One morning, while home alone, Lizzy Beresford hears a strange noise. When she goes downstairs she finds an envelope at her door. The thing is, the envelope is inside of her door, jutting up between the floorboards. Who could've sent her the note, and how in the world did they get inside?

Unfortunately for Lizzy, this note is the first of several. She began to doubt those closest to her -- her boyfriend, her neighbors, even her friends. The notes are far too personal. Someone knows far too much about Lizzy, and so, naturally, she is terrified. Lizzy has led a relatively comfortable life until now. She has a terrific job and is in a comfortable relationship with her boyfriend Joe.

Lizzy is estranged from sister, Emma, however, and so she even suspects Emma of leaving her the letters. Due to a shocking change of circumstances, she reaches out to Emma, although this fills her with great trepidation, but she finds that she has no choice but to trust her.

The Silent Sister is full of twists and turns, often at breakneck speed. Although this was a quick read, I thought I had a bead on the stalker, or even more knowledge as to why the sisters were estranged. But I must stop here in my speculation, as I certainly do not want to give any spoilers. Suffice it to say that this is a fantastic read, and I have to say that Shalini Boland completely surprised me. I had no idea who the stalker was, and I still had trouble wrapping my mind around it when I discovered who it was. If that wasn't enough to completely throw me off course, the ending was just as shocking. This was a fast-paced book, easily read in two sittings. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Loved this book, even when I was not reading it I kept thinking about it and couldn’t wait to pick it up again, hence I finished it in a day. Would definitely recommend to others and can’t wait to read other titles from this author.

This is a fast paced, tense thriller. There are so many red herrings, I just could not work out where this story was going. This story touches on mental health issues. I liked what I thought was the final twist at the end of the story, and then there was another good one in the epilogue. Another fantastic read form the author.

This has been a highly addictive and entertaining read from start to finish.  Not that I should be surprised as none of Shalini books have ever failed to disappoint me. Her books are always such a joy and thrill to read.

I thought the story plot was so cleverly entwined and I really enjoyed getting to know each of the characters and seeing how each of their stories developed throughout.

I was truly captivated and enthralled with this book and throughout reading it, I kept trying to piece everything together in my head, and figure it all out, and wondering how it would all end. Suffice to say I couldn't have been more wrong if I tried.

There were plenty of surprises, twists and turns come the final chapters that I literally didn't see coming.

So heres a total random comment about the book, I completely fell in love with Frank the cat, he is completely adorable and handsome. I loved how he had such a biggish part to play throughout the story and it was clear to see that his owner Lizzy loves him. Yep I have a weakness for cats lol, totally cat crazy.

So last word's, if you haven't read any of Shalini's books yet, then don't delay any further as her books are highly recommended.

I enjoyed reading this book because I was completely lost as to who the stalker was. I’m the one who can figure it out from the beginning, and actually thought I had…but I sure was wrong!
I felt I knew Lizzy, she was a strong character in the book. She was independent yet could be vulnerable also at times. I believe she didn’t like having to depend on other people, while at the same time realizing she needed to.
This book will keep you guessing until the end, it’s a fast pace, and will pull you in from the beginning.
I give this a 5 star!

This is a tense psychological thriller by an author I have not read before, but whose name has been popping up a lot in my GR feed, and I will definitely be on the lookout for more.

Lizzy has a quiet comfortable life with boyfriend Joe, managing a shop in a small picturesque Wiltshire town, the only clouds are being estranged from her older sister, Emma, and a difficult relationship with her controlling mother. When Lizzy starts receiving odd notes, she is initially bemused, but as the notes escalate into threats she doesn't know who to suspect, or who she can trust...

I don't normally like the first person present tense in fiction, but this works well to keep the suspense and sense of threat going throughout the book. My biggest anxiety was for Frank the cat, but be reassured, he gets a happy ending of sorts. I didn't particularly like Lizzy as a character, she is both vain and insecure, and does some silly things, although at least she was alert to threats from the beginning rather than ignoring them...

The reveal was not a complete surprise, the title being a bit of a giveaway, but there were plenty of red herrings, and I liked the unexpected epilogue. This was a quick read, the chapters are the perfect length for "Just One More..." so I finished it within 24 hours.

Finished in one day as I was hooked!

I loved this book. Bookouture is fast becoming my go to publisher. This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won't be the last. Grabs you from the first page and that ending....wow! Did not see that coming! I read this in a day as I couldn't put it down. Can't recommend it enough.

Another brilliant book from one of my favourite authors, this one is a cracker! Lizzie is estranged from her sister Emma and has a rocky relationship with her mother. She lives with boyfriend Joe and they seem to have a good relationship although Joe does seem slightly controlling which rings a few alarm bells. Lizzie begins receiving strange letters and several unsettling events begin happening to her. She begins to realise she has a stalker but she can't understand what they want from her. Increasingly, she feels more and more threatened as the stalker's behaviour escalates.
I liked the way Lizzie involved the police right from the start and that she was determined not to let the stalker beat her. I also loved some of the characters, like her colleagues and neighbours, and the way each of them showed a hint of suspicious behaviour to imply their guilt in some way. Just when you think things have been resolved - bang- you have to reconsider! Very cleverly written and I would certainly recommend this book

This is the third book I have read by this author, Shalini Boland, and another of her hard-to-put-down stories. She does an excellent job with characterization and capturing the emotions of the people in her books. She also has a way of drawing me into the story and keeping me reading, at times wanting nothing more than to skip to the final pages to see what is really going on. But I never do.

