The Silent Sister is an excellent psychological thriller,a genre that Shalini Boland is very good at.The book is full of twists and turns that had me gripped from the first page.Based around Lizzy who suddenly starts to receive notes telling her she is being watched, but by who ?? Emma,Lizzy's sister becomes involved who she has been estranged from for years.and together they try to get to the bottom of the notes when it becomes clear that Emma is being targeted as well. The book leaves you thinking who is really responsible and with plenty of red herrings along the way leaves you turning the pages wanting to get to the terrific ending which i for one never saw coming !! Shalini Boland has once again penned an excellent psychological thriller which is clearly her forte.5 stars without a doubt.

WOW!! I was gripped from page one. We are always so excited to see Shalini Boland come out with a new book and can’t wait to get a hold of it. This one was no different!
Shalini never disappoints and The Silent Sister was right up there with the rest. The dark twisty mystery of this book made it unputdownable! I didn’t want to stop reading or for it to end. I love it when I can’t figure it out. Shalini gets your mind going in so many directions, who is sending those letters? Is someone watching her? What really happened that tore the family apart? The title doesn’t even make sense fully until about 90% through and the epilogue will send you head spinning!!!! Talk about crazy until the very last page… omg!
I loved The Silent Sister and couldn’t stop talking about it! Shalini Boland has quickly become one of our favorite authors! The Silent Sister is another Top Read for this year!🤩😍

It's been a couple of weeks since I finished this book (generously provided by netgalley, thank you!!) and I had to refresh my memory on it. It was an entertaining book, but not memorable. Once I re-read about it, it came back to me who was tormenting her and the story, but it wasn't a story that stayed with me, unfortunately.

I thoroughly enjoyed this intriguing read, which continued throwing out surprises chapter after chapter. Lizzy has a stalker who’s getting increasingly close and personal. And violent. Even her cat seems to be a victim. But Lizzy is no shrinking violet. She involves the police and even tries to hire a private investigator. The rest of her life is not exactly brilliant either. Someone’s stealing at work, her boyfriend’s a creep (my opinion) and her mother is a tad odd. The stalker seems to have a really well-thought out plan, and is getting more audacious. We see the stalker’s thoughts every now again – luckily this technique is used sparingly, adding to the intrigue without becoming irritating. Lizzy gets to a stage where she suspects everyone – as did I. And just when I thought everything was neatly sewn up….. well let me just say that it definitely wasn’t!

The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland is her newest psychological thriller that got me all fired up, as I burned my way through the book I was so engrossed in the plot that I never saw the time fly by, Shalini you seared my memory with an imprint that will take a long time to disperse.

What I never realised is how well Shalini turns the plot, folding, twisting and buckling me over and over with all the clues, red herrings and the downright WTH moments, Shalini has a certain flair which flourishes with every book written.

Right I think that’s enough bigging up of Shalini, lets get down to what we are all here for the actual book and what I thought.

The Silent Sister is built around Lizzy Beresford, who starts receiving threatening anonymous letters. As the letters escalate the threats become more intense until Lizzy is fearing for her life, who can Lizzy turn too, who can Lizzy trust, can Lizzy stay safe or are these letters just the beginning. Lizzy has a fractious relationship with her sister whom she technically hasn’t spoken to properly in a few years, just on days when it is necessary like the visits to her mothers.

Lizzy is one of those characters you just can’t help believing in, feeling every threat as it washes over Lizzy every time she reads what is written before her eyes, the fear, the tension, the disturbing way they are delivered for maximum effect. A stalker who holds no bounds. Holy hell I worried for Lizzy, I feared for Lizzy, the scenario was so plausible that any one of us could be in the same position as Lizzy.

If you want to waste no time and be sucked into a book The Silent Sister is certainly the book for you. It was so easy for Shalini to lure me into the book, hold my attention and ensure that I gambled each and every time with who I though was the culprit, but damn I was wrong, my suspicions were never compounded in fact they were flawed till the very end.

The Silent Sister is an easily read piece of work, no overly dramatic interpretations of scenes, straight forward and too the point, well controlled in setting out the secrets, the twists and most of all the bang which Shalini creates in the double edged ending.

My thanks go to Bookouture, Shalini Boland and Kim Nash for the advanced readers copy of The Silent Sister, it has been my pleasure to read and review this book giving my honest, unbiased opinion. It has been fantastic to be part of the Blog Blitz for The Silent Sister and I look forward to the next psychological thriller that Shalini impresses us with, hopefully it won’t be too long.

4.5 Taut Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

Another fast pace book by Shalini Boland that kept me turning those pages and staying up past my bedtime... from the minute Lizzie found an envelope that appeared aged and as though it was coming up through the floorboards I was hooked! Even the thought of this still gives me goosebumps and the heebie-jeebies... can you imagine an envelope with your name on it just appearing out of nowhere, with the words” you don’t deserve a sister” on it? Creepy!

