At 7 my little girl is getting a little old for these now but her eyes still lit up at the chance to read it before her friends. Whimsical, delightful, and as funny and sweet as always the will make a wonderful addition to any child's book collection.

My children love Julia Donaldson books so we looked forward to reading this one. The story is simple enough, a girl gets some new shoes that happen to be magic- it turns out very lucky that they are, as a bear is following her! Will she get away? Lydia Monks’ illustrations were beautiful.

As an adult I didn’t enjoy this story as much as others by Donaldson, but both my children certainly did! It held their attention and both were full of smiles.
I would definitely recommend based on their reactions and the beautiful presentation.

“I loved it because it had magic shoes in it”-Amber-Belle (age 7)

“You read that again”- Toby (age 3)

I received a free advance digital copy in return for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for providing me with a copy for review. Julia Donaldson is a wonderful children's author and Lydia Monks is a fantastic illustrator that always come together to make lovely books.
Their latest collaboration was just as magical as usual and was really nice to read, especially when read aloud as their books most often are. The illustrations were very bright and colourful and really added to the already great storyline of the book that I'm sure will be a hit with children, parents, teachers, and more when it comes out next year.
