While Maple and Spice started well, it slowly meandered downhill. The main character had all the qualities I love in a good lead (i.e., promising career, entertaining secondary characters in the form of her family, interesting relationship prospects), but they were squandered.

I found her choices in men to be inconsistent and lacking. Her first relationship was the most drawn out and detailed, but the second reeked of a desperate high school girl instead of a mid-30s Ph.D. candidate. And her third relationship made absolutely no sense.

Maple and Spice started off with so much promise and I hate that it wasn't able to live up to it.

A touching book with beautiful characters that the author made you feel we’re true to life, vivid and honest. The storyline captured your mind and transports you to a different country and way of life where ancient customs and rituals play a huge part in modern life. Sad and poignant at times but with some fantastic life lessons and an insight into a world of hope and high expectations. A must read from a fabulous new author.

Zero stars! There is so much that's negative about this book I don't even know where to start, Really terrible writing style, dialogue is all over the p,ace, unlikable characters , and about as engrossing as a root canal. Avoid at all costs!
