This is such a great love story......you can’t help but want to cheer for these characters as they take back their lives afted such injuries that happen to them. The author brings tons of emotions in this heartfelt story that you just can’t put this book down. It really pulls on your emotions in a good way and leaves you smiling at the end of the book when the characters get their perfect HEA. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book to all book lovers out there

I love returning to the established town of Whiskey River for a new series about another group of couples. So while you do not have to have any experience with the original Whiskey River series to enjoy Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor from the Devil’s Rock at Whiskey River series… I’d still recommend the original series as well for it’s an interesting, emotional series that I happened to love.
In their teens there might have been something special between Tobi and Travis. Each considered the other a best friend, but the feelings went beyond that even though both were too unsure of themselves to really test those waters beyond an amazing kiss. Each had their dreams planned out and went off to college with at least a friendship between them. Travis went on to his short lived baseball career and Tobi… well, Tobi dropped off the map during college, communication between them had stopped and Travis had always wondered why. Now Tobi is back in Whiskey River, although she’s using Lynn as her first name at their “introduction”. A lot has changed for them both, yet that spark is still there between them. Trouble is that Travis has chosen the one profession that Tobi is terrified of and will have nothing to do with, at all. Now it’s up to Travis to get to the bottom of her fears and show her that second chances are always possible when the love is strong and true.
In many ways I’d call Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor a slow burn romance with the love always simmering below the surface. The “what ifs” and the “if onlys” are there but the past has to be faced for a very real fear of Tobi’s stands between a happy ever after for this couple. One man’s patience, understanding and steadfast love… plus one rambunctious, adorable puppy… might hold the answers they both need. I loved Tobi and Travis’ romance. It’s a realistic, believable look at facing down a terrifying fear, and reaching out to take a risk when everything inside you shouts to walk away, the pain isn’t worth the chance. Travis is strong, determined and will do anything to ease Tobi back into his world. At times, Tobi seems standoffish and chilly, but that is her fear speaking. Watching them, and Lucky, get beyond her barriers and learn to live and love without fear was a delightful journey. I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of this series. As always Eve Gaddy delivers a love story that’s down to earth and full of the hopes of love and forever. If you love Contemporary Romance with interesting characters, a couple to cheer on and that special small town charm… then have I got a book for you. Check out Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor – I think you’ll enjoy yourself, I know I certainly did.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor is trademark Eve Gaddy - light, sexy and set in small town Texas. Whiskey River is a town I’ve been getting to know over the last year or so and the more stories I read that are set there, the more I like this little town.
Tobi and Travis have been friends since high school, though they’ve lost touch with each other over the years. Travis has returned to Whiskey River to join with his friends to grow their air charter business. Tobi, now a doctor, has come home to join the local Urgent Care medical practice. She doesn’t form close relationships these days - her best friend died in an air crash in which she was the only survivor. She’s frightened of losing somebody close to her again. Travis, on the other hand, is drawn to Tobi from the first time he sees her again after years apart.
This is a light and sexy read in which author Eve Gaddy has created characters who are easy to like. She has dealt well with the post traumatic stress issues that Tobi faces, and has developed a story which I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Travis Sullivan and Tobi Robinson were part of a foursome of friends through high school and kept contact into college. In her second year of college, Tobi ceased all communication with Travis, baffling him as to why.
In this sweet novel of love sparking and growing, Travis and Tobi admit their love but hers is tormented by the one big, hug phobia in her life: flying. Alas, Travis is a pilot. Tobi seems okay with his profession until a near miss sends her packing. Travis cannot figure out the deeper reason for her running away and until she comes to solid and real terms with her deeply seated fear, she would rather achingly and miserably harbor her love for Travis than live in fear forever of losing him to a plane crash. Anyone with a deeply rooted phobia will surely relate to Tobi’s extreme distress and hope for a viable solution to bring live back for Travis and Tobi.

