I really had a hard time getting into this book as I was unclear as to why the main character was being stalked. Towards the end it was all clear, but if it wasn't for the fact that I was reviewing this book I may have put it down sooner. Towards the middle of the book it all becomes clear as to why the main character is being stalked. At the end of the book, I didn't like the main character very much since this is something I see happen in my line of work a lot. It was a quick read from middle to end, but a struggle from the beginning until the middle. I"m not sure I would recommend this book to my friends.

I very much enjoyed the first half of it but then realized how manipulative the main character was and I did not like her at all by the end of this book! However I would still recommend this book, I am glad to have read it.

No Place Like Home had me reading at all hours of the day I could find time to fit in a few more chapters! You sympathise with the main character from the off, but soon come to have the twisty knowledge we all look for in a good thriller and the whole plot thickens. Clever storyline and thoroughly enjoyed reading in under 48 hours! Will go on to read more by this Author!

No spoilers here means no lengthy review. Just one piece of advice - read this! It was a little slow to get started, but boy does it wallup a punch. I recommend this to anyone who likes a twisty, psychological read.

No Place Like Home is a thriller that will really get under your skin. Don’t be fooled by what you see, this book will take you by surprise. Rebecca Muddiman’s latest novel explores a terrifying scenario that many people may think about but don’t think will ever happen to them. The thought of someone breaking into my house absolutely terrifies me and this is what Rebecca’s protagonist is faced with when the novel begins.

We are introduced to Polly Clarke who has recently moved into her dream home. One evening she returns to her house to find someone else inside, shattering the façade of the idyllic, perfect home she has worked so hard for and dreamed about for so long. She doesn’t know who this person is or what they are doing. Rebecca captured Polly’s fear in a very real and believable way here and you immediately get a sense of how vulnerable she is, especially as she lives alone. But as Polly is facing this new, terrifying predicament we move back in time to see events in the lead up to this day and it is here that the story really becomes interesting.

Rebecca Muddiman really messes with the readers head as we get to know the characters and this is what I really liked about this book and it is what kept me engaged. The pace does slow down a little after the shocking opening – when we move back in time – but as our lead character started to realise she was being stalked, I wanted to know if this was connected to what had happened in the opening pages and I also wanted to know why this was happening to her. Rebecca kept up the suspense as I waited to find out what was going to be the outcome for Polly and she kept me invested in her character.

I was intrigued by both Polly and her stalker, Jacob and as their characters developed and Rebecca revealed their past history my perception of them both began to change. There was some fascinating character development in this book and I felt as though I connected, in some ways, with both of them. This is where it becomes really tricky not to talk much more about the plot here as I don’t want to give anything away. But the direction in which Rebecca took the story caught me by surprise.

Rebecca controls the atmosphere in her story well and this also worked with the reveals about the characters and their lives, it made me think that there were sinister revelations to come and it kept me flicking the pages as I hurried to get to the end and Rebecca delivers an absolutely chilling ending. This is a book which you will want to be pressing into the hands of friends and family. Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for providing me with an advance review copy of the book.

'No Place Like Home' is proof that nothing is ever as it seems. It is also proof that readers automatically side with the person who they deem the weakest leak, or the person who they feel is the 'victim'. Well, it's proof that I did, anyway. The author tells the story of Polly, a woman who, as far as we are made aware, has had a turbulent life so far. Her trust in people is non-existent, and she is fearing for her life due to an unsavoury character from her past reappearing. Polly has tried to rebuild her life and start anew in a new house which she can now call her own. Who wouldn't feel sorry for Polly?

Again, nothing is ever as it seems and Rebecca Muddiman cements that fact time and time again in 'No Place Like Home'.

There were a a couple things in the book which shocked me and made me feel pretty uncomfortable, yet they weirdly tied in with the overall storyline brilliantly - even if my mouth did resemble a desert....

I am very impressed by Muddiman's cleverly crafted storyline, as well as her ability to dangle pieces of information in front of her readers, only to change her mind and the situation rather suddenly. Anytime I thought that I could understand Polly's character, it didn't take long for it to become clear that I actually didn't understand Polly, and to be honest, I don't think I ever would be able to. I'm not complaining either, in fact it raised my curiosity tenfold.