Lizzy is a outgoing, trusting, and kind person... she is a hard-working reliable shop manager and a faithful and loving girlfriend to Joe.... she is also being STALKED! I think because Lizzie was so likable and relatable and really could be any girl... made this book so much more disturbing and tents for me.... everyone in Lizzie’s life appeared suspicious to both Lizzie and me... from her boyfriend Joe, to her coworker/friend pippa to her boss George, to her next-door neighbor Ian... everyone looked a little guilty... Lizzie and I saw a little badguy in everyone!

Now to complicate things further Lizzie and her sister have been estrange from one another for many years... but could your sister the girl you played dolls with as a kid do this to you? The relationship between Lizzie and Emma was an interesting one and I liked how it was revealed to us throughout this book.... The stalker’s actions in this book escalated throughout the book and got scarier and Boulder as time went on... as much as I liked Lizzie and really felt for her she really didn’t always think things through.... she really did some pretty stupid things...things I would hope I would never do if someone were hunting me! But fortunately I have never been in this situation...

This book was perfectly paced and filled with all the twists and turns you want from a psychological thriller... The ending caught me completely offguard... and that apologue... wowza!

Absolutely recommend to fans of a twisty psychological thriller....

*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

Wow this was my third book by Shalini Boland and it wont be my last. I loved it. I had had it figured out by 80% but then the Epilogue threw me for another loop. I really liked Lizzy, I didn't care for Joe or Pippa just because I felt like they were using her for different things. I felt that it was a fast paced read with twisty twists for sure. Read this book!

This was my first book by the author and I can happily say that I now plan to read all of her books. I like her writing style and I was quickly drawn into the story.

The characters were skillfully defined and I wasn’t sure who to trust ( I was going back and forth with my guesses)! Lizzy is receiving creepy messages and she is starting to worry. Some of these developments gave me an eerie feeling. Lizzy doesn’t have the best relationship with her sister, Emma. They have been estranged for a few years, but she doesn’t consider her an enemy, but should she?

Her stalker starts to get a bit more aggressive and Lizzy is on edge. I was determined to put my detective hat on and solve the mystery. There were plenty of clues to piece together. In the end, I was shocked and surprised. I didn’t see that final twist coming. The last few chapters were filled with tension and I just had to know how it was going to wrap up! The cat named Frank was an added plus for me.

I found this one to be a fast suspenseful read with some unforeseen twisty moments! A great pick for readers who like to keep guessing until the end!

This was the first psychological thriller that I have read by this author and I am now anxious to read their other work! I love how this book kept a fast pace, as I enjoyed it more vs rushing to finish it like I do when books drag on too long.

I still have chills down my spine. This is a really good, gripping read the whole way through. I have read a few Shalini Borland books and they are all really good. Lizzie is being stalked. The identity of the stalker is really clever. I had no idea where everything was going to lead. The plot is really well written and really well put together. The ending is brilliant. I would definitely recommend this book.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy of the eARC in exchange for a fair review.

Lizzy thinks life is grand other than the fact that she hasn't spoken to her sister in a number of years. Ever since Emma made a pass at him. Until one day she finds a letter inside her house addressed to her and it simple says I am obsessed with you.

Lizzy finds it creepy, but she isn't too worried until she finds another a few days later at her job. She knows then that someone is stalking her. She calls the police to tell them about the letters, but there really isn't too much she can do. As things begin to happen Lizzy finds herself feeling more and more paranoid and worried about who is following her around.

I would say so much more, but the twists in this book keep coming all the way until the end. I will say that I had figured out part of it so I wasn't too shocked by the reveal. But that epilogue had me reeling. I was stunned. I really liked Lizzy, I did think she was too trusting and way too willing to accuse anyone and everyone of having a hand in the letters. However, that being said I can totally see how the paranoia would ramp up with every incident and how you could begin to suspect almost everyone of having a hand in it.

I am a little sad that was a standalone, because the way it ended Lizzy deserves so much more, she deserves to know the truth and I want to read that!

An enjoyable and fast-paced read! I'm a fan of Shalini Boland and will read everything she writes!

It all starts with a letter through the floorboards... a very old looking letter yet dated that very day. A sinister letter addressed to Lizzy. Who wrote it and what do they want?

I didn't trust anyone! Who can Lizzy trust? Everyone is a suspect. If you haven't read any of this author's work, what are you waiting for? Can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

A huge thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book, greatly appreciated.

What a read!!

Why haven't I read anything by this author by now is a mystery to me. Shalini Boland can deliver punch after punch and you still beg for more.

Lizzy finds herself in situation, none of us would want to experience. She has a stalker and what feels at the beginning as innocent crush or mild obsession, turns into very creepy way to make you scared for her life. Someone knows awful lot about her, her life, work,...

I loved this book. Engaging and captivating thriller keeps you guessing. I suspected everyone and kept going back and forth, changing my mind after each twist but couldn't work it out. See if you can!

No doubt I will be reading more by this author soon!

Probably an odd way to start a review by mentioning the ending but I hereby declare Shalini Boland the “Queen of Epilogues” because every single time, she manages to put a spin on everything you’ve read on the pages preceding it! Makes me want to read the whole thing again to see how I missed the clues, if there are any.

Anywho, to the beginning.