Rebel Pilot Texas Doctor by Eve Gaddy is the first of a new spin-off series from the Whiskey River Series. It begins at the Kelly Ball but stands well alone. The Devil's Rock at Whiskey River has more to do with the airfield owners, in which Travis is one.
The story is charming with the right amount of angst. It is a returning home and second chance romance with Travis and Tobi as the focus. Both are charming but there are realistic problems that hinder them from an uncomplicated relationship. There is a hint of mystery in Tobi’s past after she left Whiskey River which made me keep reading to understand her reservations.
Rebel Pilot Texas Doctor is an engaging summer time book. Just the kind of book you want to relax by the pool reading. Now let’s hope that Travis’ friends and business partners get their own stories.

Sweet story. Easy flow and reading. High school friends grow apart and come back together. Tragedy strikes paths change, lovely story and I enjoyed finding a new author.

If you’re looking for a fun contemporary romance with well developed characters - including their flaws and all - a sense of community and some surprises along the way, you could read any book by this talented author, including this one. This one is the start of a new series set in the close knit community of Devil’s Rock and is a delightful second chance romance but one with a serious difference as the heroine has a totally understandable fear of anything to do with flying and the hero is a pilot!
In High School, Tobi Robinson and Travis Sullivan had grown up as best friends who secretly became more until circumstances sent them on their separate ways and they lost contact. Now Tobi is returning to work as a Doctor and Travis has already returned after his pro baseball career was scuppered by injury. Now he is a pilot in a charter flight business and teaches others in the associated flight school. They meet again at a community event and Travis recognises her straight away - unlike the other two men who had been part of this quartet in school. The attraction is still there between Tobi and Travis but she is terrified of anything to do with flying. Can Travis discover why she is so fearful and help her overcome her phobia so they can have a future together?
Although this is the start of a series, it is a complete story and there are no cliffhanger endings. It is a lovely story, investigating the events from each other’s past, rekindling their love and overcoming obstacles in the path of their love. The angst is so understandable once you discover what happened to Tobi and how Travis helps is heartwarming. This story has everything I love about small time romances - the setting is brought to life and the secondary characters are well developed so I suspect they’ll feel like friends by the time the series ends. I definitely look forward to learning more about them in future books in the series and have no hesitation in recommending this story to anyone who enjoys contemporary friends to lovers or second chance romances.
I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

A possible second chance at love. Great characters and dialogue. Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor by Eve Gaddy, the first book in the Devil's Rock at Whiskey River series. I look forward to see what the next book brings to us.

What a lovely second chance, friends to lovers story. Lately I have reading block but this one kept my attention from the start until the HEA on the end!
The storyline and the characters are well written and everything is developing nicely throughout the story.
Without giving any spoilers, this is a first part of the serial about small town Whiskey River and my guess is that every book will have another couple from the childhood friends, but lets get back on this first couple...
Travis Sullivan and Dr. Tobi Robinson are meeting eachother at the gala after years not contacting with eachother and he is the only one of the friends that recognizes her. They had a thing on the prom night but nothing happened after that.
Years passed and he is a pilot after his injury and not being able to became pro baseball player, and she is a doctor now after changing her major at college right after her plane accident where she was the only survivor.
This is a lovely story about overcoming fears in the name of love and giving a try to build something that started years ago while they were good friends in high school .
I'm leaving to you to read it and enjoy it by yourself and see how everything happened

Excellent read! Great writing and characters with a nice storyline set in a wonderful small town. This is a friends to lovers story and it will definitely leave you smiling.
Tobi Robinson returns to Whiskey River a changed woman. No longer is she the rough tomboy of her youth. Nobody seems to recognize her except her childhood crush Travis Sullivan. Travis is no longer that boy of her memories, he's a grown man and a fine one at that. They are both very different from those high school days and the people they are now have a strong attraction to each other. Events from their past may get in their way but if they can find a way beyond them they may just find their happily ever after.
I recommend this one.

