Absolutely wonderful crochet book!! Fabulous patterns for more than just rugs! Adorable rugs in the shapes of elephant, giraffe, monkey, crab, and kitten. Also comes with pillow patterns for the same animals. Each one has another pattern, such as a security blanket or book bag, or other items. Very detailed instructions. One of my favorite crochet books so far!! Great pattern designer!

What a perfect book of patterns for keeping your children or grandchildren happy. The book has colorful illustrations, easy to read patterns and a wide variety of animals. From dinosaurs to kittens it includes 20 patterns. Also a primer of how to crochet the stitches in the book along with techniques to keep you crocheting on the neat and perfect path. The nice thing is also not only the rug pattern but pillows or placemats, blankets and more with each animal. I do think buying the hardcopy of the book would probably be better because of the breaking up of pictures and instructions in the digital format. Perfect gift for the crafter on your list. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Some great unique animal rugs and pillows. Although I had a little hard time making one I think it's just my problem. Would be great to make and use these as Christmas or birthday gifts.

I have dabbled ( as I do with most things) in crochet multiple times. My crowning glories were the slightly tight winter hats I made for tons of people last year. When I decided to progress to something more cuddly, the online resources or those of my library did not get me excited about any particular project. Even once I began, the instructions seem to mumble instead of explain themselves to me. I have solely taught myself using books and YouTube so I thought that that must be the reason I was having difficulties progressing to making something more substantial.

When I cracked this book open( figuratively, since this is an advance reviewer's e-copy with an expiration date on it) I was delighted with the tons of instructions provided. Each of the designs comes as a set, a bag/rug/doll/blanket version of some very cute looking animals. After a cursory surfing through it,I concluded that this would be a book well worth keeping around for projects for both home and for gifting ( if they come out as good as they look in the pictures, I do not think I would have the heart to part with them). Even further reading of the book did nothing to change that opinion. I intend to get my own copy once I set up a time for me to crochet in!

This is a great book for those crocheting crafting types who want to jazz up a nursery or small child's bedroom with a cute cushion or rug or a book bag.
There are 7 designs to choose from: panda, dinosaur, elephant, giraffe, crab, cat and monkey.

The cushions being in two different shapes and start off using the same base patterns which are provided at the rear of the book. The patterns appear easy enough to follow, though sometimes more than one strand is required as the rows are done.

There are helpful tables included for stitch terminology and conversions into UK hook sizes.

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review.

Crochet Animal Rugs by Ira Rott features crochet patterns not just for rugs but also for an assortment of matching accessories. The book includes both row by row directions and charts. The in progress pictures included are helpful to see how the finished projects go together. The pictures of the finished projects make me want to do every project included in the book. It is hard to choose a favorite, but I am partial to Sassy the Kitty Cat. The projects are rated by skill level which is helpful for new crocheters. Any of the projects included would make a wonderful gift for the children in your life!

What a great book!! Patterns for any skill level of crochet. There is a wide variety of items and animals. This book also contains step by step instructions along with pictures to show your progress. It would be very beneficial to get a paper copy of this book since there is so many stitches and pictures. You could get a magnet and board to place on either side to get the project done easier.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

A beautiful well crafted book with 20 patterns for creating animal rugs, pillows and other decorations for a child's room. There are elephants, monkeys , giraffes, kitties and triceratops patterns to crochet adorable rugs. There is a wealth of step by step instructions photographs and diagrams to help even a beginner at crocheting accomplish these crafts. After the patterns are presented there is a section which clearly demonstrates each type of stitch used in the patterns. Photographs also detail how to block patterns and prepare for use and how to attach backing to the rugs to keep them secure on the floor. Patterns are detailed by both stitch by stitch instructions but are also graphed out in a stitch pattern. These grafts make it easy to see exactly what stitch goes where. This is a very impressive book. There is a great deal of research and development that went in to creating the patterns in this book.

Crochet Animal Rugs Over 20 Crochet Patterns for Fun Floor Mats and Matching Accessories by Ira Rott
What I like about this book right off the bat are the colors, shapes and other added bonuses throughout the book.
Starts with a table of contents where each animal shape has it's own section and added projects to make.
Book then starts with an introduction about how you can use this book to decoate your space.
Color photos along the way.
Skill levels are discussed and many tips are highlighed as the porjects go on.
Size and gauge, patterns, charts, tools, charts of converstions, yarn choice, other equipments, linign for rugs, wall hangings.
Each animal starts with a title along with a summary of the items and what colors were used.
After the title, there is a skill level, color photo of all the items in this section then the technical parts: finished size, hook, yarn weight, strands used, gauge with 3 strands, stitch summary, skills, left hand crochet instructions.
Yarn and amounts you will need ti laid out in a chart. Directions start by telling you how many strands to use and what color and hook size.
Each part of the animals has very easy to follow instructions. Diagrams are shown as you need them with details.
Charted instructions are also shown if you perfer to use that method vs. row by row instructions.
Good charts showing how to assemble the animal. Other projects with the same animal theme area slo given. Some include a pillow, stool cover, security blanket, placemat, toy bag, book bag.
Other technical information is provided: crochet terms, abbrevaiations, other useful information about working with 3 strands, weaving in ends, etc.
About the author, thanks nad list of suppliers is also provided. Tables of measuements for hook and yarn weights: US, UK, Austr, per 100g.
What I also like are the charts for describing and working the stitches: it shows the abbrevation name, symbol used in charts, description in US terms and some actually show you how to make them with pictures. Such a great resource.
I think my favorite would be the crab because of the bright color and I live in New England.
There are 7 animal shapes but so much more with different accessories for them all. Everything is so well detailed with pictures, diagrams and instructions anybody should be able to complete all the projects.
Received this review copy from F+W Media via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.