Shalini did an excellent job of ramping up the frightening situations and showing the main character, Lizzy’s escalating fear, but then Shalini would have her take really stupid chances that I don’t feel someone that frightened would take. While this didn’t overly detract from the story, there were times I would feel a bit puzzled by the contradictions.

I definitely think this is an author to look out for if you like psychological suspense stories, and if you have enough free time on your hands to read the book without a lot of distractions.

Lizzie is happily living with her boyfriend, Joe, and their cat, Frank, working with her best friend, Pippa, in a job she loves, managing an upscale clothing store. Everything is good in her world, except for a feud with her sister, Emma, that has been going on for years. Then mysterious notes start appearing addressed to Lizzie that indicate she is being watched. Lizzie contacts the police but they aren't able to stop the notes from appearing. Lizzie begins questioning everyone in her life.

Less said about the plot of this book the better because the fun is in reading it and seeing if you can figure out all the twists and turns (you won't be able to!). I couldn't put this one down - it grabbed me from the start. Highly recommended!

This is a fantastic book that will pull you in from the first few pages.
Lizzy hears a noise downstairs and finds a letter addressed to her which says “you’re my only obsession.” She finds it in her kitchen and can’t work out how it got there.
A few days later at work she receives another letter which says they enjoy watching her.
Lizzy and her boyfriend decide to call the Police as she’s starting to get very worried.
Other messages are left for her and Lizzy soon becomes paranoid about those around her and wonders who is doing this, and why.
Things take a more dangerous turn when she is hurt by an anonymous person and the Police step up their search for this person.
Lizzy has Joe for support but questions about their past soon arise and when her sister Emma makes contact again a dramatic confrontation is the only way it can end.
Lizzy is desparate to know who sent the letters and who hurt her, and as a reader I had no clue who it was so was also desparate to know!
This is a gripping read that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Lizzie is happily living with her boyfriend Joe even if he is a little insecure and controlling. She is estranged from her sister Emma and suddenly receives some creepy notes at home and in her workplace.

Emma begins to feel very vulnerable and is suspicious of everyone around her, her colleague, her boss and landlord, her sister and even her colleague's brother. She informs the police against Joe's wishes as he has a record for assault on an admirer of Lizzie's. Everyone appears to fancy Lizzie!

This is another well paced and tense thriller by this author and kept me guessing right up to the last page. It shows how a stalker can have such a physical and emotional impact on a person's life and how controlling someone can be without you even realizing.

I finished this book a couple of days ago but I was unsure how to review/rate it because I had mixed feeling. Starting with the reading experience by itself it was quite good, like it always happens to me with Shalini Boland's books I started it rather slow, the writing is very simple, full of dialogues, a bit repetitive, but quickly the story gained my complete attention and I kept returning to the book any free moment I got.
I loved the sense of dread, of being afraid of everyone, suspecting even the closest friends, family, loved people of being a mad stalker. The ending is what I'm still trying to process. At first it seemed quite underwelming, then it became like a loud bang, destroying everything around. I was axpecting something like that, but I'm still trying to put it together with the rest of the book. I think it doesn't add up with some of the story. If I tried to read the whole book again keeping the ending in my mind..there's something that doesn't completely convince me about some characters' motives and behaviours. Anyway it doesn't detract too much from the story, so four stars that could have been five if the epilogue was a little more believable.
If anybody thinks different about it I'll be glad to hear your point of view!

The Silent Sister is a fast paced roller coaster ride that is packed full of so many twists that by the time you reach the end, you are still reeling! Brilliant!!!

Another great book from Shalini. Lizzy has a stalker and they seem to know a lot about her is it someone close to her. At first it’s just letters but then other things start to happen and she is pushed into the oncoming traffic do they want to kill her. Lizzy doesn’t know who to trust her world is falling apart and she doesn’t know why or who is causing it. A great thriller with lots of twists.

This is the first book I have read by Shalini Boland and I can honestly say it won’t be the last.

This is a story about Lizzy Beresford, who lives with her boyfriend Joe in a quiet country cottage. One morning she finds an old letter between the floorboards in her home but it is dated with today’s date and is addressed to her. This letter is the start of many more disturbing incidents that cause Lizzy to doubt everyone around her. Who is sending her the letters ? Is she safe ?

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me guessing right until the end. Also, that ending !!!!

If you love your psychological thrillers you will really enjoy this book. It’s not a jumpy scary book but it definitely makes you think ......... what would you do in Lizzy’s position, how scared would you be if someone was targeting you and you had no idea who it was ?

A great read that will keep you guessing until the end. I look forward to reading more books by Shalini.

I just finished The Silent Sister by Shalini Boland and she has definitely turned into one of my favorite authors. The book is extremely fast paced and totally absorbing and if you don’t have enough time to read for awhile you should probably postpone it. I thought I had guessed the ending for the first time in my life but then a couple of pages sent the story in a totally different direction and ended on that note. An absolutely great book and I will happily recommend this book to anyone and am sure this will be a runaway success. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book ahead of publishing in exchange for my unbiased review. Five stars.

Wow! This author is someone who consistently delivers and is one of my favourite psychological thriller writers of today! With a fast paced, heart pulsing plot with a twist in almost every page, this book is, I think, her best so far and that's saying something as all her books have been five star reads for me! This is an author to watch and a book everyone should read. Fabulous and very highly recommended!
