Easy Prey by Catherine Lo...Oof! This is one of those YA books that would make an awesome book club book. Class beauty Jenna sends athletic king-of-the-school boyfriend nudes. Those pictures are then plastered all over social media. You'd think the guilty party would be punished, arrested, suspended or something. Nope. Jenna gets all the blame; she should have known better; she's such a tramp; she should be ashamed. And she is...so much so she changes her apperance and is angry with the world. Flash forward a year later. She and two other students get ahold of some compromising pictures of one of their teachers. They delete them and swear they won't tell a soul. However, the next day the pictures are posted all over social media. They each swear they didn't do it. But if they didnt, who did?

Where to start?

I had a hard time rating this book because at times it felt like a 4 star and others a 3 star. I decided on 3 stars because this book lacked depth.

While there are 3 main characters throughout the book, you don't get a chance to discover who they really are. Considering the topic of the book, I would have loved more backstory on Jenna and while we do get a bit of an idea what Mouse's life is like at home, we don't know who he is. Drew is probably the least fleshed out character, which makes all 3 of these characters kind of formulaic.

The writing is good in that it doesn't deviate from where it is going. I like that Lo writes straightforward prose, not too many boring details about things that don't matter.

There is a surprise ending to this book, which, to be honest, I figured out about halfway to the end and its kind of clever, if not a tad unrealistic.

This is not a bad read, but I have no idea the who, where, why, how of these characters, so it was very difficult for me to like or even be invested in their story.

Jenna hasn't been the same since a racy photo of her was posted online a year prior to the narrative - by her boyfriend no less. Mouse just wants to be seen as someone other than a mouse. He's good at writing code and he's been Jenna's best friend for years. Drew thinks Jenna is hotter now than she was a year ago and he would love for people to see him as more than a dumb jock. Into this mix comes an opportunity comes to debate the case digital privacy and the chance to get back at a much disliked teacher. One of these three isn't telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth but which one is it?

All have secrets and all are not who they seem to be - that's the moral to Easy Prey. It would be easy to paint this book with a broad brush, but there is so much more to the secrets and lies theme of Easy Prey. It's also a tale about trust and friendship and what happens when those lines blur.

THIS BOOK!!! Following the story of these three teenagers from different time points leading to a huge scandal had me hooked. The ending threw me for a loop and I can honestly say I didn't see it coming. Gotta love a good twist. Overall this was such an entertaining read but also a very stressful one because I almost feel attached to the characters and I found myself worrying for them.
