A true winner for Alison James! Even tops Detective Rachel Prince #2 !

This time, Rachel is sent to LA via Washington, DC. A "20-something" UK national was murdered in Los Angeles so her department in London is involved. Murdered is Phoebe Stiles -she was in the states on a temporary work visa.- found in a dumpster. The body was there for 4-6 weeks according to the coroner!

In DC, Rachel met with Rob - Interpol, and very handsome (thinks Rachel), and they begin to work together.

Now in LA, Rachel meets with the local police (who, for the most part - are not too keen on sharing).
But wait! Phoebe was in a shampoo commercial less than 3 weeks ago! ? Now, Rachel starts thinking "outside of the box" while the LAPD are wanting to tie up the case. (Pinning it on Phoebe's ex-boyfriend, Matt). Rachel digs deeply and finds that another case was quite similar. Maybe more - bringing this to serial killer status ?

Rachel returns to London but the unfinished business in LA is driving her mad. She takes 7 vacation days, and she (with Rob) travel to San Francisco and up the west coast. He has to leave - but a budding romance may be in the works...
Det. Brickall figures less prominently in this book, yet he does work with Rachel on a human trafficking case.

The targeted women sort of physically resemble each other:"entitled", pretty, "mean" girls. Rachel parts with Rob (his daughter's birthday) for now. Meanwhile, Rachel runs around the US searching lead after lead; tattoo parlors, CasaMia rentals, prison, homes of relatives and classmates of possible DNA 25% matches. Finally, to the "lovely" Harland Rowe. It gets confusing - so many alias' are used! How does Rachel keep up? A family tree, for one...

The reader and Rachel realize how smart Harland Rowe is, and eventually Rachel is captured twice by her.

The rest of the book is a spoiler and I can't say anything more except - MUST READ. Even if you have not read the first two books; you can easily read as a standalone. I highly suggest that you do not miss this one!!!

(Hopefully, a book #4?)

Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a brilliant read!

Perfect Girls by Alison James is the 3rd book in the Detective Rachel Prince series and it is a very well written novel that is sure to keep you enthralled from the first page until the last one. Detective Rachel Prince is tasked with traveling to America to help investigate a young English woman named Pheobe Stiles’s death. It was believed that she had been dead for weeks. Then another woman’s body was found dead. Strange things start to happen such as, Stiles social media pages begin to have new posts appearing on them. Detective Prince thinks that this may be the work of a serial killer and she is rarely wrong. t Detective Prince believes they are wrong and she was going to do her best to prove it. James has a knack for keeping the details and descriptions to a minimum and yet still providing enough that the reader can see the whole picture. This is a fast paced read with plenty of twists and turns to keep you wanting more. I read this one until 2 am before I finally stopped for bed. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you to the author as well as netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

When Detective Rachel Prince received the call in her home town of London, she was quite excited to be heading to the US to help with the apprehension of the killer of Phoebe Stiles, a young English girl who had ventured to Hollywood to make her name in the acting world. Phoebe had been dead for some weeks, it had been ascertained – but then another young woman’s body was found. Rachel was positive there was a serial killer; her gut instincts were rarely wrong. But when the LAPD arrested a person, and declared the case closed, Rachel knew they were wrong – proving it was another thing.

Back and forth between London and the US until she finally took leave to work the case on her own time – Rachel was determined to catch the killer as the death count was rising. With a little assistance in the US, Rachel knew she was close. But would she get close enough? Or would she get TOO close?

Perfect Girls is the 3rd in the Detective Rachel Prince series by Alison James, and another fast-paced and gritty thriller which meant the pages pretty much turned themselves. There were times when I wanted to shake Rachel; then there were my gasps of horror at her lack of good judgement – I wasn’t sure how she’d end up! An excellent thriller, Perfect Girls is highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for my honest review.

Another fabulous installment of the DI Prince series. A bit lacking on interaction with Bricknall (which was disappointing) but a great read none the less!

Perfect Girls by Alison James is the 3rd in the Detective Rachel Prince Series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books):
DI Rachel Prince is a Detective with the NCA (National Crime Agency), which includes Interpol, so she is often sent to other countries to investigate or liaise with their police forces. She has recently been divorced (although they had been separated for 17 years), and she has also recently met her son Joe, who she gave up for adoption as a newborn. Her romantic relationships with men are ridiculous. She works with DS Mark Brickall, who seems to be rather flippant about his job, but I think he would easily risk his life for her.

My Synopsis:
Rachel has her DCI promotion assessment coming up, but when the opportunity to go to California to liaise with the local police on a case arises, she jumps at the chance. Apparently a young woman from the UK was found dead under suspicious circumstances.

