Lord of Vice by Erica Ridley is an engaging and witty historical romance filled with sizzling chemistry and delightful banter. The story follows the passionate and rebellious Lord of Vice, who finds himself unexpectedly falling for the sharp-witted and independent Lady Cecily. Ridley’s blend of humor, sensuality, and rich historical detail creates a captivating world of love and intrigue. It’s a delightful read for fans of Regency-era romance with a touch of adventure and heart.
Another enjoyable novel in this series by Erica Ridley. I found the heroine a bit annoying at times, but overall a good read
Maxwell and Bryony are 2 characters made for each other. Bryony gives Maxwell a run for his money. When it comes to gaming, no stakes are higher than love.
I thought this was a very original take on the regency romance genre. I especially liked how strong and independent the heroine was. I found it an easy, enjoyable read with plenty of lighthearted banter to make you smile, whilst reading. I’ll definitely be reading more in this series.
I don't read historical romance very often but I enjoyed this one. I liked both main characters, especially Nora and how strong she was. I felt like sometimes I missed some information about characters and setting and that explained itself when I realized this is the 5th books in Rogues to Riches series but even with that it was a really light and interesting read. I loved how quirky and fun characters were and they had great chemistry which made their love story believable.
This is the sixth book in the series Rogues to Riches. I've read them all so far and all I can say is another 5 stars! Each book is better than the last. My favorite so far. What a great love story. I enjoyed the characters and the story-telling. Worth reading! I look forward to spending time with the characters we already know and meeting new ones.
I adore this series. All of the characters have been a delight and so much fun to follow through their journeys. I was so excited that we would get a book for Maxwell. He's been in many of the previous books and he always seems aloof, mysterious and intriguing. I was not disappointed! Bryony was an interesting character throughout this series, also. I loved learning her story and seeing a happy ending for her. Thank you Ms Ridley for another wonderful adventure!
This is a fun and light story. The historical aspects don't always reflect the era, but the concept and the characters are entertaining.
Max is focused on expanding his business. The last thing he wants is a chit who turns his world upside down, even though he wants to throttle her at times.
Bryoni would give up her dowry for independence and romance.
Their meeting is far from conventional. They come from different sides of society and society dictates what's appropriate. Will they throw caution and the ton's expectations to the wind?
I like Max's determination to succeed. He is stubborn, but ruthless when it comes to business dealings. Bryoni doesn't really care for the ton and she always has good intentions. These intentions sometimes backfire, and make this story interesting. It's an enjoyable read.
I was kindly issued with an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 6 in the rogues to riches series. I have to say I enjoyed this one a lot better than book 5. This one takes place after the events in book 5 and that is what made it enjoyable to read. I liked the characters and story a great deal. It was a good way to continue the series.
Miss Bryony Greenville is unlike any heroine of her time. Her cunning intellect and business sense have kept her busy as a silent partner in a gaming hell. Unbeknownst to Max, his attempts to purchase the land his establishment rests on someone he never could have imagined. Bryony is definitely a breath of fresh air and reading about her exploits will bring a smile to your face.
I really loved this book! It had all the elements that I look for in a romance story - Drama, emotion, a strong heroine, a hero who is unsure of himself, some really good romance and a wonderful blend of humor. I was pulled into the story right from the start, and I was very sorry to have it end. Highly recommended!
LORD OF VICE is the sixth book in the Rogues to Riches series. They each stand alone, but I believe it would be best if you read them all and in the order of release.
He sees their pairing as Beauty and the Beast, himself as a hound from hell. She would say she is seeking the freedoms sought by the prince in the Prince and the Pauper. Throw in a bit of The Gift of the Magi (and a voice to match Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady) and their love story really becomes the stuff that makes readers swoon.
Bryony Grenville is really too intelligent to be a woman of the tonne. From the way they meet long before they actually meet face-to-face, until that meeting, and then continue to court without courting, theirs is a truly unusual story. This is an adventure unlike any other and not to be missed.
Narration: As I said before, Marian Hussey’s voice has the sweet tones I first heard in that famous musical. That alone kept me glued to my Audible player (and looking up a playing of the play to watch this weekend).
Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
TBR — I hope to revisit this title, wonderful premise! Erica Ridley is a fantastic author.

I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
3.75/5 Stars
I can honestly say that I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. One of my favorite tropes includes women pretending to be men for one reason or another, and although it was brief, I was excited to see it included in this. On one hand, the story had a good buildup, but on the other, I do feel like there was a factor of instalove, but that could be attributed to the fact that the timing wasn't fleshed out; supposedly a month passed, (which, yes, is still a very short time to fall in love with someone, if you wondered) but it only detailed a few times the main couple met, leaving a bit of a rushed "courtship" in my mind.
However, it did leave me wanting more of the world, and I'm definitely reading the other books in the series. (Yes, I know this was the last one, but like I said: one of my favorite tropes EVER)
Loved it. Max and Byrony keep you entertain with a real life relatable romance. It sweet and entertaining
This was really cute and fun! I loved how Max and Bryony got to know each other, admired each other's talents.I love that their romance didn't right away turn into sexual part. It was developed in the right pace. Though I think this book is too short for me. I wish we had more.
Lord of Vice is the sixth book in the Rogues to Riches series by Erica Ridley. Although it's part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone story. Having read the other books in the series I must admit that it's nice to have a catch up with the other characters from those books in this one.
Bryony Grenville is a virtuoso when it comes to playing the violin. She always takes part in the special musicales her family perform once a month at her mother's insistence. She only wants to marry for love and her parents despair of her being left on the shelf. It wouldn't be so bad if she decided to travel playing her violin, but she doesn't want that. She is happy with her life as it is. One of the highlights of her life is the part she plays as a secret partner with the Lord of Vice.
Maxwell Gideon is that man. He has worked his way up from nothing to becoming a rich man and the owner, or at least majority owner, of a gaming club called The Cloven Hoof. Rent and a small percentage of the profits have been going to his silent partner. The contract is due to expire and he wants nothing more than to buy the lease from him, he has no idea it's Bryony who is his landlord. When the club is officially all his then Max will finally feel as if he has made it. Then he can concentrate his efforts on helping his sister with her finances.
Max is willing to pay above the odds to buy the lease back and Bryony can't help but wonder how he can possibly afford to pay that much when really he is only just making a nice profit. With that question in mind she sneaks out after dark when the club is shut, and she knows Max won't be there. She wants to snoop around his office to find out just what he is hiding. Unfortunately for her he returns to the club and catches her in his office.
Their meeting is a novel one especially as she is dressed in men's clothes at the time. She doesn't tell him who she is, apart from her first name, and he finds himself intrigued by her. She shows an amazing aptitude for numbers and despite him telling her not to visit there anymore, she ignores him and over time she helps him make some changes and some more profit from his club. They both start to have feelings towards each other, but Bryony can't let herself give in to him unless she tells him who she really is. Something she dreads doing because she knows he won't be happy when he knows.
What will happen when he finds out? You will have to read the book to find out.
This whole series has been a delight to read with each book as wonderful as the one before it. I love the Grenville family and have thoroughly enjoyed reading each sibling's story. Bryony and Max's story was wonderful because they were so obviously perfect for each other and I couldn't read quickly enough to find out how they could have their happy ever after. There were some fabulously lighthearted moments, a particular scene I enjoyed involved a lot of children and a brilliant card game! Then, of course, there were some beautiful romantic scenes between Max and Bryony and other heartbreaking ones which I won't give any spoilers about. Suffice to say that his book made me run the gamut of emotions and I thoroughly recommend it.
I really loved this one. I couldn put it down.
I voluntarily reviewed an Reader Copy of this book which I received through Netgalley.
Miss Bryony Grenville and Vice Merchant Maxwell Gideon meet within Regency Gaming halls and investment with secret partners to find a way to their hearts. Settle in for the twist and turns of the Ton. Part of the Rogues to Riches series however can be read alone.
Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
Another great historical romance from Erica Ridley. As soon as I start one of her novels, I can't out it down. With a hoydenish heroine and a self-made hero with a soft spot for hoydens, this book does not disappoint fans of the genre.
I finished it in one sitting and can't wait for the next.