Few things sound as scary to me as having a stalker. Someone who knows your every move, sometimes even seemingly before you do. Someone who taunts you and terrifies you, who makes you suspicious of everyone you meet. This is what happens to Lizzy when she starts receiving odd notes at home and at work. The police are no help at all and so it falls to Lizzy herself to figure out who wishes her harm. Could it be her sister, Emma? Her boyfriend, Joe? Her neighbours? Her boss/landlord? The cat?!

This is one of those stories where you are suspicious of just about everyone. Like me, you may find yourself zeroing in on a potential suspect, then double-guessing yourself, backtracking and getting utterly confused. Not helped by the fact that either someone is acting like a total creep or is too good to be true.

I found this one started out a bit slow but the tension did build up in the second part and true to form there are a few twists and turns I didn’t quite see coming. Even though, I thought I knew who the stalker was, I couldn’t at all figure out their connection to Lizzy, nor why they had it in for her as much as they did.

Shalini Boland is one of those authors who constantly delivers and I have no doubt fans of her previous books will enjoy this twisty tale of secrets, betrayal and revenge as well.

Everything I could want in a psychological thriller, it certainly got my pulse racing.
It drew me in and I was keen to get to the bottom of it all.
The increasingly threatening letters and other goings-on had me stumped?
Lizzy is turning into a paranoid wreck. She’s suspicious of everyone. I can’t blame her as I would be the same. The ending was unexpected, I never worked it out!
I thoroughly recommend this book, a gripping read.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the review copy in which I give my honest opinion.

Lizzy is receiving anonymous letters. Letters which are starting to get threatening. Who could it be and why? To start with she wonders if it could be someone who asked her out, despite her living with her boyfriend Joe. Whoever it is appears to know alot about her- where she works and what she does. When there is an accident that could have been far more serious she starts to think it could be her sister Emma. A sister she rarely sees and who doesn’t speak to her, having tried to steal Lizzies boyfriend years beforehand. I had my suspicions several times, almost suspecting everyone in Lizzies life. Was I right? No! This is one of those reads that keeps you in suspense the whole way through and although you are expecting the twist when it comes (and again) I hadn’t seen what was in front of my eyes. I’ll say not more other than a gripping, thrilling read which kept me in it’s pages for the duration. Another brilliant read from Shalini. You won’t be disappointed.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am definitely in the minority on this highly rated book. This book is about a woman who gets notes from a stalker and the effort to uncover who the stalker is. I didn't like it and had a hard time getting through it. I gave it a 3 because a book has to be truly awful to get a 1 or 2. This wasn't awful, I just really didn't care for it. The plot was fine, the ending was plausible and somewhat surprising, even the title ended up being sort of creative even though I was questioning it throughout. There were enough characters that could have been guilty and I really didn't know who the stalker was until the end, so based on all of that, I should have loved this book, but I didn't. My main issue was with the narrator, Lizzie. I could not stand her. I thought she was so wishy washy and I didn't feel like her behavior made sense most of the time. I felt like she was accusing people of being her stalker just because they existed in close proximity to her. I also just didn't care for the writing style of this author. I thought Lizzie's thoughts were very repetitive and elementary and it just didn't work for me at all. I would be concerned that if I read another book from this author the narrator would be equally annoying. Additionally, I thought the epilogue was sort of unnecessary and didn't add anything to the story, it just made me think Lizzy was more dumb than I already thought she was. I also didn't understand the point of the arrangement that was described.

Lizzy, a loyal, dedicated manager of an upmarket clothes and gift shop, starts receiving letters from a stalker. Could they be from her controlling live-in boyfriend of five years? the embezzling store employee or her brother? her estranged sister? the local bar owner? her neighbors? a customer? The interactions and relationships of the characters will keep you guessing until the unexpected twist at the end. I highly recommend this compelling, page-turning, do-not-want-to-put-this-down read!

I am a recent convert to this author and she has very quickly become a favourite of mine! Her books are all fantastically addictive and easily devoured. I know that when I pick up anything written by Shalini Boland, it will take A LOT to be able to tear me away from it. And thankfully The Silent Sister is yet another example of the twisty and shocking thrillers that I have come to love and expect from her.

Lizzie Beresford starts getting anonymous letters delivered to her home and place of work. As the threatening behaviour increases, she struggles to cope especially when she has no clue as to who her stalker is…..And that’s all I’m going to say about the plot! Honestly, the less you know about this book the better! I became hooked very early on by the characters as I was completely flummoxed by them all, unsure who to trust. EVERYONE was a suspect to me and as the narrative continued, I found I got MORE confused about who was doing this to Lizzy rather than my usual smugness about having guessed the who, what, where and why! There are some very clever red herrings swimming about this compelling mystery, just enough to unsettle the reader, and I was constantly wavering over who I suspected and why!

If you’re after an intriguing thriller then The Silent Sister is the book for you, especially if you like an unexpected sting in your “tale”! I didn’t think I could be shocked anymore than I already had been by the reveal here but then Shalini Boland proved once again why she’s one of my “go to” authors. What an ending!! Bravo for pulling the wool over my eyes and hitting me with a jaw dropping finish that I didn’t see coming for one moment!

Top marks from me!
