I LOVED that book! I need to buy it now. I realized that with my food intolerances, I already follow the Keto Diet... There's a big chapter in the beginning of the book that explains the basics of the Keto Diet, and I learned a lot. A lot of the recipes have their pictures. I need to know what the recipe is supposed to look like, even if it won't look like that when I will make it. The nutrition facts are shown per serving, that’s a big plus. And there’s alternatives for food allergies when possible. There’s also icons at the beginning of each recipe that indicate if it’s dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free, nightshade-free, vegetarian, etc.
Thanks to Quarto Publishing for my e-copy through NetGalley.
Thank you for letting me know that this book existed! Great recipes, although I cannot actually make most of them. Mainly the cost of the ingredients are higher for some, I still have to cook for husband and children, so adding flaxseed/ psyllium husk/ cacao butter would push the budget over.
Some of the recipes are easier to adapt into my lifestyle. The pictures look really appetizing, looks like a wholesome meal!
Love your alternative section, at least one day I have time to plan on making some of the recipes. Especially ones involving salmon and soup .
The KetoDiet is a controversial topic, but this book wants to help you understand the science behind it and get you started following this diet with easy recipes. The author knows what she's talking about, she changed her eating habits in 2011 and has researched the science behind the KetoDiet thoroughly. Furthermore, she and her partner have created an APP with recipes and a blog that helps millions of visitors to follow this lifestyle. An important fact that is stressed throughout the book is, the KetoDiet is not purely about weight loss it is about a healthier lifestyle.
The recipes in this book are varied and offer simple meals that can be made from a basic stock of ingredients (keto-friendly, of course). Small symbols tell you whether a recipe is vegetarian, or dairy-free,or egg-free, etc. There is even a small symbol indicating whether this recipe is a good choice for the induction phase of the KetoDiet. There are even cake recipes!
This book fully explains the diet and gives you over 100 recipes to get you started. This book really is great for the beginner as well as those who have been on the diet. The author gives measurements and provides charts and nutritional values on different foods.
I have been trying to find a way to lose weight and one thing that everyone is raving about is the Keto Diet and I thought why not give it a try. I have found that it's an easier diet to follow, but for some having major food allergies can cause an issue for following it as well. I did find that the recipes were easy to follow and it was simple to make too. Some of the recipes I made were good but some I looked and didn't feel like my family would enjoy at all. I do have to say that I plan on using this cookbook more and I can't wait to make more tasty recipes for me and my family! I highly recommend this book for all those who are interested in beginning the Keto Diet and you will enjoy the book and how easy the recipes are. And the steps to going Keto has been wonderful for those who are just plain lost on how to begin it on their own. Thank you for this!
This book had some amazing recipes that were easy to follow. The Keto Diet is still new to me, so I have been looking for tasty things to try to make that were not expensive and time consuming. This book hit both of those marks!
I've recently started a keto way of eating and this cookbook is a great resource! I'm looking forward to trying some of the ideas as soon as I can (chia pudding for breakfast tomorrow!). Definitely gives you what you need to get started and with the keto way of eating. Arguably, a little complicated for something with the word beginner in the title. #indigoemployee
This was more than what I bargained for. This book did a great job explaining to a layman, like me, about the background and principles of the keto lifestyle (don't call it a diet). I can see why a lot of people recently have been drawn to adopting this lifestyle. The science behind the right foods to eat is fascinating and seems to make a lot of sense. I, myself, am interesting in trying this out and this is the perfect guide.
You can't a health nut without having hear of the Keto Diet. Everywhere you turn this is the diet everyone is talking this year. We have seen diets from South Beach to Aktins and they work for a time and than everyone starts to gain the weight back.
Why you ask?
To be honest no one should diet you should change your lifestyle towards eating.
I am not on the diet but I am interested in recipes that are healthy and ways to get more veggies in my kids diets.
The pictures are beautiful and it will have readers diving into making these amazing dishes.
The beginning of the book explains in detail the list of carbs that are in different items of food like veggies and fruits. It Explains how much you need each day to live this diet and why it is important to add fitness. Diet is 80 % of weight loss and fitness in only 20% (Depends on what diet book you are reading.)
There is a section in the book for vegetarian and dairy free. Which helps this mom out since all but one of the kids have dairy allergies (Yup very little dairy in this house)
While I live by the my words I don't diet I do understand changing your lifestyle and how to eat to better your health. If you can stick to this diet I am sure there are wonderful out comes but remember be realize to what your, body, mind and lifestyle can do. This isn't a quick fix this is a life style choice.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Fair Winds Press for the advance copy of Martina Šlajerová The Beginner's KetoDiet Cookbook
Why 4 stars (Because it is another diet with pretty pictures.)