She meets with the Washington, DC Interpol agent to go over the case, and then it’s off to Los Angeles, where the family of UK born Phoebe Stiles has landed, and they want some answers. When Rachel finds another similar case in San Diego, she starts looking for things to link the two victims. Although the L.A. police quickly arrest Phoebe’s boyfriend, Rachel doesn’t think he committed the crime. Eventually she is called back to England, but she can’t get the case out of her mind. When her boss refuses to let her go back to the States, she takes time off work and goes on her own. Criss-crossing the country, Rachel is finding more clues, and keeps getting closer to the perpetrator…until she gets too close.

My Opinions:
Each book in this series gets better. Although I’m not impressed with Rachel’s choice in men, she is starting to grow on me. She’s a little headstrong, and refuses to back down, even when ordered. I am also starting to like Mark Brickall, as I see, in this book in particular, that his heart is in the right place. The author is developing her characters quite well.

This was a really fast paced book, and a quick read. The plot was good, and everything held together well.

I am definitely looking forward to the next in the series!

This is the third novel featuring Detective Rachel Prince and they are all worth reading. In this case Detective Prince is called to America to help with the death of a British woman who has been found murdered. Phoebe was trying to make it in the entertainment industry when she is found dead. The problem is that she has been dead for weeks but someone has been contacting her parents as her on social media. Then a second body is found, what is going on? Prince follows the clues and the mystery unfolds.
This was a great third instalment and I can’t wait for book four.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC

Detective Rachel Prince returns with a fast paced transatlantic crime thriller in this novel, Book 3 in the series. This is probably her most dangerous yet most important case as a member of the National Crime Agency which liaises with other international police investigators. She becomes involved when Phoebe Stiles’ body is found rotting in a skip. Phoebe is in the States trying to forward her promising career by getting a break in the drama wonderland of the USA. Rachel jets off to the west coast and joins the team dedicated to finding Phoebe’s killer. She is tenacious, determined and works conscientiously, helping to move the case forward.
A second body is found and more clues present themselves to the police investigators. Rachel flies back to London but finds herself haunted by the case. She cannot get it off her mind. She is totally obsessed with solving the case. She takes annual leave for a couple of weeks and returns to the States where she continues piecing together the various clues methodically, like doing a jigsaw All of the dead women were blonde, pretty and entitled. Rachel interviews friends and family all over the country until at last the lucky break comes. The hard work has paid off. But Rachel is juggling balls in the air and someone is determined to keep her at bay. Someone who is very clever and who is determined to lead Rachel astray. Someone who thinks nothing of murdering victims and who is very forensically aware. As Rachel gets closer and closer, so her life is put at risk. Who will triumph, the cat or the mouse?
Alison James fires everything she has got in this cracking crime drama, tantalising suspense thriller and engrossing police procedural novel. She had created and carefully developed a wealth of new characters whose stories are interwoven and not easy to unravel. The story is full on all the way through, keeping you turning the pages again and again. There are twists and turns, red herrings and blind alleyways to keep you guessing who is behind the heinous crimes until the very last few pages when, in a jaw dropping twist, the murderer is caught. I thought the plot was very complex, original and involving and the storytelling crisp and fluid, painting a vivid picture of the scenes in your mind. I really enjoyed this novel although I thought it was improbable that a police detective could afford the many plane journeys, posh hotels and eateries out of her own pocket. That aside I was certainly well hooked throughout the entire novel.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from publisher Bookouture through my membership of NetGalley. It was sent in return for an honest and unbiased review and I would like to thank them for my copy of the novel. It’s a 4.5* from me and a recommendation that this is a very good and highly entertaining read.

Be careful who you let into your home ...

I have read the previous book as well and this one was as gripping and entertaining.

With some books you need some time to get dragged into the story, others pull you in from the very beginning. This story definitely deserves a place in the latter group.

It's fluently written and fast paced. The short chapters make you keep on reading one more, and one more, and ... even though you really should have stopped to do other (read boring) things like sleeping or eating. The author has you in her grip and won't let you go before everything is revealed.

I also liked the structure of the book. The author gives us the opportunity to peek inside the culprit's head and if you want to know what is going on in there, you won't hear it from me. You will have to find out yourself.

Thank you, Alison James, Bookouture and Netgalley

Unfortunately for me, this particular book did not do my creative mind any justice. I was unable to complete this book as it bored me. I thought that by it being a thriller it would really wow me, but the characters were really were not relatable and I couldn't get into the storyline. I had really high hopes for this title, but I was let down. It may be a great read for someone else who is looking forward to reading a story from a detective's POV.

Rachel Prince, an international Division investigator, is called in to assist on a case that took place in Hollywood, California. The victim was a British expatriate and an aspiring actress. After she returns home Rachel finds out that there has been a similar murder back in America. With her workload, back home piling up, her colleague is not too happy when she takes leave to travel back to assist in finding the murderer.

Will the killer be caught?

