This book sounds so good! And I'm super excited to read more of it. It grabs you, feeds you little bit of information and gives you a bit of a shock factor. An interesting taking on crime fiction.

Agh, I didn't realise this was a sampler and now I'm DESPERATE to read more! Glad to have had this snippet at least, consider my appetite whetted.

I hadn't realised that this was a sampler when I requested it (teach me to read properly!), but now I'm definitely interested in reading the whole book. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder focuses on Pippa who is doing her EPQ (Extended Project Qualification - this took me right back to when I did mine, complete with all the same forms!) on the murder of school girl Andie Bell, that happened five years ago.

Everyone thinks that Sal Singh did it. But Pippa isn't so sure and she wants to use her project to argue in Sal's defence. The writing was smooth and engaging, the characters well-written and the plot was compelling.

I received a copy of a sample of this upcoming novel by Holly Jackson from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I wasn't quite sure what this sample was going to entail upon request but I can happily say that this snippet is brilliant.

The story is told from the perspective of an adolescent girl who investigates the case of missing teenager Andie Bell five years prior and was never solved.

Jackson should be praised for her winning combination of research, structure and overall upbeat tone despite the subject matter explored.

The only issue I found is that I struggled to discover who Pippa the narrator is as a character and what her true motives are for investigating the disappearance of Andie other than finding out the truth. I felt like Pippa needed a bit more intrigue to behind her thought process.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the sample provided and look forward to the full release of this YA novel in May 2019 where hopefully I get to understand Pippa better.

Thank you, really enjoyed this sampler!

I like the premise, Pippa's narration - including a couple of funny moments - and its unique set-up. It is a bold and original idea to have a student doing her A-level project on such a shocking chain of event - in the vein of a YA Serial or Making a Murderer.

I liked Holly Jackson's writing style and am really keen to read more from Pippa and to see what comes next for her, Andie and Sal.

It was a very intriguing sampler that left me wanting more! And I can't really wait until May, it's too long :(

I saw a lot about this book whilst I was at YALC but didn't manage to grab an ARC - but I still jumped at the chance to read the sampler when it became available on here. This book sounds like it's going to be simply amazing.
I'm getting One of Us is Lying vibes - a YA/ Teen mystery and from the short extract I read, this is going to be a book that keeps us guessing. Rather than an open case, this one is very much closed, but one student doesn't believe the "murderer" really did it.
I like the vibe I get from the main character, Pippa, she seems like she will be strong, brave, and inquisitive. I particularly like that she is both interested enough, and brave enough, to be digging into this mystery for a school project - dangerous territory if you want a good grade.
The sampler was just too short and I need to know more! I can't wait until this is released. Only 9 months to go...

I am looking forward to read the book itself, a very intriguing sampler, leaving me a desire to read it!

Can't wait for the book itself!

What a great start. My only disappointment was it was only a sample and not the whole book. Can’t wait to read the book and find out the answer to all my questions. Did Sal do it? Is she even dead? Can a teenage girl find out things police have missed?

Oh my goodness! I need to know what happened to Andie and Sal!!! What was in the text to Sals dad? Does Pip find out the truth?!?
I NEED TO READ THE REST OF THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Pippa Fitz-Amobi has to do a project for school and she chooses to investigate the murder of local girl Andi Bell. Andi was killed five years ago and everyone thinks that it was Sal Singh that commited the crime.

After reading the sampler I'm really intrigued to see what happens next.
I liked the writing style and felt that the author did a good job in laying foundations and hooking my attention and interest. I want to find out more about Pippa and what secrets she uncovers in her investigations.
I'm definitely planning to pick up a finished copy of this book.

Why is it the samplers are always the best? I’m hooked already and now there’s a long, long wait!

Right from the start the author grabbed my attention with the excerpts from notebooks and official documents and the protagonists studious yet hilariously naive commentary. I feel like this could be a rollercoaster of emotions but already I feel like the characters will be painted brilliantly. I hope it lives up to the first few pages, that she finds the answers she is looking for and doesn’t upset the families too much!

(I read a NetGalley Sampler of this novel)

I love the way this is structured, interspersing sections of Pip's dissertation write-up with her investigations. The mystery seems interesting and I'm already eager to know what really happened, with plenty of interesting information and characters dropped in the first few pages. Definitely will be checking out the main book to see what happened!

I have really enjoyed reading this sampler and I am really excited for the Book to be published in March next year. I met the author at YALC and she was very lovely and the sampler so far has piqued my interest.

“We dare you to put it down” states the tagline on the cover of the two chapter sampler. Believe me, I’m gutted I can’t meet that challenge. It’s short, but very effective and I already have so many questions and theories that I need more information to be certain.
There was already a buzz at YALC about this book and even from the pages I’ve had the privilege to read, I can tell this is going to be the big book for next summer.

I have seen SOOOOOOOOO much about this YA debut on my Twitter feed recently, mainly because so many of the authors I follow were raving about it and desperate for proofs at YALC. So when I saw a sampler was available for A Good Girl's Guide to Murder on NetGalley, I clicked 'request' immediately and did a little scream when the email of approval came though.

Five years ago, Andi went missing. Her boyfriend, Sal, was the main suspect, and as he killed himself after his friends told police he asked them to lie for him, there's no way to know for sure. But Pip, doing her Extended Project Qualification in school, wants to investigate what happened - how social media affected the reporting of it, and if Sal was really to blame.

The sampler only included the first two chapters, but God, it was a strong start to a book. I was immediately hooked. Yes, I'm interested in the crime, the mystery, the tragedy of Andi and Sal, but I think the format of the book is also really different. First off, I have never heard anyone mention Extended project in YA before (maybe because, as it was in my school, no one gave a shit and everyone dropped it?) but also, it gives a good switch from third person narrative, to first person in her project log. The addition of phone conversation transcripts, emails, Facebook post images etc really breaks up the text and makes it that little bit more interesting.

I also love the cast so far - you have Pip, her Nigerian step father and brother, Sal and his family who I can see being really interesting characters in this mystery.

So, like I said, a really strong opener, but with only two chapters there's not much more I can say about it. It normally takes me a bit longer to feel fully submerged in a story though, so shout out to this for making it so easy and doing it to quickly, yet so well!

I'm just really excited to read more, okay? And after all the hype at YALC I kind of expected it to be out soon - BUT IT'S NOT??? It's out in May?? NEXT YEAR!

I cannot. Electric Monkey - any chance of any ARC's before then??

Absolutely hooked by this sampler!
The Good Girls Guide to Murder sounds like it’s going to be an absolute must for fans of the podcast serial and any sort of mysterious murder cases.
I can’t wait to pick myself up a copy on its release next year.

This was only a sampler of the book to come but from what I have read, I would definitely be interested in reading the full book when it becomes available. I think it may be aimed at a slightly younger audience than myself but I'm not averse to reading young adult books if they have a bit of mystery or a good plot. This one is fairly intriguing from the sample.
