I love when Cynthia Eden writes Paranormal Romance, and this heroine was pretty sassy. Her heroines usually aren’t, so this was extra awesome. (her heroines are always smart, strong, enjoyable heroines, but sassy isn’t a word I’d typically associate with them). Josephine was pretty badass on top of it.
So Josephine. Super awesome vampiress, also paranormal assassin. Luke, now the ruler of the light things, calls her up to him. He has an angel who fell and Luke wants her to get him. But for a first time, he doesn’t want her to kill this target. Strictly capture and retrieval only. She has 48 hours to get him and drag his butt back upstairs before he becomes a true fallen angel who can’t come back.
But things never go to plan, do they?
Malik, formerly an angel, recently fallen, doesn’t want to go back. He’s rather enjoying all the sin Sin City can show him. And then there’s Josephine. He’s wanted her for centuries, but he’s never been more than a shadow in her life. Angels can’t interfere.
And here she is, in the flesh, and here he is in the flesh…and ready to sin. But someone is targeting Josephine’s angel, and she doesn’t like to share. He’s her bounty, he’s her angel. She isn’t letting some unknown take him out before she can drag him up to Luke.
This story went in a very different direction than I’d thought it would and I loved every twist and turn. The characters were exciting and fresh, the feel to this whole series has been one I love, and this book makes an excellent addition to the Bad Things series. There’s the possibility of another couple being set up, so if Ms. Eden ever comes back to this series, I’ll be right here, ready to read it. You should too.

Josephine Saint is an assassin for the now Light side Luke. She has been working for him for the last 200 years and her final mission is to hunt down a fallen angel Malik. Only when she gets there Malik hasn't fallen yet, but will because she is his obsession. Luke knows that she is the only one that can help him and runs another one of his schemes.
After people that help Josephine start dying they are hunting for the killer, but Luke and Leo think that Malik is a threat to them. When Malik does fall he has some interesting new powers that no one is sure how to control, until she sees him getting new powers and knows exactly what happened.
Malik and Josephine are a great couple and who would think that a fallen angel and a vampire would make a good couple? When things started getting hairy they were there for each other and were able to take down the threat and help another fallen angel find his love in the process. I can't wait to read about Merius and Celeste.
4.5stars
A great love story between fallen angel and vampire. I loved how bit by bit of Malik and Josephine past/life was reviled. I loved it that the story was not predictable. Josephine was my type of heroine although we can say she was for time to time more villain. She was a badass girl who could fight and had her priorities straight. Malik was also great character his love toward Josephine was really strong and pure. The story was unpredictable, with suspense, action, and mystery.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
Cynthia Eden does it again! OK, I was wrong in my last review of a book in this series, THIS is my favorite book. LOL I totally enjoyable read, with moments where you can cheer for your favorite character and or want to knock some sense into them. LOL
Cynthia Eden rocks her paranormal romances!
Cynthia Eden never fails to delight with her paranormal romances and Saint or Sinner is a winner. Excellent overall.
Im pretty sure this is one of Cynthia Edens funnest and most romantic books I have read. I loved it so much i went back and reread the while series again. Cynthia is by far one of my favorite authors.
This is an incredibly well written paranormal romance with an excellent story line. Cynthia Eden is one of my favorite authors. I have not ever been disappointed by any book I have ever read by her. I am wholeheartedly recommending this book!
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am leaving my honest opinion.
Josephine is a Vampire and basically works as an Assassin. When a paranormal has gone rogue and is a danger she is sent to eliminate the problem. Once she has fulfilled her duty she will be free. Her last assignment is a fallen angel...one who will change her life.
Malik is the fallen angel and he took the fall for a very special reason. From the first time he ever saw Josephine he has felt that she was meant to be his and he will do whatever needed to win her heart.
Both these characters are tough and hard, no emotions rule here. Josephine is shocked with herself when she realizes he has become special to her, she doesn't really understand. Malik just knows she is his...
Danger follows them though and they finally figure out that Josephine is the target, not Malik.
Who can it be?
I admit that this author is one of my favorites. I have read many of her books and always look forward to the next one. This was not one of my favorites. While it has plenty of action with Jo being a kick-ass kind of girl I didn't really like the ending.
I have to say though that there is a great cast of characters and I wouldn't hesitate to read their stories! I haven't changed my opinion on the author either, she rocks!
I haven’t read any other books in this series. Although this book can stand alone I believe I would have enjoyed it more knowing more background information. I will definitely be reading more books by Cynthia Eden. I look forward to meeting more of her characters.