The Perfect Girls was a good read! It had a lot of twists and turns that kept me engaged, picturing each character as of it were a movie playing in my head, throughout the book. This is the first book I have read of Alion James, and I was pleasantly surprised! This book read at a good pace and the characters are exciting and intriguing.

I just finished Perfect Girls by a favorite author of mine Alison James. I love her main character Detective Rachel Prince who this time spends the majority of the book in the US on assignment to help in the investigation into the murder of a British girl whose body is found in a dumpster behind a department store in California. After she has returned to the UK she gets word that similar cases are showing up in the US and she takes leave so she can return and hopefully catch the killer. I loved the ending which took me by complete surprise and maybe was not totally believable but not enough to ruin the book. I happily recommend this book and give it 5 stars. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Thanks to NetGalley and Alison James for letting me read this book before publication in exchange for my unbiased review.

Wow, what an intro! I liked the alternating chapters between Rachel’s perspective and the killers. I loved her relationship with her coworker, Brickall. This is a series, but was my first book by the author and I wasn’t lost. The writing and dialogue was very good. This did offer up some twists and turns. The ending was satisfying. I’ll read the next and maybe, just to get more background on the players, go backwards too.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

Rachel Prince isn’t your normal detective. She’s affiliated with the National Crime Agency, international Liaisons. She gets a call and next thing, she’s flying to L.A. to help with a dead girl from London found in a dumpster.

I’ve enjoyed the prior two books and this one kept up the momentum. The book moves quickly as Rachel finds links the LA police have missed. We also hear from the killer, who finds the victims through a home renting app called Casa Mia. While Rachel is still in the US, another victim is discovered. Rachel becomes obsessed with this case even though it’s totally out of her jurisdiction. Before we know it, she’s taken leave from her job and is flying all around the US. Unfortunately, it was just way too unbelievable. So, I can’t quite rate this as highly as the prior two books. But I still really like Rachel and will definitely be reading book four.

My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this book.

This is the 3rd book in the Rachel Prince series. Having now read all three this is equally as brilliant as the others. DI Rachel Prince is travelling between London and America to solve the murders of young, blonde girls who rent their homes out short term. Rachel dives right in with grit and determination. When she comes upon brick walls and stumbling blocks she just gets more determined. Loads of twists and turns throughout. I also loved the insight into her prize life. It just made it more personal. Absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend it. Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book.

"Pretty. Spoilt. Popular. Self-absorbed. Entitled." DEAD

DI Rachel Prince, an international liaison investigator for the UK National Crime Agency, is off to the USA in what will prove to be one of the most challenging cases of her career. Alone and without support from her partner, DS Mark Brickall, she is sent to find details about a murdered UK woman whose body was found rotting in a dumpster at the back of a Macy's store in LA. Phoebe Stiles, 25-years-old, had been dead for quite some time -- all the while, however, she had appeared to still be in contact with her parents via phone and had also filmed a commercial even though forensics found that Phoebe was already dead then. If that's true -- who went to the filming in her stead? Rachel Prince will crisscross the United States while doggedly pursuing the killer. This particular sociopath is quite busy as other bodies begin to appear. What emerges is a very chilling and complicated story of deceit and revenge. NO SPOILERS.

I really enjoyed this third in the series featuring Rachel Prince. She's fairly stereotypical as a character in this genre as she's a bit aloof and easily obsessed by her cases. She has difficulty in personal relationships but her determination to close her cases forces her to try to play nice with others. The series is very well-written and demonstrates great attention to detail as the complex case keeps the reader entertained. Equal parts police procedural, crime drama, and suspense thriller, PERFECT GIRLS kept me glued to the pages and I would have finished it in one sitting had it not been a holiday weekend! I can't wait for #4 and highly recommend the series to any fans of this genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review.

Perfect GIrls by Alison James was a thriller I received from NetGalley. I liked it. This one is apparently the third in a series about Detective Rachel Prince. This is the first of the series I'd read, so if there are things this character is known for and such, that was totally lost on me. Anyway, the story revolves around murders that appear to be connected to the CasaMia app which is an Airbnb-ish tool. When women who were using the app are murdered, Rachel goes into action to figure out common threads and what the heck is going on. There were parts of this one I really liked. In addition to following Rachel, there were chapters where the culprit narrated. As the story want, more was revealed about who this voice was, and I found I looked forward to this parts of the story to know more. There was also a twist on this one that I didn't see coming, and it was definitely an angle I hadn't seen before. Overall though, it just didn't grip me throughout for a reason I can't totally pinpoint. There were moments I had to know where the suspense was leading, but then there were others where things drug a bit. I would be interested in reading more Rachel Prince books just to get to know who she is for perspective.

British thrillers are all the rave right now. This is book 3 in the Rachel Prince series but can be read as a stand-alone. I’m not sure why you’d want to though because they are all incredibly good! I love watching Rachel Prince grow and her cases always give me the chills!