Some really cute crotchet projects. I think I will be very busy this summer, indeed! My best project was the ‘elephant rug. The detail and pattern was very interesting.

These may be some of the cutest patterns I've ever seen! I liked that there was a wide variety of complementary patterns per animal, and they all seem to fit the theme well. I wish there had been a fox, or a way to fit these in my adult bedroom. For kids rooms however, these will go great. I could easily see making one or all of a set as a baby gift. The patterns are on a beginer friendly level, and are approachable for any one familiar with basic stitches. Very cute!

The patterns in this book are adorable and with a little practice I feel even a beginner could feel confident in making one of them. I personally am excited to make the dinosaur set for my nieces. I liked that this book took the time to further breakdown individual parts of the designs like the eyes and bows. This book will make a great gift for anyone that loves to crochet, especially ones with kids in their family.

Thank you NetGalley and F+W Media for an early release copy of this.

Ira Lott really took her care in setting out easy to follow instructions with amazing charts and pictures to go with them. She was also kind enough to included some basics in the back for anyone new to crochet or new to getting back into crochet.
I have dug into my yarn stash and tried a couple of the patterns.

The Monkey Pillow:
This pattern was mega easy and I able to finish the pillow in the course of a weekend. I love working in the round with crochet, so I was really excited that she had so many circular patterns.
I'm sure my nephew is gonna love it!!!

The Crab Rug:
This one was a little less exciting of a pattern buuuuut we needed a new rug for the bathtub.
This one too was well broken down, clearly described and had amazing charts!
I love when a crochet book not only included pictures of the final product, but progress photos as well so you can make sure it's turning out right before you've finished.

There are so many cute patterns I can't wait to try the rest!
Some of the patterns are advanced but there are lots of easy ones to start with so anyone can pick this up and get some super adorable animal accessories.

This is absolutely beautiful book, fabulous ideas and great instructions - both in chart form or written. I could not choose a favourite, all the animals featured are absolutely gorgeous, and child would be absolutely thrilled to have one of these items in their bedroom.

Crocheters around the globe will be readying their hooks on August 7th!

Ira Rott has created some of the most adorable and cuddly crochet animal rugs, perfect children and adults alike.

There are elephants, crabs, monkeys, and more. Plus, Rott includes patterns for coordinating accessories so that you can create an adorable themed room from your very own handmade items.

It doesn't get much better than that! I feel like many crafters feel the most accomplished when they can see the fruit of their labor - at least I do!

I've already got a few projects on my list as baby shower gifts - I can't wait to get some new yarn, too.

The pictures are fabulous and the instructions provided are crystal clear. There are written patterns as well as diagrams, for those who are more visual.

As a bonus, I have now discovered an amazing crochet pattern designer that I will be following for new projects. Check out Rott's website; she has a shop with quirky crochet, knit, and quilt patterns for sale (and some for free!).

This is such an original and beautiful book! I was not expecting the patterns to be so gorgeous, but you certainly don’t need to be a kid to enjoy using the rugs and other items in this book. The directions are incredibly detailed, with lots of pictures of the works in progress. The animals are absolutely adorable and include Jeffery the Elephant, Rusty the Giraffe, Sassy the Kitty Cat, Rock n Roll Panda, Chip the Monkey, Cranky the Crab and Tops the Dinosaur. Each animal has three projects; a rug for each and additional projects like pillows, security blankets, toy bags and a placemat. One off the neatest bonuses of this book is a tutorial for making any of the rugs into crochet wall art. If a colorful rug is not your style, you can use crochet thread to make any of the rugs into a solid color miniature which you can then frame and hang your wall. I am absolutely doing this! There is a detailed technique section at the back of the book of crochet techniques, sewing stitches and instructions for adding a non slip lining to the bottoms of your rugs. A gem of a book! Highly recommended!
I received an arc of this book via netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I can feel a project coming on!

This is a beautifully illustrated book of animal-themed crochet projects, ideal for decorating a child's bedroom. Choose from Jeffrey (or Josefina) the elephant, Rusty the Giraffe, Sassy the Cat, Rock 'n' Roll Panda, Chip the Monkey, Cranky the Crab or Tops the Dinosaur, and for each one there is a floor rug, a cushion/pillow and one other accessory. The accessories include things like book bags, a stool cover and security blankets. Out of the 7 animals there is not one single dud - they are all gorgeous. The difficulty might be choosing which one to start with.

And that's where the book comes into its own, with pages and pages of extra useful information and guidance. The patterns have a 3-level skill grading; beginner, moderate and challenging. Although none of the patterns are graded for beginners (most are moderate and some challenging), I'd say a determined beginner would be able to follow the additional support materials to produce a decent result on a moderate project. How awesome!

So what are these materials? The author has included general things like terminology conversion (from US to British), hook and yarn weight conversion, reading patterns and charts, and advice for left-handers. More specific guidance is also included in terms of crochet techniques like how to actually make the different stitches (with diagrams), how to change colours, starting, finishing, and sewing stitches for putting the projects together.

At the project level you can choose whether to follow the pattern (i.e. written instructions) or the chart. Elements that might be a little tricky have additional diagrams so you can see what to do. Anyone who has some experience with amigurumi crochet will find these patters quite straightforward, I think. But I should point out that although I have read through some of the patterns, I have not actually tested any of them for accuracy. They do read as being accurate though.

A lovely book.
