Tried to get into this one a few times. Just wasn't working for me. Blah and drab. Did not finish.
Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley
Alix and Suzi go through a journey in this book. They both have been hurt in the past, in their 40's and looking for love. One of them has the HEA romance readers love to see and the other one is not clear but it looks like it could be. I kind of like that part of the story, the ending for both of them but I can't help but look for both HEA's.
The plot was interesting to me, not only because the blurb was compelling enough to attract me but also because I believe women in their 40's have as much right as any other women of any age to find their HEA in life. It could have been done differently but every author has a viewpoint and this was Nancy's.
The writing was well done. I could be more careful with the timeline and the back and forward. I like books with the present and past thing going on but in this case, it confused me more than I thought it could. Also, the description of the steamy scenes was so good that I couldn't put the book down in those moments.
I found the book relatable, to a point, with characters that have some characteristics that could make readers feel like their reading a book about themselves in some way. Both women were great characters as far as I'm concerned and I don't have complaints about them.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book provided by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.
They say that you should not judge the book by cover, and boy are they right by this book! Pretty cover, isn’t it?
You probably had said yourself or you have heard somebody else saying that their dates are so interesting and so hilarious, that if the book was written about them, a lot of money could be made. Well, sometimes it could be true, but in this case, it’s not. True, there are some humorous moments, and thrilling moments and even familiar moments, but bottom line is – some stories are much better when they are told and they will lose a lot when they are written. This story was a collection of different dates that were adopted for a two main characters, which means that the story went all over the place and the heroines changed too damned much through all the book. It did not work, not at all.
So the book had a pretty cover but poor content.
I received a digital ARC of #TwoWomenTooManyMen from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This sounded like it would be a great book but I didn't ever really get in to it. It needs a good edit as there are quotation marks used when it should be apostrophes. There are spelling mistakes throughout and a lack of spacing between words on occasion. The timeline flicks backwards and forwards too. Also one of the main characters will be telling the events of something that happened and it'll suddenly go from "I did this" to "she did this". Pick whether you're telling the story in first or third person and stick to it please! I stuck with it hoping the errors would decrease and I'd become more interested in the story, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
This was not great. While entertaining at times, i found the fact that the timeline jumped ahead then back a few pages later to be an immense turn off. It felt confusing at times and i had to backflip a few times to check out the timelines. I didn't particularly love it, but it was interesting to see how these women navigated their lives after divorce and cheating and dating again.
My only other major issue was the author's use of quotation mark instead of an apostrophe when using contractions. Unfortunately this was so blatant in the book, it completely threw me every time i looked at it.
E.g didn"t, I"d. ( However after looking at a sneak peak on Amazon seems that this is no longer he issue in that published copy. However in this copy from NG it drove me insane.)
