Game Theory is a somewhat entertaining comedy of manners. Across a period of years our four protagonists play a series of games and behave quite badly towards one another. The novel is good on how couples make assumptions about one another instead of opening up.
The characters aren't very sympathetic but they do feel realistic. In life, people who misbehave don't always get their comeuppance. The standard of parenting in the book is very low, and no couple tries very hard to make their marriage work.
