Friends Like These. Fast paced. Loved the storyline. Felt believable and like it could be real. I really liked the main character like she could be in my group of friends. It just goes to show how mean comments can make someone flip and do cruel things. Didn't really get the going on a date with the ex, seemed a weird thing for her to do with what had gone on. Soon as she took it upon herself to go on a hunt for Becca I kind of felt like she has gone too far... Which I loved! Couldn't wait to see it unfold. Just wow I did not see the twist coming, I had an idea something felt off but couldn't put my finger on it. Won't ruin it but is definetly worth a read!
WOW what an amazing story. This is a very current book in regards to social media!!!! I was totally hooked from beginning to end and couldn't put it down. I highly recommended you read this book.
I picked up this book not realising how amazing it was going to be. Hold on because it's an incredible read! I didn't anticipate any of the story as it unfolded. I can't say anything without giving anything away so I urge you to read it. If you like thrillers, you'll LOVE this!
I'm still in shock! Perfectly written, I cannot find fault with it! This will be one of those that you see everyone reading in the summer and rightly so, it's brilliant. Go buy it before your holiday!
Thank you Netgalley and publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book for an honest review, this is one that I feel incredibly lucky to be able to read. It blew me away!

First impressions are everything they say; a bad first impression can lead to deadly consequences or at least that’s how the story goes in Friends Like These.
Friends Like These is a warped, tangled, twisty tale, staring a wicked femme fatale who’s hell-bent on getting her revenge! Will she get it? A must read to find out!!!❤️❤️4 stars
Becky was someone who had everything. Someone whose social media sites made her life sound like perfection. Lizzie, an ex-colleague of Becky's isn't particularly impressed.
Of course perfection is not real life and Becky disappears from social media following an accident. Lizzie chances upon Becky while on a drunken Facebook trawling session and ends up sending a private message meant for her friend Flora, to Becky instead. This, of course, sets in motion events that nobody could have foreseen.
A story that reflects the reality of today. A cautionary tale, a tale that gave me the shivers. A great book, a page turner and a completely engrossing read..
Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the review copy of this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, though I fear there is not a whole lot I can say about it without spoiling it. However I would like to say this; trust NOBODY!!!
This book was gripping from page one and I flew through it, in fact, if it hadn't have been my bedtime on the day I started this I imagine I would have finished it in a day.
This book was terrifying - a real edge of your seat thriller. It was unnerving and intense and I just could not get enough.
There were several times in this book where I actually gasped, and I can't say that for many books!
Jam-packed with twists, Friends Like These will keep you guessing until the last page. In fact upon finishing the last page I think I actually shivered.
I loved the writing style; at the beginning it felt sort-of gossip like which was perfect for this story, also, part-way through the tone noticeably changes which made me feel unnerved and made me question every single word I had already read.
I highly recommend this book for fans of psychological thrillers and for people who don't typically read psychological thrillers, either way, this book will absolutely blow your mind!
Wow - this was a great read for a debut novel and I cannot wait for more from this author! 'Friends like these' is a thrilling and very current cautionary tale .. be careful how you use your social media! When main character Becca sends a 'bitchy' message to her friend all about an ex-work colleague who seemed to have the perfect life ... she wakes the next morning to discover that she accidentally sent the message to the ex-colleague. When things start to go wrong for Becca... she realises that someone is messing with her life ... I don't want to re-tell the story, suffice to say this is gripping with lots of twists and turns and a thoroughly great read! Many thanks to netgalley for an arc of this book in return for an honest opinion.
Absolutely loved this! Nice easy read and I enjoyed the different points of view. I enjoyed how everything was not as it seemed and didn’t see the twist coming - I was totally sucked in! Would definitely like to read more from this author. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and Mulholland Books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to Sarah Alderson, Hodder & Stoughton, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read FRIENDS LIKE THESE.
Oh, my goodness. Who can you trust?
Becca has an accident at work and disappears off the face of the earth. Lizzie had envied Becca's lifestyle which she seemed to live through gushing hashtags before the accident. Then Lizzie spots Becca has opened a new Facebook account, documenting her new life with her new husband and baby-with even more hashtags. Lizzie sends a less than flattering message about Becca's baby to her work-colleague, but it goes off course as sometimes they do and it ends up in Becca's message box. And this is when the fun, and the horror, begin. I was completely hooked by this novel, and taken completely off track. It's that kind of story; keeps you guessing right until the end. Brilliant!
What a great book. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed this. Got into it quickly and did not see the twist at all.
Definitely worth a read.
A gripping read, full of twists and turns, I was never sure who to trust until the very end.
Well written and with beautifully constructed characters I read this in one sitting, I just couldn’t put it down.
I lurched from trusting each character in turn , to becoming convinced that they were in fact guilty!
Lizzie in particular was so well written
Wow, a cautionary tale about the dangers of social media. I really enjoyed this tense psychological thriller and found it hard to put down. A story of jealousy, envy and a bitter feud.
A fantastic thriller full of twists and turns, you just have to carry on reading to find out what happens next. Very cleverly written with interesting characters, complex interesting plot and twists I didn't see coming.
Highly recommeded.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyed this book, didn't expect the massive twist!! Liked the writing and the characters and would enjoy a follow up!
How much of your personal life do you put on social media?
After reading this, maybe not so much!
A clever little thriller for the social media crazy age.
This took a completely unexpected turn and I was absolutely hooked. Actually missed my bus stop by a long shot, I was so engrossed in what was going to happen next.
Absolutely loved this book, couldn’t put it down. Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review.
Lizzie and Becca were work colleagues, Lizzie was always in the shadow of the beautiful and vivacious Becca, who appeared to have everything including a doting boyfriend until the accident!!!
3 years later a re-invented Lizzy decided to search for Becca on Social Media and unfortunately sent a text to Becca by mistake, which opened up a completely different world to the one portrayed by Becca.
This gripping story unfolds in the most unexpected way.
Highly recommend.
I was intrigued by this book. From the beginning I thought I knew exactly how it was going to end and what the plot would deliver. Oh how completely wrong I was . A very enjoyable read.
This book ended in an interesting way, but it took a while to get there. This story was a really slow start. Loved the ending and the twist.
Friends Like These is a fast-paced thriller with incredible twists that you won’t see coming. The narrative from both Becca and Lizzie’s points of view give it extra depth, and I read it in one sitting, as I was so eager to find out the ending. Highly recommended for a bit of escapism!
FRIENDS LIKE THESE by SARAH ALDERSEN
I was reading this in bed at night and found one big problem. It is quite a page turner and found that I couldn’t sleep and just kept on reading through the night so ended up reading it over the course of three nights! The flow of the story is very fast and keeps you gripped until the end. There is some predictability in what happens especially as the beginning is the transcript of the telephone call from Lizzie to the emergency services so it was clear that a murder was going to take place but the reasons for it and the way it happens unravel as the book unfold.
The idea that an incorrectly sent Facebook post can cause such mayhem is not a new one but the twists and turns throughout keep you absorbed. It was particularly gripping at the end when Becca is captured and taken back to the house in London.
A couple of criticisms is that all the characters are quite unpleasant and totally narcissistic from Becca to Lizzie to the boyfriend, James, they have both been involved in at one time or another. I also found some of it slightly far fetched. On the whole though a good book that keeps you guessing.