This was a well paced romance, the chemistry was always simmering right underneath the surface and I liked that their relationship spanned several weeks and wasn’t insta-love (although I’d argue that Travis was half in love with Tobi from first seeing her again at the Gala!). Travis was a good guy, he was supportive, understanding and always thought of Tobi’s needs first. That being said, Tobi came off a little too standoffish at times. Her traumatic past was horrible but I never really felt the emotional pull of her struggle. This might just be me, but I read how she would freeze up and her heart would accelerate at the mere thought of a plane but the intensity was missing. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed her with Lucky so much. No one can turn a cute pup away and watching her soften towards him was heartwarming. For someone who claimed to want solitude, Tobi really took to Lucky in a blink :)
This type of writing – low angst, light drama/conflict, small town setting with every day average people – reminds me a lot of Laura Trentham’s Cottonbloom series, which I love! For a smooth and easy romance with a friends to lovers trope, I would definitely recommend checking this and the rest of the new series out.

Tobi and Travis's romance story. Overall a good story, and kept my interest throughout. Tobi is a doctor and Travis is a pilot of small air-crafts in their small Texas town. Having survived a horrible plane crash years ago, Tobi has fears of planes, and gets overwhelmed at times about Travis's safety. Find it hard to see that she didn't have or need more counseling, as it is apparent her fears are crippling. Would highly recommend this book and author.

Awesome read! This book depicts real life scenarios. Once Tobi is able to deal with her fear of flying, she opens a world of trust and is able to have meaningful relationships again. One of these relationships becomes forever love.

I really enjoyed this book! I enjoy second chance love stories! They both liked each other in high school but the other didn't know and years later they are reintroduced and well that's where the story starts! Travis and Tobi are just adorable together. They are perfect for each other except something in her past makes her never want to get on a plane again and Travis is a pilot. Throughout the book you are routing for them, hoping everything will work out. I love stories like that, where you feel like you are walking along side the characters, like they are your best friends and you are right there through it all. Eve does a fantastic job of making you fall in love with Travis and Tobi! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good Romance with a splash of dirty!

Love the friends to lovers stories! Tomboy Tobi Robinson returns home a changed woman- both on the inside and on the outside. Tobi hang around the 3 crazy guys in Whiskey River and only her crush recognizes the now smoking hot doctor. Of all things that gives her away, Travis Sullivan knows immediately from the smile that the gorgeous woman everyone is wanting to dance with is none other than his good friend growing up.
Tobi can't deny the chemistry between her and Travis, but chemistry can only get you so far. Tobi has a tragic past that is haunting her and there is no way to escape it if she gives sexy pilot Travis a chance. What can Travis do when his love of flying is the source of absolute terror for Tobi? But he knows they are meant to be- not for one night, but forever. Travis knows Tobi feels it too but she is determined to keep him at a distance. Travis has his work cut out for him and Tobi by no means intends to make it easy. Realizing that a crippling fear isn't so much tied to an object but to the love you hold for that person will open Tobi's eyes and allow her to see and feel love.
Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story about second chances with high school friends Tobi and Travis reconnecting years later. Overall, I enjoyed the plot although there are sections where the flow is interrupted with developments that are not fully explained. I received an ARC via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Tobi and Travis were friends in high school, but hadn’t seen each other for several years. They reconnect when Tobi moves back to Whiskey River. Tobi is still dealing with emotional trauma related to being the sole survivor of a plane crash several years earlier. She has always been drawn to a Travis, but she’s afraid to get close to him since he’s a pilot. She eventually works through that fear. While it’s a nice story, I never felt any chemistry between the main characters. I really felt like the plot was just going through the motions. I didn’t feel like this was one of Ms. Gaddy’s better works.

"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!

Rebel Pilot, Texas Doctor is my first read by Eve Gaddy and I have no doubt that this first instalment in the Devil's Rock at Whiskey River series will only guarantee that readers want more.
Essentially a second chance romance, the story has an element of suspense, plenty of small town charm, and intense chemistry thrown in too. An all round well-written story, with great character development and an easy to follow plot; Ms Gaddy has ensured I will be looking forward to the next instalment in the series.