'No Place Like Home' completely funked over my mind. It really did. From start to finish the author had a hold over me, with the only way out being the end of the book. If you're after a book which keeps you guessing, takes you on a rollercoaster ride, AND completely stuffs up your way of logical thinking, then this book is definitely for you. Rebecca Muddiman is a new author for me, but after reading this comprehensive, gripping, and uncomfortable addictive storyline, I can guarantee that this won't be the last book I read of hers either.

So in this story we meet Polly who arrives home to find someone inside her house and this is the start of a very twisty story. It will be quite hard to go into too much detail as it would definitely ruin the surprises that are waiting for you. What I will say is that this story has different timelines so the reader can go back and see how everything started. These little flashes into the past made me even more curious about the present! Some of the transitions could have possibly been a bit smoother but on the whole I think this probably helped to keep me on my toes. Polly's character is very intriguing and I enjoyed how Rebecca Muddiman built up her personality. Along with revealing certain things when I wasn't necessarily expecting them.

I finished this book pretty quickly as the story pulled me in and left me desperate to figure it all out. Some of the actions by the characters were shocking and you certainly wouldn't want to get mixed up with them! The story moves at a good pace and I loved being kept on my toes with some clever twists.

If you liked to be shocked and surprised then No Place Like Home will keep you intrigued until the very last page!

What happens when your dream house turns into your worst nightmare??? Wow this was quite the twisted story! Not even sure how to approach this review, can’t say much otherwise I will spoil this for you...

This book was NOT what I was expecting! It took a turn and it took it pretty early on I did not see coming at all... and you won’t either... therefore this vague review.... The book starts with Polly coming home to her dream house... there is a jump in the narrative between past and present that isn’t always as clear as it could be, and admittedly I did find this confusing at times... we also find out straight away that Polly has a stalker... not saying anything more than that!🤐



A cleverly crafted story that made me feel a little paranoid at times.... these characters were so untrustworthy... I had no idea who to believe and my allegiance was continually shifting.... I do like to get into the mind of crazy so this book definitely did not disappoint when it came to that!

Recommend for fans of a terribly twisty psychological thriller!

I won’t say much without giving anything away but I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Rebecca kept me on my toes the entire time! Polly has her home but what happens when she comes home to find someone inside? Well I recommend everyone grab this book when it releases!

I will be totally honest, the first quarter of this book made me not want to carry on. I found it repetitive and Polly really annoyed me. But then, the twist comes and BAM!!! I was hooked.
Please persevere with it.

Very interesting definitely worth the read and I believe that this will be an author to look out for.

By reading the short blurb, you might think it’s a simple case of an obsessed stalker and Polly trying to shake him off. But it is so much more than that. It took on an unexpected yet welcome turn. It started real strong with Polly coming to find a stranger in her new house and it turns out he’s not a stranger after all. But after that, it started to go slow and becomes a bit confusing as it switches from the present and few weeks before and some instances months before, leading to her acquiring the house. There’s no indication at the start of some chapters to signify if it’s past or present and it can be puzzling. But once I get past that, I was absorbed by Polly’s plight. The story has a steady pace but can be repetitive.

Polly is an unreliable character and I never liked her from the start. I immediately feel there’s something off about her with the way she handled situations and how she interacts with people. And so, it’s easy for me to get an inkling on what’s really going on and was not surprised when I was proved right. As the truth slowly unfolds, it gets more surprising, the character more twisted, and it sucked me in deeper into the story. I was invested despite not liking any of the characters. On the whole, No Place Like Home is a solid psychological thriller and a really good read that fans of the genre might enjoy.

I was delighted to be invited to take part in the blog tour for No Place Like Home as I’ve loved Rebecca Muddiman’s previous novels and so was certain that I would love this one. I’m so happy to say that this was a great read and I was gripped!

No Place Like Home is the story of Polly who has recently moved in to her new home and she is so excited to have a place that is all hers where she can feel cosy and safe. She has quite a dull life working an office job and keeping herself to herself but she’s also coping with her mum being recently moved to a nursing home due to a stroke. She visits her regularly and finds the situation really stressful and tough. On top of this she soon notices that a man keeps standing outside her house and staring in at all hours of the day and she is increasingly annoyed and then unnerved by him. Polly isn’t sure how to handle the situation but then things begin to escalate and she has to do something!