SAINT OR SINNER is the eighth book in Cynthia Eden's Bad Things paranormal romance series. Josephine Saint is part vampire, part Fey, and a whole lotta woman. Josephine's mission is to bring the delectable fallen Angel, Malik, in -- dead or alive. Usually, she takes out her targets more permanently, but Malik is special and worms his way into Josephine's heart. Cynthia reigns supreme when it comes to weaving together unlikely romances between characters who might ordinarily be enemies, and SAINT OR SINNER is a wild ride full of torrid trysts and unique characters.
The chemistry between Josephine and Malik is electric. Malik has a lot of fab bad boy characteristics with a sprinkling of yummy angel goodness mixed in. Try as hard as she may, Josephine finds this hero irresistible. She goes from taking to take Malik down to protecting him from their enemies. Cynthia writes phenomenal "love on the run" stories and this is no exception. Since they're trying to run from certain baddies, as well as seeking other enemies out to destroy, the intensity in this romance is ratcheted up a few notches. SAINT OR SINNER balances sensuality at its finest with great storytelling.
The cast of villains in SAINT OR SINNER is a large one, but Cynthia Eden keeps the story running along smoothly without getting bogged down by minutia that doesn't advance the story. If anything, the many weird and wonderful secondary characters in SAINT OR SINNER are a treat. Luke the newly installed Lord of the Light and his twin Leo the equally new Lord of the Dark often pop up at inconvenient moments for this couple. Of the two, Leo is usually the bigger buzzkill. Luke gets involved in Josephine and Malik's business, but generally tries to help rather than act as a roadblock to romance. They Fey make an appearance in SAINT OR SINNER and are predictably wily and varying degrees of trouble. And, oh yeah, throw in some ornery coyote shifters to start. No matter what comes their way, and what big bad is after them, Malik and Josephine can't stay away from each other.
Cynthia Eden makes monsters sexy once again! There are so many fascinating secondary characters in SAINT OR SINNER. I love the beginnings of a bromance between Dorrin the rogue werewolf cop and the fallen angel vamp Merius. I'm not sure whose story I'm more excited to read next and delve back into this world.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Hocus Pocus Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is number 8 in a series. I have not read any of this series. This was a book that reads well as a stand alone. Maybe a little confusing at first as you don't know the players or the world but it's a quick catch up. The main characters are fantastic. Malik a fallen angel, and Josephine a vampire and assassin. They are a great pair! Chemistry off the chart. Both are strong, and interesting, and don't play by the rules. Great read. I think most paranormal romance readers would enjoy. I rate this a 4.5.
This book is classic Cynthia Eden. Bad girl, bad boy--but they're vamps and angels. I love the premise of the fallen angel who needs redemption--this had the twist of it being from a vampire. If you like the authors other books, do not skip this one.
Saint or Sinner by Cynthia Eden
Bad boy cravings? Angels are the new bad boy…
Ms Eden wins again with this twisted tale of what is good and bad. Superiorly written characters take the reader through some expected and unexpected twists in this wonderful book. Breaking preconceived ideas of what is expected from a book revolving about a vampire and an angel, this is an exciting dip into the paranormal romance genre.
I thoroughly enjoyed the interplay between characters, the humour and the romance. A book I would highly recommend to anyone who likes the sound of the book’s description.
Expertly written and brilliant to read! Just, great!
Love Cynthia Eden's Bad Things Novel series. They are a must read. Josphine has one more mark before she is Free. Capture a fallen angel. The fallen angel fell for a purpose. That purpose was Josphine.
I am absolutely loving The Bad Things series.
Josephine is basically the hit man (woman) for Luke who rules the light now but once ruled the dark. Her next, and thankfully last assignment before she can gain her freedom, is to hunt down and retrieve a fallen angel. She has a certain amount of time to get the job done or the retrieval mission will then be a kill mission as the fallen angel threatens the very world we live in.
Malik has a weakness, an obsession, a reason for his fall. At all cost he must protect his Josephine. Through centuries he has had to stand idly by as he watch death knock at her door and was completely incapable of doing anything about it. Living in the shadows is not conducive to protecting the woman that has transfixed you and therefore, he has taken the one step that will give him what he needs to do so. There will be no returning.
Each of these characters have their secrets, as well as pasts, that are out to not only break them apart but to destroy their very lives. Together, they begin to unravel one evil plot, one evil plan at a time until their own soulless existences are exposed to each other.
