local walking group. Has she finally found the friends she craves for or is one of them not exactly what they seem?
Before going any further, it would be useful in sharing the book's blurb with you:
You trust me.
You shouldn’t.
That picture you just posted on Instagram? I’ve seen it.
The location you tagged? I’ve been there.
You haven’t been careful enough, have you?
Because I know all about you.
But when I meet you, I won’t tell you that.
I’ll pretend. Just like you do.
You’ll like me though. You’ll trust me enough to let me into your life.
And then I’ll destroy it.
Throughout the book, which is mainly told from Taylor's perspective, we are privy to the thoughts of another, unknown character: the character from the blurb. From the outset, then, we realise that someone in Taylor's life is not who they say they are and the author does a good job in introducing several characters who could, quite easily, be candidates for this dubious role. Could it be her newly-found friends at the walking group or one of the women at her book club? Aspersions are cast on all of these characters at different times in the book, helping to keep you guessing until all is revealed.
I liked the way the story was written in that although we know that there is a threat towards Taylor, she is blissfully unaware of what is going on around her. In most books of this genre, we are used to seeing the main protagonist becoming more and more paranoid as their world starts to implode. Here, however, she has no clue as to what is about to happen to her, meaning that it is a huge shock when it finally does!
Although I Know You is a fast-paced book anyway, once the event that the unknown character is preparing for finally takes place, I found I could just not put it down! It is difficult to say too much without revealing any spoilers, so all I will say is that I found the ending satisfying and worthy of the build up.
I am a big fan of Annabel Kantaria's writing after reading The One That Got Away and The Disappearance, so I am pleased that I Know You lived up to my expectations. Highly recommended.
"You trust her. You shouldn’t".
Excellent, another great thriller that revolves around technology, namely social media and how we believe that what we see online is to be trusted. But what we must realise is that most of what is on the internet has been put there by someone, and just as you cannot trust everyone in real life, you have to be even more careful with who and what you trust online.
One of my massive bugbears is when a book has a fantastic concept or premise but the author falls short in terms of execution. It always feels as though they've missed a trick. There was no such issue here though.
"I Know You" is a thoroughly absorbing thriller. From the first couple of pages Kantaria had me hooked and I kept on reading way past my bedtime, eventially placing it down at 4am as my eyes would no longer stay open. The characters are well-developed and relatable as well as realistic and likable. I particuarly enjoyed the finale, which was great, unlike a lot of thrillers I have read of late, that have very disappointing endings.
This book highlights the risks of sharing via social media and as a result is thought-provoking and provocative read. I hope it makes people think before posting information about themsevles online, I am certainly very careful as to what details I give out, not just because of the type of people who may see it, but because of the social media companies themselves, who have filled news headlines recently with regards to members privacy.
This is well worth your time and would be the perfect beach read this summer. Recommended.
Many thanks to HQ for an ARC. I was not required to post a review and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
I loved this book and yet again I find myself wishing there was a four and a half star rating available. It had me engrossed from start to finish with interesting if not all likeable characters who were extremely well drawn out through the story. My only gripe is that one of the main characters (I won’t say who as don’t give spoilers) just disappeared from the plot and no proper write out for him.
It’s a super holiday read. I know because I read it on the beach in the south of France. Buy it... you will not be disappointed.
I absolutely loved this book! Totally related to the characters, especially through the use of social media in the book. The main characters were likeable and believable. The ending was just amazing, I was reading the last few chapters with my heart racing until the very end. Definitely worth a read.
This book could have been a five star rating had I not found it so up and down. One minute I was hooked, the next I felt boredom creeping in.
Great idea for a book but just seemed to drag a bit. That's just my personal opinion, I therefore advise you to give it a go.
Quite slow to start, almost gave up on it after the first couple of chapters as I couldn’t seem to get into it, glad I didn’t know as it became a really good psychological thriller that really makes you think about the risks of sharing on social media. Brilliant read.
