This book is really great! It's teaching self-care to kids ages 7-12, a skill we all need to know about. I could see this book being used by social workers or parents, but it's not a book you'd just read cover to cover. There are a lot of activities and reflection throughout and would take awhile to work through.

As a mom to a child with Asperger's syndrome and moderate anxiety this book is an excellent tool. I wish it had been around when my son was younger. It teaches children to explore their emotions through terms that are understandable to them. This is a great book for children to learn coping skills when it comes to being upset, boundaries, acting out of frustration, etc.

Highly recommend to any parent or teacher, and most definitely those with neurodiverse children.

Emotional Explorers offers creatives options for dealing with emotions. Skillfully employs an array of techniques such as stories, reflection questions, group activities, and collage art. Children learn to deal with fears, set boundaries, and take risks, among other important self-regulating tasks. Highly recommended!

You had me at Intrepid Treasure Hunter.

In Emotional Explorers, what Conangla and Soler do to open a bridge of communication with young children is just brilliant. The guide they provide is an essential instructional handbook for any caregiver. Talking about emotions can be tricky, it can get difficult for adults to find the right words for the right situation. Talking about emotions can often become very tedious and sometimes embarrassing when children talk to adults.

Emotional Explorers takes the guess work right out and provides readers with a clear path to letting children express themselves by themselves. By working through each of the activities listed, children will gain confidence in their emotions and expressions. Too often children cannot define a feeling and get frustrated by this. This book teaches them how to understand and embrace all the difficulties they can face and helps create a stronger bond with the adults around them.
