My favorite book of the series! I absolutely loved Bryony and Max's story. It was refreshing to have such an intelligent heroine (and a hero that respected her). While it was great to see the rest of the family, I truly enjoyed this novel.

I received this ARC free from Netgalley.

This was an enjoyable historical romance. The heroine is intelligent and sneaks about dressed as a lad to do business. The hero is a gaming club owner with a strong business sense and deep family loyalty. Their interactions were fascinating. I was impressed with the heroine because she loved her family enough to try to please her parents when she was interested in something, and someone, else.

It was difficult to believe the heroine did so much alone, in London, in 1817. I felt that the hero doing all the decision making for the club was too much for how large it was.

What I loved about this book is what some others did not, that it was different, but in a good way. Maxwell Gideon is not a titled Lord, he is the owner of a nefarious gaming club. Bryony is the daughter of a Baron with a mind for mathematics and investing. In fact, she is the mysterious investor in Max’s business and secretly sneaks into the club to take a peek at the books to make sure Max is not holding back profits. Not sneaky enough, she gets caught and a friendship and mutual respect for business develops. I liked the fact that these two are from different worlds. Usually, the owner of the gaming house is super rich or not part of the ton, but still titled in some way. Max was different. He grew up poor and, while not struggling, he is not rich, which makes it impossible for him to have a real relationship with Bryony. However, the heart wants what the heart wants and Bryony is not your typical London miss who cares what anyone thinks! I very much enjoyed this book. I would love to read more by this author. Hopefully Max’s sister Francis gets her own HEA soon! I received a free copy from the publisher for my honest review, and here it is! Get it, read it, love it!

The Grenville siblings are all married except for Byrony. She is the youngest and her mother would like to get her married off. Maxwell Gideon owns the Cloven Hoof which is a place for men only. Byrony owns the building and the property which Max would like to buy so he can be the sole owner. Can they come to an agreement. First he needs to realize she is the owner. He is from the working class and everyone has decided he is a bad person. Byrony realizes that is not true. Can they find true love coming from different walks of life?

I loved this one! Very sweet love story and also a story of finding oneself and learning to let others in. Max was a great hero, definitely one of my all time favorites now for sure. Bryony was also a great heroine, very smart and determined and once these two get it together and realize they need each other, they are unstoppable. I highly recommend this excellent read.

There’s always a problem with historical romances. If the author writes a plot with verisimilitude for the period, the characters, especially the heroine, will seem flat and weak according to our modern standards. And the hero will seem like a sexist prig. So authors decide to craft novels with characters who seem wholly unbelievable for the time period. If the reader is willing to suspend disbelief in order to have more palatable couples, the novel can be more enjoyable.

That is what I experience in this novel. The heroine, Byrony, is uninterested in getting married despite her parents pressuring her to make a choice. She has been investing money in various businesses, particularly the gambling den owned by Max. How a fashionable young woman gets the information to know all that she does about his business and its competitors in order to make the well-reasoned business decision we’re told that she has made is basically left unsaid. Oh, and she’s a math genius who can correctly add a column of numbers that she sees upside down across a desk. Sure.

Max has worked himself up from the docks and deep poverty to running this hugely successful men’s club. We are told that he couldn’t have opened it without Byrony’s funding, but never told how he raised enough money to fund his portion of the club especially when we’re told that her investment wasn’t all that big. And he’s also a math genius. His secret desire is to create a club where men of different classes can mingle. He wants to break down the barriers among the classes. And he’s succeeding. This is the Regency period. Does anyone buy any of this?

Oh, and he has a sister who is stubbornly insisting on being a seamstress working for a small salary. He wants to help her set up in her own business but she resists because he wants to give her the money instead of lending it to her. This couldn’t be worked out between them? It’s just a silly complication stuck in so that … I don’t know why.

But if you pretend to accept all this, there is a nice romance developing between Byrony and Max. They realize that they have a lot in common and enjoy working together to figure out ways for the club to maximize profits. Then they have to get over Max’s feelings of inferiority because of the class differences between them even though we’re told that he’s all about breaking down those class barriers.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I read this book in one set. Very good book, this author has never disappointed me with any of her books. The story of Brynne and Max is one of the best in this series. The complex dynamics of their relationship is fun to follow, however I do admit I shed tears in more than one spot. You will definitely enjoy following this story!