This novel is so twisted! It starts off like I expected it to as we get to know Polly and see how her life is and how she deals with Jacob watching her but as the situation escalates the novel becomes increasingly thrilling. The way this novel goes back and forth in time really heightens the tension as we begin to form a picture of how Polly ended up with Jacob obsessively watching her. I became more and more unnerved as the book went on but I could not put it down! It drew me in and kept me reading until the small hours of the morning because it reached a point where I couldn’t sleep until I knew how this book was going to end.

This is a hard book to review because you’re best going into it not knowing much more than it says in the blurb so I’m keeping this vague on purpose. The main thing you need to know is that this is a brilliant psychological thriller that will keep you on your toes all the way through. It’s a novel that will have you wondering how far you, or someone you might know, would go for what they want! I highly recommend it!

Polly returns home one day to find that someone has been in her house; a chilling prospect by anyone’s standards. We gradually learn exactly who is following Polly, and we live through Polly’s fear and apprehension at what she will be faced with each time she returns home.

2/3 of the way through the book we are presented with quite the plot twist. I enjoyed the twist and really wasn’t expecting it, but at times I felt that it was slightly far-fetched. I’ve read a few psychological thrillers lately that have had promising plotlines, but have been quickly ruined by including very unbelievable details and therefore require too much of a degree of suspended belief, which I had to do with ‘No Place Like Home’. On the whole though I did rather enjoy this book and felt myself eager to rush through the chapters to find out what was going on.

I enjoyed this dark thriller. It is full of plot twists and I did not want to set it down. I wanted to see what Polly would do next.

This is a gripping psychological read with twists that I didn't see coming which I love. I started reading it thinking it was going to be the story of Jacob's obsession with Polly but it was more than that. All Polly wants to do is own her own home but she will do it at any cost,
I really enjoyed it.

No Place Like Home by Rebecca Muddiman was one hell of a ride. Pardon my language. I do not think that I have ever read a book that scared me as much as this one did. Polly seemed like an average woman with average woman issues. However, after she bought a new home everything changed. Someone was there already. The writers ability to keep the pace was to me, beyond anything I was expecting. The plot was great and it did not let up until I finished reading. Even now as I write this review (at 2 A.M.) I am still feeling the aftermath. The ending is not what you would ever think. This was a vey fat paced story that delivers a huge punch. I want to, need to read more by this author.

To be honest, I couldn’t bring myself to finish this book. I wanted to like it, really, but it was just not for me. There was too much repetition and not enough progress to hold my attention. I’d be interested in reading more from this author, because I think she really could be great!

No Place Like Home is a psychological thriller in every single way. Unreliable narrator? Check. Mystery? Check. Drama? Check. Paranoia? Check. Check. Check. It does pull you in quickly, with action right at the very beginning. The format is a little confusing, but if you can get passed that a some other annoying details this is a wild ride, especially towards the end!
In this book we follow Polly, who is in her 30s, and is ecstatic to finally have her first home. That is until she sees someone INSIDE of it that doesn't belong there. This happens within the first couple of pages and then we go back and forth between the past 3ish weeks and the present {which gets HIGHLY confusing sometimes}.

The first half of the book was intense, but annoying... sorry. Polly's CONSTANT internal struggle was killing me. I get it, I do. I am one of those people that over thinks everything and second guesses everything but GOOD GOD. "Did I see him or did I not? I did, I am sure. But what if I didn't? I probably didn't, it's just my mind playing tricks on me.. But what if it wasn't a trick? What if he was there for real? He wasn't there.." like OOOOOHHHH MYY GGOOOSSSH. *those are not real quotes from the book, but you get the idea here.*

Okay so, just around the time I am starting to think, "man, I think I hate Polly. I really hate her, she's so FREAKING ANNOYING". Things get realllll interesting. Not saying I ever really LIKE Polly.. But the book really picks up and comes into its own. I even thought that dang, if the first 30-45% of this book did not exist, I would be TOTALLY loving this. I ended up staying up way passed my bed time to finish the book, because that is how intense things got... which was a complete turn around for me personally.

Without the annoying internal struggle of Polly's paranoia and the odd way that the author chose to format the chapters/time frames the plot was dynamic with some deep psychological shit going on....excuse my french.. And I really appreciate the book ending with a bang rather than starting off really strong and finishing weak. Overall, I did like this book - especially the second half!! And I think you can get it on Kindle unlimited right now for $0!!!