I loved this couple and their crazy, maddening manner of dealing with not only what was exploding all around them, but within themselves and with each other. Josephine is one tough vamp. Friends are pretty much instruments she uses to get her job done. Love is something she gave up on long ago. All she wants is to be free. While I loved Josephine, I couldn’t get enough of Malik. Having just fallen, there was a bit of naivety to him except when it came to his Josephine. He spoke a lot of times in simple sentences which were more than adequate to get his point across as most of them amounted to, “My Josephine!” He didn’t grunt, but his character certainly had that vibe to it and that’s one thing I love about my heroes. Malik was completely, totally, over the top jealous, possessive and protective of his Josephine and that fact was proven numerous times throughout the story. Gah! I loved him!
This is action packed with one secret or diabolical plan after another being revealed. There was no down time as amazing secondary characters enter and exit adding more drama, action and information to the story. The steam between Malik and Josephine could be compared to the very hellfire that threatens them at one point, as it is eternal and all consuming. The ending as always made me happy, leaving me content in the knowledge this couple have their happy ever after, even as it sets us up for the next couple.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
5 - "You just can't trust anyone these days." Stars!
We return to Cynthia Eden’s Bad Things universe with the eighth book; Saint or Sinner giving us Josephine Saint’s story, a very bad thing is ever there was one!
The woman was a monster straight to her core…
I devoured this book, and although I have loved all of the releases from this series, Saint or Sinner is definitely up there as one of my favorites. Fallen-angel Malik was the perfect growly, over-protective alpha that I have come to associate with the author and her men from this series and in her writing in general, and put together with bad-ass vampire Josephine this was a couple whose story I adored.
"You have hunted my dreams for so long that I’ve gone mad for you…"
As you would expect from a PNR/Romantic Suspense title from this author, the twists and turns are plenty, the inclusion of dark and light in brothers Leo and Luke Thorne guarantees that, and I am so looking forward to future books coming from this series.
"She’s mine… and I am hers."
Particularly Celeste, Josephine’s sister who has her own Alpha waiting to claim her (who we were introduced to in this book), and I am betting his attempts at getting her to remember him are going to make for another absolutely stellar read when it’s released.
"You with me..?"
"…Always"
Josephine is a vampire assassin who always gets her man (or woman) depending on her assignment. She has one last job to do according to her contract then she's free. She has to capture fallen angel, Malik. Malik has been watching Josie for years and will do anything to keep her safe. Of course they both have enemies who want them dead so it's a full time job. Great paranormal romance!
This is the first of this series I have read but I will definitely be going back to read the others! This story is a great blend of twists, humor, and steamy romance. I loved the characters and the plot. I love a bada$$ female and alpha male combo and this one hits the mark.
The Bad Things Series is continuing so, so well with Saint Or Sinner. Cynthia Eden has written a hit of a series that shows it can stay fresh and interesting, need I say addictive even after seven previous books. There are no creatures that she won’t tackle to give the reader their story.
Josephine Saint is a vampire which is not uncommon in paranormal books, but she is also a killer assassin. I thought that Valeria may be the big and bad female out there, but Josephine is a tie for that title. Malik, well, you should read the book to see what he is capable of doing, along with the way to stop that from happening. The character development is remarkable. Intriguing, compelling read in a series that is like the potato chip commercial, you can’t just read one. Too, too satisfying.
I received an advanced reader copy to leave an honest review of this book. I LOVED this one!! I would highly recommend. I have been reading the books slightly out of order (I read books 1-3 first and then this one) and found there were some spoilers from previous books but nothing major. It honestly just makes me want to go back and get through the remaining books I have missed so far.
This book is about Josephine, a vampire assassin who has some serious secrets that she doesn't share, and Malik, a seriously bad@ss angel who is willing to fall and lose his wings to right some wrongs and protect Josephine. Josephine made a deal with the head baddie of the "dark things" that has been in effect for two centuries. Her final task is to return the soon to be fallen Malik before he becomes fully fallen or kill him once he does fully fall. What Josephine doesn't know is that Malik has been watching her from the shadows for most of those two centuries and has fallen to help protect her from danger. Both are keeping secrets from each other and have their own agenda. Will Josephine turn Malik over, kill him if he falls, or be the only one who can save him and love him? At the same time, can Malik save Josephine from the danger she herself cannot see?
There are so many twists and turns in this book but they all tie together so well. You also get to see a lot of the characters from previous books plus there are some new characters introduced that I cannot wait to read their stories.