I thought this is a wonderful beginners cookbook for keto! It really gives you a lot of great basic information about keto and things I think are really important that aren’t easy to find out about. I loved all the guides on certain foods! It can be especially hard to find out what hidden carbs are in veggies and having a guide to tell you is super helpful when you’re first starting off. I loved the variety of recipes. I thought it was a nice mix of super simple ones and a little bit more complicated ones. I would highly recommend checking this out if you’re starting keto and need a place to start!
Great Keto Cookbook. Plan on starting the keto diet in the next week and have been looking for some good new recipes. Great pictures and easy instruction. A lot of variety in types of recipes. Can't wait to try some of these out!
A very good book about the keto diet. I had very little understanding of Keto before reading but the information provided is excellent and easy to understand.
The recipes all sound amazing as well and is definitely something I would be interested in.
This cookbook is fantastic!
The recipes sound so delicious and the pictures are beautiful! I am so excited to try the recipes in here! The beginning of the book goes into pretty thorough detail about the keto diet and lists carb amounts for many fruits and veggies. While I do not adhere to the keto diet, I was interested in this book for the large number of recipes that do use vegetables in them. There are also categories specified, such as vegetarian and dairy free, which I thought was great.
This cookbook is great not only for those on the Keto diet, but also for those who want to try out some new and unique delicious recipes!!
I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from Fair Winds Press for my unbiased opinion of the book. I enjoyed the recipes of this book, Spicy Chorizo Cloud Eggs, Tomato & Feta Bruschetta, Chicken Parmesan Casserole. The pictures, layout, and font very appealing. I would consult with my doctor before following this book word for word. I would not do this as a diet but pull the aspects of this book that works for me and use it as a guide for healthier living. I cannot wait to try more recipes and really dig into the formulas this book offers!
This has some really great recipes. Some of the ingredients were a bit hard to find and a bit expensive. But, they were good. The taste was there.
This cookbook has a WEALTH of helpful information up front. If you are new to the Keto diet, this is an informational goldmine. There are also many really great recipes in here varying from relatively simple to exotic and complicated. As a beginner cookbook I might have liked to have seen more simple "every day" recipes, but that speaks more to my cooking skills and lack of time than anything else. The pictures are wonderfully tantalizing and there are several droolworthy gems to be found on these pages. Definitely a helpful aid if you're ready to commit to the keto lifestyle!
This is an informative and interesting recipe book. The recipes are brilliant and the photos that accompany them are amazing.
As someone considering starting a Ketogenic way of eating, I found the explanation of how a keto diet works to very interesting and not overcomplicated.
The book contains a comprehensive guide on what foods to avoid and which to eat in abundance, and the recipes definitely help you to feel that you are not missing out.
Overall, a very helpful book for both those starting out on a keto diet and those who are already committed to that way of eating who want some fresh ideas.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing the ARC in return for an honest review.
The author describes what the keto diet consists of and how it can change your body chemistry from “gluten” metabolism to “fat “ metabolism and you will have more energy, feel full after you eat, and have less cravings for fattening foods.
She also goes through the steps and stages of low carb eating so that changing your diet is less of a shock to your system and your body becomes less dependent on carbs.
You are given a list of fruits and vegetables, the recommended serving size, and how many carbs the food contains so that you can keep track of your carb intake.
You are also given a list foods that are high in protein as protein helps you to lose weight.
The author shows how healthy fats are essential to a keto diet, and she gives you the correct fats to use and what types of foods you should use with them.
You are also shown what you may use to sweeten your food, as unhealthy sugars will not help you to stay healthy.
The author gives you lists of foods that contain magnesium and potassium so that you can get most of these supplements naturally.
The author has used icons that show what recipes are vegan, ideal for fasting, high in electrolytes, induction - friendly, nightshade free, nut free, egg free and dairy free so that allergy -causing foods are omitted from your keto diet.
You are given lists of keto-friendly staples such as noodles, rice, nuts, seeds, broth, eggs, pestos, and 12types of flavored butters to keep on hand for frequent usage.

The peanut butter and chia parfaits look delicious and easy to prepare.

These recipes use easily found ingredients, simple kitchen tools, and average cooking skills.
Enjoy becoming healthier and more energetic with this diet. It has everything you need to go on the Keto diet!
I keep thinking this diet should be simple. Then I pick up a book about it. While this is one of the more straightforward, it still has pages of tables. I'd just like to see two things in Keto diet books: 1. a bullet-point summary before giving me tables, and 2. a guide to recipes I might have that could be kept-friendly & how to convert what I have.
But I forgot, the point is to sell more cookbooks.
The recipes here mostly look good and, unlike many Keto cookbooks, they don't avoid meat and dairy. It's fine but it could be more useful.