Unbeknownst to me, Lord of Vice is the last book in Erica Ridley’s Rogues to Riches series. Perhaps it is because I am new to this series as it’s coming to a close that I did not fully appreciate the last vestige of this group of peers coming to its final conclusion.
I lacked compassion for Miss Bryony Grenville, daughter of a Baron and Baroness, who complains heavily about marriage and want of independence. It was how Bryony whined about having to marry in every conversation she had in this book that made for poor reading. Self-made Maxwell Gideon deserved a higher caliber woman rather than a one-track minded, immature miss.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I think Bryony and Max are my favourite pairing yet! This story is sweet and clever, with genuine chemistry and a believable attraction between the couple. So well paced and well written. Lord of Vice is going down as my ultimate favourite in this series.

Wonderful sixth book in the Rogues to Riches series. As much as I loved the previous books, this is my favourite.

Two great main characters, lots of witty banter, a cast of wonderful secondary characters including the Grenville siblings, other former Rogues, and there's one character we've all been hoping to see in a scene or two (thanks Erica).

Bryony and Max dance around each other for quite some time, but it's not a boring dance at all.

This is my first book reading this series and to be hnest I did not love it. It had nothing to do with the authors writing or characters, I just like reading more about lords and dukes and I felt Byrony was stepping down with Max and so I had a hard time believing in this romance.

Max owns a gaming hell and has a silent partner, that is Byrony. B's parents want to marry her off but instead she meets Max in person and a romance ensues for them. Max comes from nothing. He has a sister who he takes care off and he is a wonderrful man. I just had a hard time seeing him end up with Byrony since he was really self made man.

That said it was a well written and interesting story.

I received this novel from net galley and the publisher. Thank you!
This novel was a great read! I really enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters. Miss Bryony Grenville is much more than she appears: she is intelligent, determined, and kind. She gave some of the funds for the development of gaming hall and it has prospered. However, her partner wants to buy her out and Bryony needs to know more of his character. Maxwell Gideon, Lord of Vice, is determined to take care of his family, snub his nose at high society, and buy out his silent partner. Max grew up poor and wanted to have something completely his. He never expected Bryony or the chaos she would bring to his life. He begins to open himself up to her, after trying to push her away by being mean. Bryony is stubborn though and enjoys their interactions, for Max treats her as an equal, unlike most of society. Max sees the changes Bryony suggests and improves the profits of the hall, which shows him her mind for business. Bryony falls in love with Max, but he knows they cannot be together since they run in different social circles. That does not stop Bryony from doing all she can. However, when a misunderstanding leaves Bryony deeply hurt, will Max be able to realize the true motive before he loses the woman he loves?

I can't say enough about this book. I absolutely loved it. Max owns a gaming hell, mostly. He has an investor who refuses to meet with him. No one gets into his club unless he permits it. He wants to buy the deed for the land the Cloven Hoof stands on. Lord Heath Grenville has been the go between for Max and his anonymous partmer. Bryony Grenville is a spirited lady who likes to wear britches and roam London after hours looking for adventure. Unbeknownst to Max, she is the secret investor. Byrony decides she wants to see the Cloven Hoof before she sells the deed and slips into the club when it is closed dressed as a boy. Despite it being closed, Max is there and catches Byrony in his office. He knows she is not a boy but a young woman. He doesn't know who she is, but he is fascinated by her. She has great ideas and a head for business. Max is the son of a dock worker, not accepted by the ton. Byrony's mother is determined to marry her off this Season to someone, hopefully with a high title. She would never accept Max as he would be beneath her. When they fall in love, they know her parents will not approve. Will they run off to Gretna Green or will they decide that they will have to give up too much to be together? So many plots within plots. I would recommend it to anyone who loves historical romance. I give it a 5+. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

Say it isn't so, Lord of Vice, is the last book in this series. The Grenville's are an awesome family that will bend over backwards to help each other out. Bryony might be one of the most generous sibling of the bunch. Quite smart too. Max was very fortunate the day he caught her in his office. Needless to say, I loved this book.

When you are waiting on a certain character to have his/her own story and it finally gets published and you are not disappointed - that is Lord of Vice for me. Maxwell has always been a fascinating character and paired up with Byrony makes this story funny and smart. I love when the heroine can hold her own against any man of the era. The dialog is smart, the banter witty and the attraction hot. Sad to see this series end but what a way to end it.
